Maritime Cove Community Park reviews
41Lovely playground next to Port Melbourne, recycled equipment full of fun for kids, hand water pumps, wood tower/slide, lovely sand, great outlook to beach and skyline with seagulls around!
Great place for kids above the age of 4 I would say. For my 2yo some of the equipment can be a bit hazardous. Awesome place none the less, right next to the beach great views and plenty of space
One of the best playgrounds around melbourne. Heaps to do for kids of every age and then you can take a walk to the tower at the end to watch ferries go by
This is a fantastic playground with excellent kids playground equipment that fittingly for the location, take on marine-theme. There's a tall wooden life-saving tower with a long spiral slide, and a number of salvaged maritime items including buoys, a crows nest, channel markers and bollards, all set on beach sand and great for climbing. There's also rope ladder bridges and rope climbing walls, as well as some very unique water sprays such as the see-saw activated water sprays. Truly great playground features that are suitable for children of all ages to enjoy. There's also a boardwalk that protects the natural vegetation and leads directly to the beach for waterplay and there's usually a ship or two sailing past which will also add to the fun.
The nearby Sandridge beach has toilets, tables and BBQs and Caps Café is open 8: 30am–12: 30pm weekdays for all your coffee, snacks and ice cream needs. The playground area also has lighting.
It is a good park for kids across the ages. The water feature is always a hit. Unfortunately, shade is a problem. Hot days, absolute struggle to stand under the sun watching your child. So make sure you have sunscreen and a hat. Parking an be really difficult during the busy times.
Very nice place for kids. Parking available and good spot. I would like a bbq for some tasty burguer
One of the best play grounds for children! Well layer out and thought through playground to keep the children occupied for hours. It would be a greatly welcomed addition to see a toilet block nearer to the playground built in the not too distant future, other than that amazing facility
Great park for 12 and 8 year old. Also raked to observation deck, very interesting there. Great afternoon!
Great park. A bit annoying to try find parking when workers use the parking.
Kids had lots of fun. Could use more equipment for kids instead of sand. Like the flying fox for humans not sand
Between open inspection, we decided to take a break and enjoy talking with the local community. What a wonderful place. E L I T E ;-)
Playground is fantastic for kids of all ages. Only problems no pinic tables or seats, and toilet facilities too far away, and in appalling state
Amazing playground for all ages. A hidden gem only minutes from Bay St. Beautiful stroll will take about 30 mins or 8 mins by car. Depends how lazy your kids are! ;)
New park opened up on the old ports land. Fair sized adventure playground and plenty to walk around.
Love this park.great things for the kids to play on.very clean also.top park.one of the best to date.
It’s kind of nice.more so for kids. Quirky array of maritime themed play equipment, and tight neat the port.
Nice place to hang out. Lots of places to sit, drink taps and shelter but no toilets. The is also plenty of car parking (just don't come between 11pm and 5am- but then why would you? As there is no parking allowed between these times).
Nice walking path (not paved) down to the observation tower which looks over onto Hobsons Bay. Plenty of climbing facilities and some water play for those hot summer's days ️.
The playground is a clever example of upcycling old things as most of it is old (but restored) maritime objects from Port Phillip Bay. For those that are interested in the topic, there is an information sign explaining this and welcoming you to the park.
The place to ING. Running, Jogging, Walking, Exercising, Fishing, Paddling, Playing, Watching & Throwing your dog a stick. This place has got the lot.
Great park for the kids but lacking in many areas. No shaded or seating areas for the adults. Hundreds of Rats running around make it feel dirty and unhygienic. Wasn’t very pleasant to have a picnic
The Maritime Cove Community Park located adjacent to Webb Dock in Port Melbourne is an excellent park with a playground area for kids and also an area with exercise equipment for adults.
The range and type of the kids playground equipment is excellent and some are very unique including some with water sprays such as the a see-saw that activates water sprays (see photos).
The adult gym equipment is extensive however and includes push-up and step-up bars, a butterfly press for working the pectoral muscles, a shoulder press, an aerobic walker, a leg press, a bench press and a stretch station.
The playground area has lighting so I imagine it will be used on warm summer nights it also has public toilets only a short distance nearby.
Unfortunately the park does have some major issues:
(a) There is very limited shaded areas which can be serious for young children on hot summer days. I believe that a number of shade sails should be installed.
(b) There is limited seating for adults that are there to supervise their children
(c) While the kids playground equipment is excellent, I don't believe that the adult gym equipment is of good quality in terms of functionality.
(d) While the car park is quite large, it is strange that when there was virtually no-one in the park, the car park was almost full with cars (see photos). Does this indicate that the car park is being used by others, perhaps workers nearby?
Nice little playground. An ideal place for the family on warm days. The kids love it, also the bushes + the trail and the beach near by. Public toilets accessibility could be the most concerning cons. Need to walk 400m to the public toilets. Be prepared if you have a toilet training child with you.
