Came here for the first time just after they opened and haven’t stopped coming back. Wonderful service and a very relaxing vibe. Oh and the coffee is fantastic too.

I drive 10mins whenever I can to get a cup of coffee from them, even though I have 5 local cafe I can easily walk to. Something special about their coffee, the atmosphere, the staff, makes you want to go back more often. My fav is their nitrogen cold brew. 5 star without any questions.

I stopped drinking takeaway coffee (or resorted to moccha if I was desperate) when I got my espresso machine a few years back, but when it went in for a service recently I decided to try out Mantaray.

Honestly, short of customising my own brew, this is hands down the best coffee you can get in Melbourne.

Large latte no sugar, get the loyalty card on your first visit. You won't be disappointed!

Happened upon Mantaray coffee today, and really enjoyed its little corner of boutique coffee. Long black (house blend) and flat white (seasonal blend) as in photo. Loved the logo and how it is discretely placed around the venue. Nice gifts too.

Newly opened, just dropped my car off next door and discovered this brand new coffee shop.

Newly opened, just dropped my car off next door and discovered this brand new coffee shop. They source and roast their own coffee on the premises and have a variety of ways to have your caffeine hit made! Mine is a flat white, very nice!
Andy is the friendly manager.
Parking can be a problem around here though.

Must try V60 filter coffee. It’s fancy fully automated.
Glad to see high quality speciality roaster in eastern suburb. Tried El Diviso and brought Gesha home.

The man, the mystery, the coffee, the master. Some say he hears coffee beans speak and understands the language. Some say he takes every single bean for a walk before laying them to the roasting bed. Others say he just serves some of the best coffee you’ll ever have.
Whatever you believe, the coffee is superb and the layout is minimalist with every aspect given full attention to detail.
Make a trip out and you won’t be disappointed!

Last week I had the great pleasure to visit Manta Ray Coffee Roasters in the East of Melbourne. The café and roastery just opened a few weeks ago. The spacious place comes with a high ceiling and is very bright. The polished concrete floor looks very sleek and fits the concrete benches and the wooden tables. At the entrance to your left, you will spot the astonishing espresso bar. Right after, you can pick your tasty looking pastry before you walk over to the pour over section. Finally, in the back you see the roasting area through the large glass windows with the roller door. It is always a pleasure to see how they roast the coffee you enjoy.

I enjoyed two delicious filter coffees. The first coffee was from Kenya, PB Rungeto Kiangoi, washed SL 28, SL 34, and Batian. The second coffee is very well known now on a global level: El Diviso, natural Sidra.

What surprised me was the degree of automation to deliver consistently high-quality coffee beverages: they are using an automatic tamper, a fully automatic milk texturing device and even the pour over machine was fully automatic. Manta Ray is a great example of how automation even support to high-end specialty coffee shops to deliver consistency – the key to make customers happy, again, and again and again.
