Lucky Corner reviews
40Since the new management have taken over and the original owner has retired, the quality and the portion sizes have diminished. The fillets of fish are very small, very thin and over cooked and there is no attention to detail. The only good thing to be said is the calamari portions. The chip portions are to small and absence of love in the food generally. Was a regular for many years but now will not ever be returning, as I spent $100 for a family meal and was barely enough to feed 5 people. I hope this message reaches the new owners and they will need to be aware, in order not to destroy what was once an eating institution in Donvale. We are very, very sad that the old owners have left.
Our family travelled here an hour each way every month for over 15 years, to eat the best souvlakia in Melbourne, but sadly the new owners have ruined it.
Minimum chips is now no more than a maccas sized portion of fries, and don't get me started on the lamb, it tasted bland and was cut using a meat shaver, out of what appeared to be a steam oven. Gone is the succulent and caramalised, charcoal cooked lamb that was to die for.
We will not be returning.
Absolutely delicious food. We order online and the order is always ready on time which I pick up after work on the way home. The ship is very clean too.
Great food, the HSP is proper meat (Greek style) Nice staff and easy parking around the side. Not cheap but ok for the top quality.
Stopped to grab a quick bite. Don't live in this area but I must say had one of the best souvlaki for a while. Be definetly making a pit stop for a souv when I'm in area.
At best, Lucky Corner's fish and chips are average, but tonight two of our three pieces of blue grenadier had a strong ammonia smell - definitely dangerous to eat. Upon return of the fish to the shop the cost was refunded, but no apology or goodwill gesture (such as a can of coke) was offered for our wasted time and ruined appetites. Instead, just a quick taking of the box by the older woman and then throwing it in the bin! As other reviews point out, the service here is very ordinary and after our experience tonight we will not be returning. Suggestions to the business: a pleasant demeanour and simple smile goes a long way, customers are there to be served, not treated ambivalently, and; you have a real problem with food storage as two of tonight's fish were not fit for consumption.
My review is based on the chicken in April 2022. I haven't been for a few years. This chicken was MMMmmM! Not dry, some kind of super tasty oil, and the stuffing was soooo good; I haven't had stuffing that nice since I was in the country at a family catch up in the 90's. I noticed an older fellow behind the counter in the distance; the type of bloke who looks like he knows what he's doing and has been in business for forever. Correct me if I am wrong. So happy. I can't get good chicken anywhere near home. I am going to be a regular again. Gosh knows why I left it so long. Enough ramble from me.
Shout out to the wonderful staff who helped me out over the last 24 hours. My car broke down near by the shop and they were so kind and helpful! Amazingly clean shop! I got their pasta salad and it was so fresh and filled with flavour! Exactly what I needed after a rough day with my car! Will definitely be going back! Thank you again to the amazing staff!
My local Fish n chips shop. Tasty, clean and the most modern fish and chip shop in Melb for years. Run by a lovely family.
Really tasty food.
Broad selection of fish to choose from.
The fish is always succulent and the souvlaki is great.
Not "world's best", but it's always my F&C shop of choice.
Sunday lunch called for a new burger joint to try, and I found a winner, great flavour, lovely pattie, fresh salad, and huge. Will be going back, their menu is extensive, the store very clean and modern, a great choice.
The BEST fish & chip shop in Victoria, or even Australia. They've been in business for probably 40+ years! If I'm in Mitcham, or even within a 20 minutes drive of there and it's near lunch or dinner time, I know what I'm getting!
Thank-you Lucky Corner, thanks heaps!
Tasty food, always friendly and helpful staff.
Had an issue with a missing item through Uber Eats tonight but the store went out of their way to fix it up for me. Much appreciated!
Ordered a lamb souvlaki with the lot, got lamb, lettuce and garlic sauce only.no tomato, no onion.and that for $13.absolute joke.
BEST Fish n chips, and souvlaki in the area. Fast friendly service every time. This place has become our Friday night go to take away place. Thanks Lucky Corner for the consistent great food and service!
Delicious fresh chicken/fish and chips, salads available and suvi's on the menu. Bit pricey. Staff are friendly
Food is always nice (never oily), salads are really good and they have a decent variety for a fish and chip shop. They just need to start online orders phone orders are too open to error and if they are on the phone you have to keep trying.
I called asking a question aboukt the store politely and the worker just hung up on me. I wasn't even told why and her tone was really rude.i was going to work here but now part of this environment.
Ordered a burger for over $20 and a HSP for $30. Bad quality with dry meat and missing ingredients. When I politely called to resolve, the lady (manager) was very aggressive, screaming and yelling. Told to go away. Don't recommend.
Excellent quality Fish and Chips and a clearly superior choice over the other local places, as much better fry oil is used. The Calamari Rings and Scallops are seriously good and worth the extra $
