I attended this lavish educational institution when I was a young maiden in the prime years of my life. The teachers were stellar and accommodated to all of their students needs. All of the school facilities available to the students were top notch and were maintained to perfection. When I first arrived at this school, I was filled with mental anguish but throughout my time in Marian College, I discovered that this "agony" that I was experiencing was all but an illusion; I was deceiving myself but through Marian College's expert counselling services, I was cured.
7 stars will bring my future daughters to this school.

School may suck, but remember that it is not that bad at all. Stay in school kids, its fun there.best school ever. The teachers are extremely nice and are very caring, if you need therapy, the school provides FREE therapy. You'll get 6hrs worth of supervision and eternal care from the amazing teachers, including ranting out your problems and getting quality advice, free tissues and hugs and not ONLY that but most teachers PROVIDE FREE FOOD! Some teachers are chill and will give you candy. You get your own laptops, experience many memories with your friends from the many excursions and camps scheduled by the teachers. THIS IS NOT CLICK BAIT.

The school supports the LGBTQ+ community even though it's a Catholic school. The teachers care more about the students uniform then their actual learning. The toilets are horrible especially the year 7&8 toilets, they don't even clean them. There is still one toilet cubicle that hasn't been fixed in a year. The year 8 coordinator Ms Wendy is racist and has favourites.

*I have witnessed all of these events*

Marian is a dreadful Sunshine West school that allows bullying, inappropriate touching, and discrimination against the black students.

The most serious problems include a lack of mental health care, harassment, and unnecessary  strict uniform restrictions.

A student was punished for wearing a black long-sleeved shirt under her uniform, which violated the clothing rule but was needed due to her religion.

Parents should not bring their girls to Marian for so many reasons but not to waste your time they will not be mentioned. Maybe for more information ask a current Marian student.i apologize for any misinformation.

As a student that goes here its a bad school they care more about the length of your socks, skirt, hair and what color hair tie your wearing than the actual learning and the teachers are all just rude and they don't help any of the girls that need extra support and they give out grades based on personality and they do not support any of the students like my friend she struggles a lot with work at school but the teachers never gave her the help or support they just failed her and she only managed to pass one test in term one and they just got mad at her and never helped her and it destroyed her confidence and meatal state and it has made her suicidal so never send your daughter to this school unless you want them to be a depressed person with no self confidence
DO NOT SEND YOUR DAUGHTER TO THIS SCHOOL!

Had my own experiences at this terrible school.office lady's need a attitude change, just because you go home every night to your husband who's probably begging you for a divorce doesn't mean you can take that out on students.teachers have some sort of phobia of hair dye or piercings and think that having my hair down for a split second will cause a third world war.not to even start on the strict rules of the length of your sock to the colour of your hair tie. If they have such rigid regulations, how can they expect teenagers to be themselves? The teachers and coordinators here couldn't care less about your mental health and care more about the image of their school.

This school is so good, with a great education.nice teachers and staff. I just started this year and so far so good.some people don't like that school just because it was bad and their grade was not good enough my two friends left cause of that reason.but I still; recommend taking your daughters here.

I have had my own experiences at this school, it has the great education for your daughter but during my experiences I’ve been handed over lazy marks depending on my personality. I’m a loud extroverted person and usually teachers there love introverted students. The teachers there love to pick and choose which is wrong since it’s a educational ground not a fashion runaway.
Their uniform policy is so strict that I’m not even allowed to have my hair down, I have curly hair which I can’t handle it tied up. The school staff/teachers are racist, one of my friends got expelled depending on her race instead of her persona. They gave me lazy marks also on my race. I recommend you to not go to this school. You’re dumb if you send your daughter there. Most of my friends left this school because they had problems with many teachers especially the year level coordinators.

Pros:
Delighted to see new improvements on school infrastructure, uniforms very presentable.

Cons:
1. Teachers not so great, especially in senior years. Racial and derogortory comments made towards students by teaching staff on multiple occasions and not corrected or overlooked by other stuff members when disclosed by students.
2. Little focus on the actual education and more on events/presentation of the school.

This is a an open letter to teachers,

Just a reminder that you are often the main discussion point during dinner table conversations and your words have impact. Students carry these memories with them for a long time. Sure, everyday is not perfect but this is a school environment and a place that shapes teenagers into young adults, so please be mindful of how your actions impact a human for the long hall.

They chase and contact parents to give information about the students performance and make sure you engage regularly in checking seqta. All activities and excursions are all included in their very reasonable fees. No extra charges or hidden fees.

