We have had three children attend the Maharishi School, spanning across 10 years and our experience has been a positive one. It's a place where our children have been cared for, nurtured and encouraged to develop their talents and shine in their own unique ways. We have particularly valued the inclusion of daily meditation as part of the curriculum which has given our children a tool for life. The school follows the normal Victorian school curriculum, so our children have all been ready and prepared for high school. Teachers and the Principal at the school have always been available to speak to when and if required and communication between families and the school is encouraged and valued. The opportunities this school has provided our children have been extensive and include: leadership development with an SRC (Student Representative Council) program involving all year levels, and even greater leadership responsibility and opportunities in senior years; public speaking development; learning of a musical instrument and Auslan; involvement in School Productions including stage and video productions; sporting opportunities including tennis, cricket, soccer, basketball, athletics and cross country; lunch-time clubs; school camps and student leadership conferences; artwork exhibited in public exhibitions, as well as participation in Victorian Science competitions, the National ANZAC Day Schools Awards and external Maths competitions; and finally the opportunity to participate in a beautiful Rite of Passage day with an Indigenous Elder at the end of Grade 6 to conclude their primary school years. Making the choice for what primary school our children attended was a very personal and individual one, and for us, the Maharishi School was the right choice for our kids.

My daughter hasn't yet reached school age, but I have attended the school to learn transcendental meditation myself this year. For me personally it has been one of the best things I've ever done for myself, and I can't think of a better gift to give to my daughter than to let her learn this easy and peaceful practice.
Updated 2020 - it has been a difficult year with lockdown but being at this school has helped us through it all. We have felt the love and support of staff the whole way through and now my daughter is back with her prep class she is so happy. It is such a gem of a school, and even though a bit of a drive for our family, so worth it!

I have a son grade prep and a daughter in grade 2 at Maharishi school and we could not be happier! Both kids are thriving and they absolutely love their little school. From the beautifully nurturing staff teaching self awareness, emotional intelligence and transcendental meditation, I believe we could not have chosen a better school to set our kids up for life with solid foundations. So much love and gratitude to have found this wonderful community.

My daughter recently joined Maharishi school and she has really exelled, became self confident and was able to have lots of friends although its has a small compliment of students as compared to the school she was in before. I cant talk more highly of this school, students, teachers and parents are amazing. I don't mind the long hours of travel, and sacrifice, it is well worth it. My Daughter loves it here, and I am very happy about her progress.

The Maharishi school is a wonderful environment in which our son has flourished. Transitioning from a home school environment to grade prep has been such a joy for both him and us as parents to watch. On the day we toured the school we felt such a warmth and welcoming that we knew straight away this was the place we wanted to send our son. We were so happy with everything we heard with all the benefits the school had to offer our son, not only as a student but as a member of his community.

On his very first day of school he was greeted by his fellow peers and was approached by two lovely older students who offered to help him find his locker and put his bag away. He made a comment that night on how nice it was for them to help him on his first day and how happy it made him feel. He is paired with a buddy that is so caring and patient that he says on a daily basis how much he enjoys his buddy's company and guidance. This is one of the things we love about the school is that there is no restriction of age when playing in the school yard. My son loves the fact that he is able to play with the bigger kids and feel included despite being younger than them. To know that our son has such remarkable role models to look up too brings a feeling of peace and content knowing that he is in a safe, caring and positive environment.

Being an independent and smaller school we are delighted that our son just isn't another number in the school, he is seen as an individual who is known by name. We are amazed at how many programs the school has to offer such as homework club, speech therapy, piano lessons, after school care - all in which our son participates in and so much more.
Being able to enrol our son in piano lessons and speech therapy during school hours has made it so much easier on the day to day for our family as he can do this all within the school.

I think the biggest benefit of the school though would have to be the transcendental meditation that each student and parent is required to learn. It is such a wonderful and important life skill that benefits the child not only now but in years to come. Our son practise his TM twice a day every day and it has helped him in expressing emotions and using his words to voice how he feels. Having a life skill to help reduce stress, anxiety and increase self development is something we are grateful that the school is able to give to our son.

The school is like no other and could not recommend it highly enough to potential new parents looking at this school. Every single teacher and staff member are such a delight to communicate with its as if you've know each other for years. Every day you walk into the school gate it feels just like home. What an amazing way to feel every day of your primary school life for all the kids that attend Maharishi School.

