Man Bo Restaurant

It used to be a great place to go. Unfortunately food quality and service has dropped more recently. Decided to give them another go tonight and was disappointed. Won’t be returning again.

As we wandered down Moorabool St, my wife was hoping to find a bidet when we smelt the aroma of special fried rice wafting from inside Manbo.
Lured inside temptation got the better of us.
The food was beyond
amazing! So fresh!
The staff were so friendly and relaxed it was so refreshing. Our last visit to Manbo was tainted by the very unpleasant owner none other than fat Jackie Chan.
He needs a karate chop to the head.
Strangely enough my wife couldn’t flush the bidet because there was no water to the premises.

Great service, great wine list and the food was delicious.and great for bookings of all sizes. Overall experience exceeded my expectations.

I think this is the best and most authentic Chinese food. Pretty much every dish is really delicious. I love so many dishes there. It’s really hard to pick the favorite one.

Atmosphere and service were fine, but some of the choices were STRAIGHT UP plain and horrible.

The egg noodle with ginger scallion sauce was just a bundle of noodles with some slices of ginger and spring onion. Huge $16 scam.

Alex and his triad were great and provided excellent customer service with excellent food. Ecstatic…

Since changing hands, Man Bo has gone from strength to strength.
Particular care has been taken with the wine list, and it's a pleasure to talk food and wine with the staff who are lovely and have a wicked sense of humour.
On Monday night we were a little short on time towards the end of our banquet as we had a movie to see nearby. The staff quickly brought us containers to take the remaining food home and rushed our desserts to us. Man Bo is excellent, and was very busy on a Monday night which is great to see when so many restaurants choose not to open early in the week.

Ordered takeaway tonight for 8 people not one person enjoyed it. Not good chinese at all if that's what you want to call it.bland & no taste nobody went back for seconds & all in the bin waste of money if you ask me.

Lovely Chinese restaurant with great ambience; swing and jazz music on throughout; makes you feel like you walked into an old Chinese American club

Food was good, worth the surroundings and service. Lovely Chinese waitress who kept checking on us though lunch time was a busy period.

We sampled a variety of dishes including Xiao long Bao, century egg with silken tofu and steamed barramundi fillet.

Recommend trying this place out as it is like a walk into the past with their music. Great collection I must say.

Delicious! Worth the trip all the way to Geelong just to eat dimsums lol. The dimsums were all freshly done, same with the tofu. Will be going back again.

My wife and twin sister had their 60th birthday here with 24 family members in attendance. Hosts Mia and Alex were wonderful. Nothing was a problem and they were very helpful in planning what was a terrific night. Food was amazing, staff super friendly. Don't hesitate in coming to this restaurant!

Amazing xiao long bao. The owners of Sober Ramen have taken over. Food is exceptional, service is amazing. Love the yum cha Sundays. This will be our new regular. If you like authentic Chinese food you will love it here.

It is for the post below why this venue should be never supported and shut down. Rude, arrogant and utterly disrespectful. I am ashamed to have the owners and venue in Geelong.

Have been going to man bo for years, glad to see the new owners have updated the menu, food delicious, wine selection impeccable, service amazing and perfect for large groups. Always loved the interior, will be back soon!

Bought take away. Too much batter on the lemon chicken. Flavours were all different in all our dishes. Increased the price of some dramtically and changed the flavours of others. Different management makes a big difference. I think an icon of Geelong is on the wane. I won't be coming back. Actually when I picked up the take away order the staff at the front counter were complaining about the new owners attitude and behaviours. It was actually very funny. They didn't want to tell him anything because he couldn't control his temper. I think this place will be sold again soon. Won't be eating here again until it returns to its previous glory. Like I said it used to be an icon. Over to you new owner! Tell me you are happy to never see me again.

Stunning food, affordable drinks and beautiful service. The staff are very attentive with a friendly and loving personality every time I come here. I never get disappointed even if it's a busy night.

Devastated to spend an hour waiting for our food to arrive, only to be greeted with a single main course.
We had collectively ordered an array of entrees and rice to compliment our main, so you can imagine our surprise when a single dish was all that was received after an hour of waiting. After the staff frantically ran around for another 15 minutes while our main went cold, we were told that our order wasn’t submitted to the kitchen and they hadn’t begun making it.
With a cold chicken dish sitting in front of us, and no other food in sight, we were forced to leave the restaurant empty handed and disappointed.
I would not recommend booking any special occasions at Manbo - there is no guarantee that you will be fed.

I’ve been going to man bo for some time now and had a wonderful lunch there the other day. The new owners are kicking goals w some tweaks to the menu leading to a smaller but more more focused selection. The plates are tastier, and more complex which for me justifies the slight increases in some prices. The staff were very kind and efficient. Tidy little cocktail list and plenty of wines to suit all palates. Can’t wait to come back and try the dim sum one day soon. Keep it up team!
