Visited take away after a glance at google star rating. In short, probably the worst Chinese I've ever had which has included many meals while travelling in China. Tried the dim sims, steamed dumplings and fried rices. None impressed me, most I struggled to eat. Suggest reviews reflect a niche audience, which is fine.suggest those who are passing through to try something else though.

Simply the best dim sims and spring rolls in Victoria. Forget that south Melbourne junk it doesn't compare. It's worth the trip to Ballarat just to stock up. Best if stocking up to ring and pre order. Update May 2022: Not open lunch time anymore and have also heard it has changed hands.

Let me start by saying that there is nothing wrong with the food here. However, to imagine that it is even mildly exotic is to admit to a subsistence on 1950's Anglo-Australian cuisine, consisting essentially of overboiled greens, mash and corned beef, and yet it may well be as close to authentic chinese food as an 1850's miner could get, so perhaps fitting fare for Ballarat. Those who live in the 21st Century, are nevertheless likely to be so underwhelmed as to be puzzled at Louey Soongs ability to exist as a viable business

Great Dim Sims and spring rolls. Reasonable fried rice. To people who review this badly because of lack of choice try to realise this is a specialty take away and they do it well. Now that some other take away's have stopped making their own dim sims (blaming covid) this place becomes even more valuable.
