Malaysian Kampung Restaurant

1st time customer, ordered the chicken, beef, veggies and rice for takeaway, got home to find the chicken was raw! Unfortunately didn’t realised until after my 1st bite. It’s going to be a long 1-3 days wait to see how sick I am going to get!

Food was authentic. Their nasi kandar was a generous portion. Had the beef rendang, cabbage and eggplant dishes with it. Coconut rice tasted great. The fish curry that came with the roti was delicious, just like what I used to have back home.

Saw another customer having mee goreng which looked like the Indian mee goreng back home too. Haven't seen this dish in Melbourne. Will definitely order it to try the next time I visit.

Authentic Malaysian food. The best I've had in Australia. Compares well to Malaysia food in Malaysia.

I always enjoy their ayam masak merah (chicken in spicy and tomato sauce) and mee goreng (fried noodle). Of cause can’t go without the tea tarik (pulled milk tea).

Service - Lady boss is a very friendly person. If you are not in the rush and ok to spend little bit longer there to wait for your order to be served then you should give a try.

Been visiting MKR for a few years now and had it again over the weekend. As usual food is always spot on, nasi kandar is always a delight, the mee goreng this time was a miss but still good! Definitely a must try for those who want some real malaysian street food.

One of the best roti canai I had in Melbourne. It was crispy and flakey.
Mee goreng was nice too, will be back next time for their nasi kandar.

One of the best malaysian restaurant I have been through. Such a homely place and our go to place, especially on weekends. Their beef rendtang and spicy chicken are a must try.

First time trying MKR and it was a wonderful experience! We had the Mee Goreng mamak and Nasi lemak. Special mention to the Nasi Lemak sambal which reminded me of food back home. Overall, food was authentic, affordable and generous portion. Service was great too! Look forward to trying more dishes from here. Will definitely visit again!

We went in with great expectations after reading other reviews but get the impression that this restaurant is for a select audience. It appears this venue is evocative of Malaysian hawker food and locations. The food was quite average - mostly over fried and spiced. The venue also had a strong overhang of aromas. The bright part was the service. The lady at the counter was very friendly patient in explaining the menu. Other staff served us with a smile. So perhaps this is a good choice for those who've enjoyed authentic Malaysian hawker food.

Authentic malaysian food in Bentleigh. I enjoyed the nasi kandar special, of all the dishes, my favourite was the chilli eggplant. Spicy with a soft and mushy texture. Parking is available at the rear.

I dont know have to wait 30 min for a roti gravy when the roti is there (reason chef is on holiday) but i wont mind to give another try

Ordered from this place recently after so long and it made me realise how much I missed authentic hawker style Malaysian food. The flavours were amazing and I got food envy from what my friends ordered. Will definitely be back again soon. There are limited seats in this place, so takeaway is the most convenient option.

Is very delicious authentic Malaysia food. Highly recommended if you miss Malaysia food. Roti canai and nasi lemak is very nice.

Great tasting Malaysian food. The staff are friendly and service is very quick. We ordered the Nasi lemak and Nasi goreng, roti egg and the eggplant dish and weren't disappointed with the flavours

MKR you have gained a new fan! Such an authentic and tasty Malaysian food, I had no idea about it until someone recommended this place to me.
The five of us had all the followings:
1. Nasi Kandar Special - the best nasi kandar I’ve ever tasted in Melbourne. Very generous portion and really cheap only $19.9, one is too big for me and could probably feed two people.
2. Mee Goreng Mamak - also the best mee goreng, no exaggeration needed. Really good spice and heat level, can also taste the wokhey.
3. Nasi Goreng Mamak - not as great as the other two but my family enjoy it very much, kid friendly as it’s not as spicy
4. Roti Planta and Roti Telur Keju - perfect roti texture. Really cheap and tasty.
Will be back for sure. I’d like to try nasi lemak next time.

Unfortunately, I'm the person no matter how great your food is.if you're constantly close and do not take phone order.you get ranked really low in my book.

The food is really good, staffs are friendly too! Gets crowded pretty quickly during peak hours. Def recommending this place to try out!

Best Vegetarian Mee Goreang Mamak!
Roti Canai is also amazing. All handmade and fresh, hence takes a bit of time during peak hours. Better than the malaysian chain outlets in Melb!
