L’uccellino

I visited this restaurant for dinner & ordered a pizza reassuring my partner that it would be good as I had been before in the past when owned & run by Italians. That has all changed. The pizza was not great at $32 each better to have got my good local pick for $18 double the size! 6 people in that small kitchen cooking average meals at those prices this business can’t keep going like that. Struggling to see how others have rated 5 stars. Someone bring in Gordon Ramsey!

Definitely not impressed by the takeaway pizzas. Had family over for dinner and we ordered from here as they had options for vegan cheese. The pizzas were tiny and $30 a pop. I ordered one pizza with vegan cheese and there was a big clump of normal cheese on it. We ordered 4 pizzas for 6 of us, you'd think it would be enough but we ended up ordering more pizza from another place. The other place charged the same price but much bigger and heartier pizzas. Was very disappointed and definitely won't be ordering from here again.

Got food pretty quickly and at the same time (there were 3 of us). Very happy with my grilled calamari salad. Service was great too. I remember pizza was not the strongest dish last time, but people were getting pizza boxes for takeaway several time while we were dining, so must be alright!

Avoid this restaurant! Go to either of the other two Italian restaurants nearby. I am very surprised that there are good reviews for this restaurant. My friend and I went there tonight and were very disappointed and felt we wasted out money!

Firstly the tables are very close together. I’d be happy to overlook this if the service and food was any good, but it wasn’t. The waiters clearly haven’t been properly trained. After much deliberation on what menu item to choose I picked the slow-cooked pork special only to be told there was no pork tonight. We should have been told this when we were given the menus. Our waiter didn’t know what seafood came in the marinara.

I ordered the gnocchi beef ragu and could have made a better one myself. I ate the gnocchi to try to fill up, but left the ragu. My pineapple martini cocktail was awful - like bitter medicine. I left this too. My friend had the spaghetti marinara and was disappointed with the seafood.

We won’t be returning that’s for sure. It is definitely not authentic Italian food.

Good food. The outdoor seating takes you instantly to Italy in the evening, dining under the stars. They have lots of vegan options too.

Pasta OK, nothing special.
Toilets need serious renovation.

We were given 15 minutes to finish off drinks and food because they wanted to free up the table for more people.

Disappointing and definitely not authentic Italian, for instance you never leave an Italian restaurant hungry. The pizza dough is not proven as authentic dough is. Napoli sauce ordinary. Staff tried to be friendly, yet it's
apparent this restaurant has been sold or standards have not been upheld? Pricing reflects authentic, yet very far from reality.

Upon entering only one table occuyso we asked can we sit near the window the girl proxy to tell us we couldn’t sit near the window because the restaurant had to look nice from the outside and we had to sit at the back of the restaurant we ordered our entrees which was a pizza and that wasn’t too bad but then we ordered our minds and all our past that you can tell had been microwaved the lasagne was disgusting was not authentic Italian food and definitely not cooked by Italians the gnocchi was soggy the spaghetti with oil and seafood you can tell was not fresh not happy with food at all

I'm usually not one to write reviews. Menulog lost my order, and they sent a voucher in response. After re-ordering, I phoned L’uccellino to ask if they could give the new driver a nudge. I spoke with Ash who was lovely, and very kind. The replacement meal was delivered very quickly, with some delightfully unexpected additions and a hand-written note from Ash. The meal was exceptional, and I take my hat off to the chief and kitchen staff. This restaurant is consistently awesome. Ash went above and beyond, and I could not recommend this restaurant more highly. Thank you.

Overall disappointing experience. Italian restaurant with not a single Italian in the kitchen or front of house. Pizza was bland and had far too much tomato sauce. Lasagna was mince and pasta with no creamy sauce between the layers. Can't recommend this one.

Staff were friendly and attentive. Food not so great.
Vegetarian parmigiana. The menu stated roasted eggplant etc. Was very underwhelming, using marinated zucchini and eggplant that you put on pizza as the base isn't the best to do this. The sauce was okay though.
Veal scolapini, I was so excited to have this as its been a while.
The sauce was so creamy and salty. It tasted heavily of chicken stock and cream.not a hint of masala.
The potatoes tasted like they had been baked a few days ago and reheated in the microwave.
The veal itself was tender, but lost its flavour as the sauce was so salty.
We paid pretty decent money and the quality really didn't show.
This isn't something I'd want to bring up directly to the chefs with people in the restaurant, but here is my honest review.

Really great venue in Yarraville, Melbourne.
Tucked away on the side of several very beautiful retail strips, L'uccellinos has got to be one of the better Italian restaurants I've been to.
The food tasted authentic, the venue was a bit tight fitting but really gives off a comfortable petite vibe. Even with the limited space, the staff were still able to accommodate myself and 5 others.
I'd highly recommend visiting this beautiful establishment and personally I can't wait for my next dinner trip here.

Came here for the first time early last night for dinner and the staff seated us outside. Waited 20 minutes and no one came out to serve us once we were ready. Tried getting the staffs attention several times but it was like they were blind to our smiling and waving. There were 2 wait staff members working on a very quiet night so I have no idea what they were doing. We waited another 5 minutes and the male staff finally came out and we called for him to take our order only to be responded with ‘I’ll come back to you’ and went back inside. We waited another 5 min and decided to leave. Meanwhile the other female staff member is inside just walking around not doing much. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t even notice that we just left. A real shame as we are locals but won’t bother trying this place again. Plenty of other fantastic restaurants to go to in Yarraville with great, attentive service.

I had the carbonara and it was to die for! The service was really fast and the waitress we had was so lovely and really friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Amazing food and OUTSTANDING service. Will absolutely be back soon. We got the lasanga and the gnocchi and both were amazing

Manager catered to our needs. Excellent service and people skills. Highly recommend the pizza - it's delicious.

We walked in for dinner after finished cinema. All restaurant was packed On weekend in summer.
Luckily we got a table and the meal was served soon after we ordered.
We had pasta marinara. It was delicious. Good amount of pasta with nice garlic flavoured tomato sauce with big prawns. We really enjoyed it. Plus floor staff was helpful, they really moved fast for our needs.

Fantastic atmosphere with absolutely second to none quality Italian cuisine. Definitely going back for more.
