Malay Momma reviews
22Really delicious malasian food at southbank. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food price also reasonable.
No vegan options. However, you can ask them what they can make vegetarian. They will recommend you. I tried mi goreng which is a rice dish. And it was amazing.
Excellent need rendang. Lovely staff. Very well priced. Totally recommended for a quick bite.
Absolutely amazing food. This place is a hidden gem. So authentic and very well priced. We had chicken laksa beef spring rolls chicken curry roti and beef rendang.

Back in Melbourne for a couple of days and couldn’t go past eating here again. Just so delicious and delightful. I recommend everything you really can’t go wrong. The prices are to match very good!
So Tasty - So Good!
You cannot pass this place without going in AND OR take away.
Had the roti canai with curry sauce, curry chicken & curry puffs (and some fresh chilli). Oh my goodness delicious. Brought back memories of tasty Malaysian food.
Hot fresh food, great quick service & friendly staff! A place to not miss!
My Southbank Malaysian spot to go to.
Delicious and affordable food! Everything we got was yummy, and I was so surprised that a bowl of laksa was only $13.90. The owner was very welcoming and provided us with chilli oil and sambal which were also very good. Will definitely be back to try more.
Tried curry laksa at this restaurant. It was delicious. The staff is super nice and the place is clean and has a good vibe.
Great little spot for a quality Laksa among other popular Malay dishes. Service is very kind and welcoming.
Very authentic Malaysian food. Hor Fun with egg sauce is cooked to perfection - hor fun was full of wok hey and egg sauce was smooth and silky. Food is also not too salty and presented well. Curry laksa was delicious and spot on. Nasi goreng was slightly different from the Malay style we were familiar with but it’s delicious! Service staff and cashier were friendly and helpful. Chef looks out of the kitchen to smile and acknowledge guests. Very friendly environment and good food. Highly recommended!
Lovely vibe with realy nice staff. Had the curry laksa which satisfied my cravings and then some! Rich, delicious flavour, not watered down like some other places. Will be back!
Have always been buying from this restaurant. It's just next door, and food quality is great! I especially like the chicken ribs on rice (my all-time favourite). The laksa tastes authentic, too. The place is always busy every time I visit, which explains the quality Staff members were also friendly and accommodating. Recommended if you're looking for Malaysian food in Southbank!
Hor fun is authentic, everything else CMI.
Honey chicken is cooked like a snack, Special fried rice is subpar compared to normal hawker standard. Its not even that cheap. Really disappointed
Malay Momma’s curries remind me of the dishes that were staple to an almost lost food culture of the Malay people in South Africa. It’s my comfort food of choice or THE celebratory meal, consistently delicious. Malay Momma’s staff are lovely and dining in is a pleasurable experience.
Amazing homely meal!
Definitely worth trying vegetarian laksa and passionfruit tea.
Very good but I have a small recommendation:
Please please consider more vegetarian/ vegan options for all sections (noodle soup, laksa etc.has chicken broth). I promise you you will get more business for everyone that lives nearby.
Nice little restaurant, friendly staff, and reasonable prices.
We had the curry laksa which I recommend, it was the best! My partner had the chicken noodle wok soup which was a bit bland (could be improved with maybe some more salt, ginger and garlic).
Authentic yummy Malaysian food. Excellent and friendly service. Highly recommended. Very good value for money.
The food here tastes amazing. The sweet n sour pork and chicken curry were a 10/10. We also ordered side dishes such as the spring rolls and curry puffs and they were delicious! Staff were also very friendly and hospitable and the prices were great value for money. Would 100% recommend and definitely going to visit again.
We were late and the waitress welcomed us in although they closed at 3pm. We had vegetarian laksa which was perfect. The waitress was very friendly and chatted to us while we ate.
Authentic malaysian food with a wide variety of options in non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes. Nice ambience with friendly staff. There are colourful kids tableware and cutlery which are kept at a reachable height for kids. Don't forget to try thier nasi goreng and char kway teow!
