Matsuzaka Japanese Restaurant

Me and my friend Jess think they are very abrupt and disgusting and take ages to give you the food and needed to ask twice for catlary. Disgusting will never come back won't recommend.

The very Best. My favourite Elsternwick Cafe. Best coffee and the very best service.

The inside is a bit dark and doesnt feel that nice. The tables were sticky and it was just a bit dingy. Food was decent and cheap

We were a party of two couples. There were no other patrons in the restaurant. After we arrived only one other couple came in. The waitress "stacked" a few menus and four glasses on top each other in the center of our table without any welcoming greeting whatsoever. We found the menu difficult to understand.
The waitress' explanations of the items we enquired about were even harder to understand. Although there was only one other table occupied (with one couple), we waited over half an hour for our orders to arrive. The "Prawn" dish was not what we understood it to be (only one prawn). The Sushi pieces were VERY small. The Sizzling Steak plate was so small that the thin sauce splashed everywhere over the table. The Steak's Teriyaki sauce was far too "liquid", not at all a thick sauce. It took ages before our used plates were removed from our table. (One used plate was not removed at all). It took ages for our desserts to be served. No serviettes were given to us with our desserts. VERY disappointing. I now understand why the restaurant was 95% empty. Will not return.

Our favourite dishes are the deluxe sashimi/sushi platter, spider roll and soft shell crab.

Food is great, fresh and well presented. We go for the Sushi, Sashimi, Gyozas and their California rolls.
Its a bit old looking, the staff try and the foods good!

Not recommended this restaurant. Food 3/10 staff service 3/10 waiting time 0/10. Been waiting for the food for like an hour and still not show up. Note they are not real Japanese food.

I am surprised that people think the price is reasonable. The fried rice is so small and cost $15. Taste is average.
Service is extremely slow, they are all busy with Uber eats order and we had to wait for 80 minutes for our food to come.

Quit cold place, keep our coats on food ok.but like to eat main meals altogether.

Didn't have a good experience food was very poor had to go to KFC after I finished there for dinner I enjoyed KFC batter

The place was tranquil and food is good. Service is a bit slow. Nonetheless happy to come back.

A group of eight of us booked for Saturday night dinner. I had their prawn Bento Box (surprisingly it came with only 2 prawns deep fried in batter) there was some vegetables in batter, a little stir fried meat. The steak dishes looked good. The service was exceptionally slow. We waited in excess of an hour for the first meals to arrive, and then another +-hour until the last meals arrived.there were no apologies

I had the Sizzling Plate Wafu Steak. The meat was really soft and cooked to perfection. The accompanying vegetables fit well with the rest of the dish. The sauce was fruity and sweet. I also had the Plum Wine with Plum which tasted light and felt refreshing on the palate. The plum was tender and sweet.:) Would recommend to anyone looking for great quality Japanese food.

Fantastic. Never been a big fan of Japanese cuisine. Absolutely converted now. Huge range of dishes. Really good value. Can't wait to to return

Absolutely horrible and disappointing. To get my meal I waited an hour and a half. When it finally arrived the meals were tiny and it was definitely over priced. My friend ordered "tempura prawn and salmon roll" advertised saying 5 pieces for $7 and it turned out to be 1 roll cut up into 5 slices. My friends and I all had this issue and we would definitely not go here again.

Four of us came to Matsuzaka Japanese Restaurant on a Tuesday night for dinner. I ordered the Matsuzaka bento box, which had a variety of different meats including sashimi, fried chicken, a spring roll, chicken strips and beef. For dessert, we shared the matcha cake and strawberry-filled mochi. Although they were nice, they were quite overpriced for what you get. Nonetheless, the waiters were attentive and friendly, and the food was tasty, so thank you very much for the experience.

Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Service was good and the food came out in reasonable time. Menu had sufficient variety for all tastes.