Being new parent at Maharishi School, we are very happy about the decision to choose this school for my 5yo son. He is enrolled for prep this year and he is enjoying every bit of his school time. Principal Mr Steve Charisis & teaching & admin staff are so cooperative with the kids & families that we can’t speak high enough of them.
So far the journey with the School is amazing and we are looking forward for the best foundation years of our kid at Maharishi.
Good wishes & regards

My involvement with Maharishi school began quite serendipdously when an employer introduced me to transcendental meditation as a way to encourage focus and well being in her workplace. At that time, my son was a baby and his education was not a thought that we were hugely invested in - we were enjoying being a new family of three and found joy in watching him grow and play.
When the time finally came to enrol him in primary school it was without a doubt he would attend Maharishi. We had a warm and welcoming introduction to the school and were explained the importance and value of conscious based education and felt instantly a part of a nurturing school community.
First term down and all our expectations have been fulfilled. Our little guy is flourishing and a part of a community that not only nurtures him academically but considers his well being first and foremost. We have seen the most incredible achievements in him academically and socially in such a short amount of time and can simply put this down to the school's commitment to conscious based education as well as it's "open-door" policy which always makes us feel we have access to time with our incredible principal, the wonderful teachers and support staff. We have always been made to feel as though our questions are considered and valued and so have our son's.
In a short time, we have watched our son's confidence grow in regards to forming relationships with his peers. It has come so naturally in this supportive environment. He has been allowed the space to explore the decision making process with somewhere safe to come to whenever there are questions. Independent learning programs assure us that our child's needs are constantly being considered and met. This is vital in the foundation years!
We can not speak highly enough of this school. In our short time here, we have felt welcomed and above all, the most important thing is our child is happy! Eager to get to school, and often disappointment at pick up time when he would rather stay and take part in the school's wonderful after care program:)
A conscious based education has been hugely beneficial for our son who in the past has found it difficult to channel his energy during times of learning. Implementing this into his school day has allowed him the opportunity to approach his learning with calm and focus. We have even noticed the difference in his general well-being.
We have three children and every much look forward to having them all attend Maharishi. It is a small school with a huge heart and we feel very fortunate as a family to be part of it.

My daughter is currently in Grade 6 at the Maharishi School.
She started at the school halfway through Grade 1 after being a school refuser at her mainstream primary school. Not only did she love the Maharishi School from the moment she set foot in the place but I also felt that the teacher got to know her better in one week than the other school had In a year and a half. She loved it so much that she insisted for the first couple of years in me driving her past the school during the school holidays just to look at it! She has a passion for learning and loves to be involved in all of the diverse extra curricular activities available to the students.

From the moment she started at the school we were always impressed by how friendly and welcoming the older children were to not only the students but the parents as well. The older students always acted as such great friends and role models to her that it inspired her to do the same as she moved up in the school.

She recently asked me to make sure to come and watch her play with the prep boys after school like she does regularly at recess or lunch time. She chased them around like crazy, they screamed, she had fun and I felt incredibly proud. Being a small school it really has a country vibe in that all the kids and families get to know each other really well. She has attended two of the Prep boys birthday parties this year so far. She was so chuffed to get the invitations from them and had a great time.

The school has a fantastic leadership program and she couldn’t be more proud to be Vice Captain this year. In her position she really feels heard and that she can make a difference and give back to the school.

During the past few years our family has dealt with more than our fair share of misfortune.
The empathy, support and care we have received from the staff has been both genuine and extraordinary. I will always be grateful for how each one of them supported our family in times of struggle. I feel that this care was not just because Maharishi School is a small school but because of how kind, sensitive and in tune the staff are as people.

We are sad that her time at the school is coming to an end but she is feeling ready, prepared and excited for her next chapter, High School, that is beginning next year.

My Husband and I could not recommend the Maharishi School enough to prospective families who are after a school with a fantastic Principal, staff, community and heart.

My son has been at the maharishi school since prep and now he is in grade 4 and my daughter is now in grade 2. For that last five years we have been involved with the school, it has been an amazing experience in terms of our kids growth both academically, personally and in every other way. The school curriculum may be the same in most primary schools but what is exceptional At Maharishi is that the kids overall personality development.they become very confident, caring and great human beings full of confidence to take on the world.all thanks to the great teachers of Maharishi school who make sure to invest all their energy and time to ensure that each and every kids gets full attention and is taken care of in the best possible manner.
You enjoy a great rapport with the whole school staff and it feels like a very close knit family as the whole school staff know you and your kids.you feel the confidence that your kids are in the hands of best possible, fully trained and caring teachers and staff who will bring the best out of your child.
Especially for someone like our daughter who was very reserved and hardly talking when she joined prep at Maharishi and within the prep year she became a different person and is full of confidence.we would like to extend our heartiest thanks to the whole school community of Maharishi school for providing a great environment for your kids to learn and enjoy the best years of their life at Primary school.

