Lysterfield Park reviews
46 This park is well known by Mountain Bike riding, kayaking and weekend gathering, got tons of free BBQ spots, kangaroos are everywhere at late arvo, there is no rubbish bins so you have to prepare some bags for bagging your own rubbish.
Kids love it. A playground around the bbq area would be an amazing add on.
Place has it all.
Beach - yes you can swim in it
Walking trails
BBQ facilities
Toilets
Mountain Bike trails
Kayaking / Paddle boating
Circumnavigation of lake takes around 90mins / 5.5kms
You can do shorter walks.
Plenty of Kangaroos, look out for Wallabies and many birds as well.
You'll always find wallabies in the bushes inside, the walking trail is nice and the wide open lake is very captive.
Good place to enjoy with your family and friends. Big lake to sail as well BBQ option with a big playground
Great place for families and love walking track there and vike track. No swimming sign but lots of people swim.still good.
Such a beautiful place for walk, track is nice and flat, changing scenery as you walk along just beautiful.
So I recently explored Lysterfield Park further than what I normal do when I visit and my gosh this place is beautiful! We went early in the morning, saw tones of kangaroos, a wallaby (I think), bunnies, bull ants, parrots and a duck family. There are hidden ponds and scenic views. The look out is stunning! People out running and bike riding, families out. It was really nice to really explore and see the full beauty of Lysterfield park.
Best place for picnic with families or friends. Can enjoy tracking, bike trails, walk near the lake and have bbq. Kangaroos pass people quite closely and indifferently.
What a stunning place! Thoroughly enjoyed being here, so accessible and loads of parking distributed around so there's no crowded places. Definitely going back here. Great place for families and so much to do swim, paddle, ride walk or just picnic with a good book. Love it
All the spaces are very open. Amazing, in love. It was our first time as a family and we simply enjoyed it. Lake, paddles, kangaroos, birds, just gorgeous. So many families having picnics, bike riding, walking, running, excellent for all sort of activities.
Nice enough place for a walk but way too busy no place to park and one way in and out despite there being other gates which are locked. Took 2 hours to exit absolutely terrible management l.
What i like most is the very organised car parking with bay numbers. The park is clean and tidy with ample picnic benches and play area. Only problem i found was the shared Walking/riding path. You have to be very mindful of riders and skaters. I hope they will widen the path with clear instructions in future.
The park is fine and it's a nice place to go for a walk etc, but was extremely busy, not alot of social distancing. Will be staying away for a while.
For the park it's self I consider it to be awesome but unfortunately the people and how busy it gets let's it down. Definitely not a nice quite place very busy and full of people. No animals or pets aloud also. The MTB track is great definitely not epic but it's soild. Has good picnic areas (if you can find the space for it) and the walking tracks are awesome. Unfortunately my rating is low because it's just way to overly busy and full all the time
Does well to cater to all rider abilities, overall you can ride all trails as there is always options to take a b line or challenge yourself, park will suit most people of all levels, if your looking for serious downhill action Lysterfield may not suit your needs but as for me there is more then enough fun, only thing I dont like is there is way to much pedalling flat and uphill trails, but again it all comes down to what you like and your style XC or Enduro DH ect. Overall I don't think you will be disappointed it's good all round place to learn skills and practice or train for XC. Highly recommended it.
Early morning walks with the hubby around the lake is so peaceful and calming, just what you need before you start a busy week of work
Good tracks for ability starting at intermediate.keep an eye out for Roos.
Give yourself time if your aiming to ride the full loop otherwise you can ride along the boundary back to some of the car parks.
If you haven't been to this piece of Heaven, you should. Not just a beauty to relax and soak-in nature, but also a beauty that offers many trail-walks, Kangaroos and Wallabies (closest area to find near Melbourne, in wild) and a lake set-up for an awesome one day picnic.
Beautiful national Park close to the city. Lots of walking trails and tracks. BBQ facilities, sail or swim in the lake and plenty of kangaroos to see.
Family and couples friendly. Nice short walk, cycling, picnic and bbq apparently you can do swimming and sailing here.
