Lucky Little Dumplings Caulfield

The chef at this restaurant needs fundamental retraining. OMG. He/she appears to have no idea what some of these dishes ought to taste like. Soggy beef + chilli oil doesn't make it a 夫妻肺片。Braised pork + sugar doesn't convert it to 糖醋排骨。For Caucasians who can't read Chinese and don't know what the above comparisons are: imagine ordering a beef burger but receive a beef sandwich instead - kinda the same but not really, is it? Or imagine ordering rice but receive couscous. Or ordering a donut but they bring you a bagel sprinkled with sugar. That's not how you make these dishes! This is a Chinese restaurant situated in a Chinese dense area, serving what is supposed to be very traditional Chinese food. If that's how they cook them, I can't see how they will get any return business. Needs a new chef.what a shame - the restaurant itself is well appointed and looked clean.

Worst chinese restaurant I have ever had. Ordered quite a few dishes but none of them was cooked properly. This place is too bad I recommend everyone NOT to go.

They could not care less for their customers. They've served me undercooked Rice before and now undercooked chicken lettuce cups. Either undercooked or not fresh, I completely refuse to pay for yuck food that was not cooked properly. I had to fully argue with the manager to get it taken off the bill. He was so happy to know I'd never come back, and to be honest I actually used to like this place and thought it was the best in the neighborhood. Wow, was I wrong. A restaurant where the pictures in the menu don't even match what comes to your table. Wow. Complete lack of respect for their customers. Don't go here

Been to this new joint twice now. Pretty decent food at a good price. Has all your staple Chinese options.

Both times, we encountered issues with the ordering. 1st time wasn't too bad. We dined in and the waitress came to us with the receipt to confirm the order before the chefs started cooking. Luckily we picked up on an error and it was rectified.

2nd time we did take away and despite pointing at the menu and stating xiao long bao, we received shui mai instead. Unfortunately, we didn't not realise this until we came back to the office.

Nevertheless, this would not stop me from coming back.

Honestly a very underrated spot. Since it's opened have come regularly in particular for the dumplings. Very clean and nice environment. Definitely recommend

Food was top notch. Very fresh and tasty. Service was fast and efficient. Will definately be back.

Delicious food! The dumplings and long bao we ordered were delicious and piping hot. There was perfectly cooked egg with a runny yolk on the kimchi fried rice. It was opening day and very busy but the staff were all friendly and the food came out quickly.

I've changed my review as the restaurant can be very inconsistent. It's disappointing to order shao long bao and have more than half of the dumplings either ripped or devoid of any soup and burnt fried rice but it's happened to us.

Disappointing experience. Menu nicely printed with lots of glossy photos, but dishes do not match the pictures. Tiny bowl of soup received when menu showed a generous serving. Raised it with the server who raised it with the manager. We were told the pictures are for reference only and this is printed on the menu, so too bad.

Avoid this place. Anyone that quotes the small print and tricks guests with misleading photos isn’t to be trusted with food.

Happy Little Dumpling, if you’re reading, you need to study up on misleading and deceptive conduct.

Ordered sour & spicy soup and dumplings. The soup came out in a small rice bowl about half the size of the menu's photos. When we mentioned this, the manager pointed out fine print in the menu saying that you couldn't rely on the photos! The dumplings were average for anyone who knows what authentic dumplings should taste like. The fillings were essentially without flavour, just very salty. We were looking forward to a new dumpling restaurant in the area, but would rather go somewhere with plain menus and better food

Some of the foods in the menu are not what they look like in the picture. Don't always trust what the picture looks like, especially deserts. The food is quite good and service is desirable. Overall good but needs some work. (Taking in the fact that is is a new restaurant.)

The location is ideal, next to Coles and right in the middle of the Caulfield village. Food is ok-ish but with the price point, I expected a bit more.

The spicy lamb in cumin was amazing and not too hot

Worst wonton noodle I ever had. The soup taste like its just sesame oil, noodle is tasteless, wonton is just taste like minced pork with ginger.

Dumplings spring rolls beef black pepper amazing. Lemon chicken needed more sauce. Did feel a bit rushed as meals all came at once.