After reading a review not to send your daughter here for their mental health, I thought I should leave my own opinion (I'm not usually one to review) My daughter has diagnosed mental health issues. The school has gone above and beyond since day 1 to ensure she is happy and cared for. My daughter feels comfortable to speak to her year level co-ordinator if any issues arise during the day. The school is very good at communicating all this with me. I am glad we chose this school as I don't feel she would get the support elsewhere. The best decision we made was to send her to Marian. She is now happily in year 8, has made lots of friends and developed good relationships with her teachers.

To future applicants of 2021

This review is for the future parents of applicants if you love and care for your daughters well being and mental health please I beg you not to send your daughters to Marion college in west sunshine. Because I sent my daughter to this school back in 2014 and my daughter has disability and was continually bullied on a daily basis and not matter how many times I and my daughter would report the incident it would be brushed under the carpet because the school name was far too important because they were worried how they would look amongst the community and education department, And now my daughter suffers very very serious mental health issues and is on serious medication and has been put in hospital on two occasion and I’m carering for her and future is in doubt. Finally I think twice before sending my daughter to this school.

Okay i genuinely like this school! Perhaps i'm being delusional.from my *number* years here i haven't experienced anything super crazily bad.i think the education is pretty good for our area.and most of the students here are intelligent and good people.the school is constantly improving infrastructure, every year they have something improved or built to match modern standards.they help us in career paths by having lessons designated to choosing subjects and expos.i feel happy most days coming to school, i find it a pretty happy place to be.lots wants to leave as soon as possible, but i try to cherish every day here haha.you can call bs, but yeah nah it ain't

Havent been at this school for a while but by far, it's an amazing school. Teachers are funny, kind and so out going and awesome. The 7 and 8 building is amazing and they should make the rest of the buildings quite similar to the 7 and 8.the education is amazing and i want to graduate at this school. They give so many opportunities at this school with singing, dancing and other clubs. They are also not racist and accept all sorts of religions. TAKE YOUR GIRLS TO THIS SCHOOL. ITS AMAZING

I had previously added my experiences of my first year of high school at Marian College onto this review, but as time went by, I thought that it wasn't that impactful coming from one person's point of view. I summarised the faults of the school, as well as disadvantages that Marian College students would have into this review. I hope you take your time to read this extensive review to understand that bringing your daughter to Marian College will be a great limitation for her.

Great disadvantages in life:
If you are scared of your daughter being around boys, don't be. Take her to an co-ed school because it will do more good than Marian College.
Young females need to learn to interact and to work with males. In the future, at work, in uni or tafe, life in general, it will not be all girls. I guarantee you men will be around and girls need to start being around boys at this age in order to learn and to be aware of their actions. School isn't just about learning, it's also about being able to deal with dodgy teachers/leaders/bosses, mean girls, drama, BOYS. This sound like high school drama, I know. But when you think about it, it's what many working Australian's deal with. Bringing your daughter to Marian College will put her at a great disadvantage in the future, as working with men will be a new experience for her, and it shouldn't be like that.

Education:
Normally people just assume that you pay a lot of money to attend a good school. Well, that isn't always the case. Marian College provides the most basic education that other public schools have. Some other schools in the Western area have better students with higher ATAR scores than Marian College. This school is currently ranked 260 in the 'Better Education Rank' in Victoria. Compare this to a school in the area like Caroline Chisholm (not being bias I don't attend this school), they have a ranking of 190. You can't really argue against that, since it's just an embarrassment and many students and parents of Marian College claim that this school has a high level of education. Well now, we all know that Marian College doesn't have the best education out there.

Expensive:
From the humiliation of their education, why pay thousands of dollars on that? You expect high quality education for your child. Well, you can't get that unless you go to a school with the best education ranking in this state. Most of these best schools are either really pricey (we are talking about tens of thousands a year), are in rich suburbs or they're selective schools. If you can't afford to spend tens of thousands of dollars on your child to get good education, then you might as well send them to a public school.

Religion:
As this is a Roman-Catholic school, learning Religion as a subject is compulsory. And to be honest, it's a waste of time that could be used for other useful subjects. Learning the bible might be 'teaching good life lessons' and 'giving discipline' but students should know this themselves. And most students don't even bother remembering anything they've learnt within the subject. Let me tell you, explaining this is very weird coming from a Religious girl, but I feel like Religion is a useless subject.

Uniform:
I know what you're thinking. This is bias. Yes it is. But for good reason. I honestly don't care about the price. It's expensive of course it's an expensive school. Have you ever wondered about why schools are so strict on uniform? A lot of the reasons why schools have such a strict uniform policy is because it sets their students for the future at places such as offices and courts. We have to look professional and formal in these places. But is Marian College a good place for practises like these? For me, no. Good practise? You cannot have good practise at a school if the education level is very average.

I honestly think that these positive reviews on Marian College are completely bias and are only from one student's point of view which really frustrates me. Thank you for reading till the end and I hope you understand where I am coming from.
