Everyone l have brought here have enjoyed the food.
The only criticism is the fried rice it’s too sticky and not traditional fried rice. It’s just steamed and veggies mixed in. We have stopped buying it for that reason

A group of 4 of us ate from this restaurant on Monday 15th Jan 2024.
We ordered $85 dollars worth of dumplings, sizzling plater, fried rice and additional items.

All of us now have upset stomachs from this food.
Very disappointed, would not return or recommend.

It’s extremely disappointing that during the 1hr of our dinner with family that the owner constantly keep coming to our table for us to hurry and leave as they wanted to closed the owner collecting all our meals as we have not finished we were aware and about to finished up but he make it very uncomfortable… would not every go back as he was rude to us and as we were paying our bill.

Amazing Restaurant in the Pentridge Complex! Yummy Dumplings for a quick snack & refuel for all the walking around looking at The Pentridge Jail Complex! Pay a visit!

This place is usually alright for a decent quick meal, however today was not satisfactory.
Despite the service being alright, the food was not much to it and at one stage we felt quite rushed, as soon as we put the final dumpling in our mouths, they came to grab the plates.

Firstly, I want to thank the wait staff on their service. It must be hard for them working for minimum wage at this cafe!
After being recommended here, we left with a very deep regret of even contemplating eating here. The food was atrocious! Salt and pepper calamari was like rubber and membrane was still left on and had no flavour apart
From the fried shallots it was served with. The chicken satay sticks were bland and the chicken was dryer than an old barn door! Spring rolls were drowning in oil and warm, not hot, the “Special Fried rice” was special alright, straight out of the IGA freezer and again, no flavour! Our last dish was the sweet and sour pork ribs which again were dry and soaked in vinegar with a burnt aftertaste!
Seriously, we would have been better off in Gladstone Park food court and saved ourselves the money and the time!

Very yummy food, and mostly friendly staff. The service was fairly quick, but you could tell staff members were exhausted. An employee was lying down sleeping in one of the booths in front of all the customers.

An extremely disappointing experience. I usually come here once a week for lunch and enjoy it. I usually get the salt and pepper chicken with fried chilli and love it, however tonight the chicken was well over cooked, so much that just trying to cut it in half the piece flew off my plate I also had pieces that were just batter. I tried to eat as much as I could because the last time I sent a dish back I felt as though I had been punished with the spice level. (yes it comes with fried chilli but this was different even the chicken had an extreme spice) so because of the last time, I tried to power through although I was not entirely happy. The manager (guy with the pony tail) always asks how everything is at the end when I pay and I usually say that it was all very delicious. As I was not happy with my experience this time I thought I would share my thoughts with him about how the chicken was so over cooked. He then rushes over to my table and grabs my plate, he says that if I wasn't happy with it I should have said something earlier in a dismissive tone. This I understand but like I said earlier I didn't want to send anything back and I wasn't asking/expecting anything from letting him know how unhappy I was with my meal. I just wanted to let him know it wasn't up to the same standard they usually do. It is not because of what he said that I am unhappy, it is because he couldn't even hear my complaint. Being in customer service you should know that all people want is to know that they have been heard. He could not even do that, he dismissed what I had to say and couldn't take my payment quick enough to get me out of the restaurant. From going there once a week for about 2 years I will not be going back there purely because of the way he dealt with me. Very disappointing that I now feel like I do not want to give them my money!

I took my 5 and 2 year olds for lunch at lucky dumplings coburg in pentridge on my own. I was told when I arrived that all the tables were booked although it was less than half full. I offered to sit outside but was advised by the manager it wasn’t open and I could put my name on the wait list but it would be at least half an hour. A couple arrived without a booking and were shown straight to a table. When queried the manager explained that he felt my children would disrupt other diners as they were running around outside while we waited for a table. My kids aren’t angels, they are kids. They were hungry and they will sit and eat appropriately when given an opportunity. I explained to the manager that it seemed discriminatory to exclude children and a mother dining alone with children. Eventually he seated us outside after telling us he could decide whether disruptive patrons were allowed in. This was a solution to the fact I’d promised my son a particularly meal if he helped me out that morning, in retrospect I wish I’d just left. I won’t be going back again. Pings on high street welcome everyone.

I honestly don't get why these guys have such low star rating!

I was a bit wary to try, but the staff are friendly, food gets served very fast, place is nice, clean and quiet, food was good!
Prawn toast pineapple salad is really nice.
If anything if we can have eggplant dish a lot more crispy like sweet and sour pork I would've been over the moon.

I'm really glad we tried this place out. Definitely will be coming back again!

Brilliant restaurant with amazing food selection and impeccable service. The boiled pork dumpling are by far the best in Victoria. Thanks so much for a great experience.

Agreed with the other comments, they need customer service training. And if you order take away quantity will be halved and literally looks like someone’s leftover. Too pricing for what you get and Sichuan styled dishes not authentic. Shrug ‍️

Dinner was yummy but service not great, had to wait for a table while there were many free tables and staff avoided eye contact when we were waiting rather than telling us to wait a minute while they found us a table. But food very yummy so will probably be back

Went here the other night with my friend and the service was appalling. The manager with the ponytail loudly snapped at us that there was no room when we politely asked if there was a table available. We instead ordered takeaway and waited for it to be ready. In the meantime, another pair came up (who also had no booking) and asked if there was a free table. The manager looked straight at my friend and I and then turned to this couple and told them he could make room for them as long as they were quick. Whereas my friend and I are flat out denied a table and not now offered this apparent magic option… The food was good but not enough to make up for this kind of dreadful service.

One star is too generous. The experience was shocking by the owner (guy in ponytail)

The man had no customer service skills whatsoever, was so rude and arrogant.

We went in and sat at our table for lunch and a person that was meeting us there began to walk to our table. As one of the staff members was asking our friend to check in the guy in ponytail started running to our friend and opened his arms to block him to move away from our table and accused him of 'avoiding to check in' and he was completely ambushing him along with the other employee that already asked him to check in.

As our friend checked in and came to sit with us, the guy in ponytail started accusing us all of using fake vaccine passports, purely because our friend was walking towards our table (even though everyone at the table already checked in and seated). As we questioned the guy in pony tail to why he was blocking our friend and why it took 2 people to ask 1 person check in he began yelling and got defensive (instead of politely apologising for the misunderstanding), we got up and left as we wouldn't order from a place where they don't respect or make the clients feel welcome. As we we walked out he began to swear at us (infront of other customers) he had no shame in his actions.

DISGUSTING SERVICE

Recommended by a friend who went there several months ago, very disappointed the staff were friendly but didn't have a clue, very disorganised. We were a party of 8 all our meals were either wrong or dry and tasteless. The manager not interested when we complained. Never again.

Unbelievably rude front of house man (man with a pony tail), wouldn’t accept our American vaccination certificates/cards/paperwork with passports, wasn’t interested in what the Australian government website said about international vaccination cards and told me it was his rules and he doesn’t care.
Really disgusted with the way he spoke to me.

I have patronised this restaurant on a number of occasions and I recommend it. A little pricey for what you get but the ambience is great and the service is good. Today I wanted to try their ' Signature Crispy Pork Ribs'. My opinion is to give this dish a miss; it was very dry and salty and not worth $21.80. I suggest management review this 'Signature dish'
