Mario's at San Remo

Large portions of excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. It’s my mum’s favourite restaurant outside of metro Melbourne and it’s not far off being mine as well. Have eaten there many times and never once have we been disappointed. Highly recommended

Service was good, food was excellent, ambiance was a little bit noisy, but not a deal breaker. I'd go back again.

When you see other reviewers saying the portion sizes are massive so only order entree sizes and they are still massive, that’s Mario’s!

Often when you get huge portions the quality of the food suffers. Not here! My wife described the pumpkin ravioli as some of the best she’s ever eaten. The garlic bread was spot on. Our three year old son ate the whitebait and the calamari. It was the perfect post penguin parade meal. Plus Mario gave our son a special bandana which he loved wearing!

Both food and service are very nice. It’s got the beautiful view by the window. The squid pasta is my favourite.

I had two very happy kids with the meals they got, quality and speedy service from Mario. Will come back next time we're in town.

Food was well presented, fresh, hot and served fairly quickly. Prices are in the upper range for Phillip Island area- steak $50+ - pasta $25+, 3 of us had entree pasta each, a bowl chips, 3 soft drinks =$95. Servings were fairly generous, but pasta is pasta, had to ask for cheese on pasta which seemed a chore for them. Can be noisy on weekends, don't rely on menu in reviews as it is 2years old and has gone up dramatically. Good for a special occasion or date night maybe

We had dinner at this restaurant as a family just after the penguin parade, a great way to end the evening. The plates are very good and generous, very efficient service and Mario is a generous and jovial personality. Stop by: you won't regret it!

Food absolutely delicious. So tasteful and fresh. Large servings, so won't be hungry. Service was wonderful, professional and friendly.

Enjoyed all the traditional Italian dishes (not all shown below), large serves, fresh produce (especially the die for white bait) deliciously cooked, prompt entrees and before we knew it mains were with us too. Thanks Mario and team

We where advice to visit Italian type restaurant. Unfortunately, there was nothing Italian and they abuse this name.
Garlic shrimps came with rice? Steak and duck where with same sides. Nothing special. They cant call themselves restaurant. A decent cantene I would say, only they must adjust prices.
The only thing what good - the WINE. This I recommend Purple Hen pinot noir.

Delicious food, seafood was so fresh! Staff were super friendly and service was spot on! Overall had a really good experience here! Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Food always superb. Like so many venues staffing is an issue, but the girls did their absolute best to get to everyone on a full house Wednesday evening.

Really disappointed, we usually dine in each time we come up to the island, I called last Wednesday 21st of Dec 22 to make a reservation for 6 people for tonight (28th Dec 22), when I called- the staff did not know if they would be open for business, I was told to leave my number and one of two staff members would contact me in an hour's time to confirm the reservation for that date and if they would be trading.never heard back from anyone, and then tonight at 6.51pm I get a phone call asking if we are still coming to our booking- which was never confirmed if they were even open for business! We always have had good service here and always enjoyed the food. It's a shame because of the waitresses unprofessionalism we will not be back. Utterly disappointed!

I was dissapointed to find the chicken breast that I ordered was actually thigh, there was very little stuffing inside. Also the tiramisu wasn't very good. Alot to pay for a meal that isn't that great. Shall not go again.

Not a cheap take out and the meat was overdone after I asked for medium rare.
Friendly staff though and the food was tasty. I would suggest eat in rather as I’m sure you’d get the best experience that way rather than take out.

Wonderful place to get a great meal. Even whent out of their way to make sure we had a table reserved for us as we were marshals at the GP. Above and beyond.
