Maria's Trattoria

Exquisite Italian food. I think it is one of the best trattorias that I've ever tried in Melbourne. I ordered Garlic bread, Prosciutto, pasta romana and lemon merengue. We felt like in home, because the people who attended us were attentive, warming and kind. Definitely, we will go back. Grazie mille!

P.s. Maria's is BYO, so you can bring your own wine.

A lovely small Italian trattoria that has the vibrancy and feel of one you may find in a small town in Italy. Wonderful friendly service and hospitality and authentic menu. Unfortunately the pasta was very over cooked and broke easily by my fork. The flavours of the sauce however was well balanced and enjoyable.

Excellent service, highly recommend the Lasagne, unfortunately not the Tiramisu as it lacked savoiardi biscuits resulting in it being too soggy.

Excellent food. Good portions. Pasta with an authentic Italian taste (5*). The tiramisu was well presented but with too much cream (3*).

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant, the food and the service. I got the pollo parmigiana, the napoli sauce is the best I have ever had, the chicken was fresh and proper, the only thing was that the crumb wasn't as crunchy as what I like, but that might just be me. Either way it was bloody delicious and I didn't leave a bite left of it. My fiance got penne alla rosa as a request and that was just as delicious. Portions are massive so you will definitely leave with a button popped. You won't be disappointed.

5/5 for what it is - excellent home-style Italian. No complaints. Went home very happy. Dessert was delicious!

It’s absolutely everything you want from a traditional Italian restaurant. Don’t let the decor fool you, this restaurant has stood the test of time with their classic meals and personable staff. Truly cannot fault it in any way. The pasta Paesana is one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had, highly recommend

Maria's Trattoria is a hidden Italian gem in the North Melbourne suburb. The food is simply delightful and they come in generous portions that leave you very satisfied. And the prices are reasonable for such quality food.

Praise must also be given to their warm and friendly staff. They made me feel like family from the moment I walked in.

It is worth mentioning that the interior looks a bit dated due to the restaurant's long history, but it is still kept very clean and tidy.

A truly awesome restaurant. Pasta was divine and the staff were gracious and welcoming. Yummy desserts as well.

Traditional Italian food - same as Nona’s food. You will not find better in Melbourne, in my top two for Australia and equal first.

Felt like being back in Roma! Great food and service. We didn't have a booking but managed to get a table quickly and before you know it, order was on the table. Bellissimo!

The decor is basic but ambience is warm. Warmth is amplified by the smiles on the staff's face.

The pasta sauce is very authentic but not too heavy! We ordered large playe per person and we managed to finish it all as it's too good to stop eating

Nice and cosy place. The food is absolutely good with signature taste. Reasonable price as well. Highly recommend
