Market Lane Coffee - Carlton. reviews
20The few times I’ve been here the coffee has been slightly sour. I assume the coffee blend is more of a medium to light roast and thus brighter, but the execution is not quite right, especially when paired with oat milk. Good service.
I am unsure how a small cappuccino with full cream milk is $6 here, in addition to it not being full.
Most of the places in that area are around the $4 min or $5 max for a small. However it looks like a nice place on the outside.
Staff member only pretend to wash my (accidentally dirty) keep cup rather than just declining my request. Result wasrotten taste at the end of the coffee. They also declined to clean the lid because?
As someone who has worked in hospitality I recommend just politely saying no if you don't want to do something. By the way they were not busy.
Paid $6 for a cappuccino that was was burnt and sour, with bubbly foam. Really disappointing!
Giving it two stars just because I have had good coffees here in the past. But definitely not in rush to come back.
Had a job nearby today so I felt like a coffee.
One of the best I've had in a while and this is probably the best market lane shop I've been to. Double espresso done perfectly. Thank you!
Absolutely nailing it for a ‘hole in the wall’ type of cafe. Super kind and friendly staff, incredible coffee and a great community vibe. Market Lane has been my all time favourite coffee for years and they’ve never once dropped the ball with their consistency!
PLEASE diversify more. Market lane won’t cater for you if you deviate from a full cream coffee, the staff can be quite blunt about it too. No almond milk, no chai. Spend your money elsewhere.
Hands down best coffee ever. Always perfect in all branches silky smooth milk & a beautiful crema that will make you go back over & over again plus very friendly staff!
Coffee here is always superb! Can always reliably come here for a fix of great coffee, there's just an all-round respect for quality.
Always such an excellent coffee. I've been coming here near daily for several years. I extra love they use organic, non-homogenised milk (Shultz). Love you Market Lane! Xx
Stopped by here by chance a few weeks back and quickly became a regular, friendly staff, quick service and good coffee. Great little spot
Market Lane coffee is a small hole in the wall, takeaway coffee shop. They only have one size cup, only have full cream milk and one size cup. Coffee is good but it's very limited. Staff are a little got and miss here too and wait times aren't the best. Considering the plethora of good coffee options around, it's not too of my list
Lovely place with delightful staff and exceptional coffee. Limited to dairy milk but they’re upfront about it and kind of just own it. Quality coffee and you can rely on it being very, very well made.
No dairy free option. Basic business/marketing fix. Soy milk is hardly an out there, unusual choice for coffee nowadays. It’s likely to send a reasonable portion of your market away from your joint. The staff also have serious “holier than thou” attitude. Coffee snobbery at its best. My money won’t be spent there.
The Coffee here is my favourite in Melbourne. It’s part of my weekend ritual to go here and get a cappuccino. I find the staff to be mainly friendly (although some are warmer than others).
I think they should be more flexible with milk options though. It’s ok for me, but the lack of alternative milk options prevents me bringing my friends and family to this place. This is an easy fix, I’m not sure why they havn’t implemented it yet, I suspect some snobbery is involved.
Dissapointing that there is no dairy free option for vegan customers, those with lactose intolerance, or just prefer the taste of a plant based milk. I asked for a soy latte and felt a bit talked down to with an elitist vibe when told full cream cow milk is the only option.
I started coming here since my daughter was born for our morning pram walk. Definitely the cosiest Market Lane in Melbourne. Right next to a popular bread shop and even though they only serve full cream milk they're always helpful with recommendation for people looking for skinny or soy or decaf. Weekends can get super busy.
A good ol' cup of latté from here with canelé from Baker D. Chirico next door - just one of the true joys of living in Carlton. You can really taste the love they put in to making coffee for the city that loves to drink it.
Hole in the wall style coffee just off the main Lygon street drag. Coffee is consistently great.
Coffee is mediocre (there are many better places) BUT the service is appalling and THEY CHARGED ME TWICE!
WARNING IF PAYING BY CARD HERE:
They use square payments terminal, which is a little white square terminal. You can't check the amount they have charged your card (like double charges) as there is no screen to check.
Make sure you check your invoices, as double charging happened to me! No apologies offered.
Other feedback:
- For the shameful service, you would think the arrogance would be made up for exceptional coffee. NOPE!
Go else where, there are many great coffee shops nearby with good service.