I would be happy to talk if someone wants to know any further details of this amazing and exceptional school.thankful

My son is in his 3rd year at Maharishi School and my daughter will be starting prep next year. I can’t speak highly enough for the school, the people (students, teachers & parents) and the philosophy of Consciousness Based Education. It’s a wonderful community that truly cares for one another. The first thing I noticed when I did the school tour was the energy of the place, it’s calming and welcoming. My son is thriving at Maharishi School and have no doubt that my daughter will next year also. The children are treated as individuals and encouraged and supported to be their best by expressing their creativity and passion. They also practice their meditation twice per day which is one of the greatest gifts to give your child.
The teaching staff are incredibly talented, supportive and approachable. It’s the kind of place where everyone is enabled to be their best including the parents. The school runs regular seminars for families on various topics and of course parents also learn and practice Transcendental Meditation at the school.
And, there are so many wonderful opportunities for the children to take part in different activities such as various sports, art, music, chess, choir, cooking, drama etc.
Highly recommend

It is with great appreciation and love that I write this review of our beautiful school and how it has enriched the lives of our children and family. Words cannot express the full extent of the blessings the School has provided to all the children that attend our school, but I’m going to try and do it justice.
First and foremost our family has been involved with Maharishi Primary Scool for over 8 years now, and we have seen it grow and flourish into the amazing school that it is today. The school has gone through changes that although were difficult for everybody at the time, needed to occur in order for our school to flourish to its full potential. School communities constantly change and this should not be seen as a negative thing, but more importantly a positive experience as change brings about growth.
Our new principal has provided great leadership, support and vision to our school community. Our teachers and staff at the school remain dedicated and committed to the wellbeing of all our students. This school has allowed my children to be themselves and flourish in the knowing of who they are. I have seen the enormity of this gift through my oldest daughters transition to high school. She has made this transition with ease and confidence which I attribute to the love, nurturing and support she was given in her foundation years. The best way that I can describe my children’s teaching experience is that this school (from the teaching staff, principal, and the wonderful Suzi Haynes in the office) has nurtured the seed within our children to allow them to grow into the young people they will become. My husband and I truly believe that this is priceless. Having both worked with high risk young people for over 20 years, we knew the importance of developing this resilience and inner knowing within our children was an imperative component of their education. Resilience in children is developed through nurturing loving and inspiring relationships with adults that care deeply about them. I can honestly say, that all the teachers and staff have provided my children with these nurturing relationships. Given that our school is small in numbers, it gives all children the opportunity to form solid real and nurturing relationships with their teachers and each other.
We also chose this school as it teaches TM meditation to the students and parents. TM has become a big part of our lives and has been an amazing blessing to all our family. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Transendental Meditation, please read up on it. You will be blown away by the ease of the technique and it’s benefits to the mind, body and spirit. This is a priceless gift that the children will carry with them throughout their lives, and can always return to it in challenging times as a technique to deal with challenges and stress. Mediation is the key to inner peace and world peace.
Some of School offering include:
*Excellent educational program, including individual learning plans
*Music program
*Excellent before and after school care program
*Co-curriculum programs including tennis, sporting programs
*Warm caring nurturing classrooms
*Afterschool programs including drama, art, maths, creative writing, robotics, science
*Loving caring relationships and much much more.

You may have heard the saying, ‘it takes a Community to raise a child’, and our school community does this with great commitment and love for all its students.

If any of my words have made you consider our school, please call and come and visit our beautiful school. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Our school is like a precious gem, waiting to embrace all of its future children and families.

With love and light, The Omerogullari family

School fees have now jumped to 7,500 a year which I can only assume is to cover the 51% of students that left at the end of last year.

Most expensive playdate you'll ever get. Seriously, consider every other option available for your child regarding the school you choose before you waste your money on this one, I wish I had.

My daughter has attended Maharishi Primary school since prep. She is now in grade 6. She is well in advance in her academics which I believe this is due to the fact that the teachers are so nurturing with their students, as well as having more time to dedicate to their students due to being a small school. The meditation is an added bonus as it teaches students how to relax and cope with everyday life. There are so many more positives to Maharishi school then any other primary school. I am so delighted I sent my daughter to Maharishi primary, that I hope other parents read this and take in my positive feedback. You will be so happy as well.

My daughter would like to talk about her experience at this school.

I have been at this school since prep and I have always felt so comfortable here. The teachers and students are so caring and nurturing. I am really enjoying being a leader at this school. Maharishi school offers leadership roles in year 5 and 6. There are also class captains in every class so even the younger students get a chance to be leaders.

Meditation has had a huge impact on my life. It gives me time to take 10 minutes and sit with my eyes closed and travel to my own place. It also boosts my confidence in class and helps my concentration. It also helps relieve stress. Instead of taking medication for stress just meditate. It really helps.

One of the best things about this school are the teachers. They are so caring. The advantages of a small school is that students get more one on one time with teachers. That way, students can learn more. If there are any issues the staff address them asap and always end up solving the problem.

If you are looking for a school for your child, this is the school to come to. It offers stress free learning and has an anti bullying policy. You can trust that your child is in safe hands. Being at this school has changed my life and I'm sure it will change yours.

My daughter started at Maharishi School this year as a Foundation student, and her transition to school has been an absolute dream. From the moment she (and our family) walked into the school gates for the first time, she has been nurtured, supported, cared for, respected, listened to, encouraged, and included by every single staff member and fellow student.

Learning her Word of Wisdom, and meditating for 5 minutes (twice per day) with her classmates, is teaching her to cultivate a unique sense of calmness and tranquility that not many other 5 year olds get to experience, especially within a school environment.

The school's classrooms are warm and inviting, and with a gesture as small as taking their shoes off before entering their room, the students are consciously learning to look after, and be respectful of their surroundings.

My daughter has been learning all the standard curriculum that is required to be taught to our children, as well as several fantastic extra co-curricular programs (such as piano lessons) ; but without a doubt, what has made all the difference to my daughter's education so far, is the fact that she is treated as an individual and she understands that she is an integral part of the school community.

I watch my daughter (and her little brother) run to the school gate with an enormous smile on her face every single morning. To me, that says it all!

The Maharishi School in Reservoir is a gem. No other school in Australia offers this kind of comprehensive education. I highly recommend it.

Both of my children have attended Maharishi school since Prep and we are truly delighted and satisfied with every aspect of our school. They are now in Grade 3 and Grade 6 and have flourished in the supportive, exciting, enriching and happy environment that this school fosters.

I learnt Transcendental Meditation when I was 21 and it was only by chance that we stumbled across the school when we moved into the area. My partner and I are thrilled that we have been able to give our children a small-school experience with a unique perspective added to the standard Victorian Curriculum. To learn meditation as a child can have profoundly positive effects on a child well-being and I believe will hopefully offset some of the awful pressures and stressors that are inherent in our world. My older daughter and I now meditate together, which I cherish.

The school's Consciousness Based Education develops children's natural desire to make sense of their world and to incorporate these understandings into their approach to life. My children have never been told what to believe. Rather, they are offered simple philosophical ideas and concepts, encouraged to find things out for themselves and are supported in their enquiry. I'm often struck by the natural wisdom my children demonstrate.

They also kick footballs, play down-ball, go on lots of excursions, run around, participate in art club and choir, sing in the local nursing home and at the Melbourne Town Hall, join in interschool sport, play tiggy and do cart-wheels, just to name a few. And importantly, our children are also thriving academically.

My daughters have often asked why they can't go to school on the weekend. They are excited to go to school with a rich learning environment and an extremely high quality teaching faculty. My children's' teachers have always been extremely attuned, committed and loving. They have provided unique insights into our girls, assisting us in our important role as parents.

The school did undergo a transformational process in 2015, with some upheaval and difficulty. Our family chose to remain at the school, put energy and support in making some necessary changes and we are so glad we did. I believe that our school is better than ever.

I encourage you to experience our Maharishi School for yourself. Ask our children how they feel about their school? I believe their perspective is an important one.

Its a good environment for children to grow up in. I am doing work experience here. I came back, as I thoroughly enjoyed being a student at the school for a year and it was a wonderful environment to be in. As a student teacher, I have enjoyed being involved with the children.

This school seems to constantly blossom. The individualised learning, the sports programs, the mental and emotional support for the kids. The new literacy and numeracy after school initiatives. Combine all that the Maharishi's principles. Well done to the principal and his team.
Feeling blessed.
