My daughter started prep when covid hit at her local primary school and fell behind a lot and was really struggling. We made a last minute discision to pull her out and move to Lereto in year three. The school have been nothing but supportive, her home room teacher Mrs Foley has been so responsive to my daughters needs and now has her up to the level she should be and above. All the children were very welcoming also, she's made some lovely friends.

I am posting as a student of Loreto that started in year 7. When I saw the website of this school along with the tour, I was amazed to see how the facilities worked and the high VCE results. I thought that Loreto Toorak was a school worth going to even if it meant that I wouldn't go to a school that all my friends were attending.

It was then that I immediately realised, it was all a hoax. The school did not care ONE SINGLE bit about the students. All they cared about was the presentations of the students when shown to public; they would call students' parents when forgetting to bring a ribbon, or when a skirt is too short even though it was sitting on the kneecaps. The principal along with the other 'head of years' enforced this "role" onto us that we were to follow as they said and done.

I later learnt that the school tours were scripted, and that the students guiding parents and children were told what to say, which I assumed happened to me. The students in my year level were inconsiderate and disrespectful, always trying to get themselves ahead of the others. The education was phrased differently than what was said on the website. More than half of my class got C's and B's for their averages, and the ones that got A's had to learn by themselves (talking from experience and asked others) to thoroughly understand the content.

Loreto Toorak also gave me some bad experiences. When sorted into breakout groups, I was sorted into a group where everyone had an Asian background; however I did not know anyone. The teacher at the time told us that we were 'lucky' and that we 'should avoid trying to be grouped together' because of our race. I found that very frustrating, because a similar experience occurred when I was sitting with a group of girls that came from Australia. A teacher walked up to me and asked if I was lost or looking for my 'other friends'.

They're telling us to be young ladies, they're saying that we are a part of the Loreto community. I came to learn, not hear about history or sing songs about a religious figure that I never heard of. This school has too much pride, in an assembly session, the teachers had mentioned the death of a student, and ended the sentence with "we are so lucky to be in a catholic school. " I don't know about you, but that was completely irrelevant to the topic of death.

This school is not worth the money. It is a racist, prideful school. I don't think this school should be enrolling students. This is a school that teaches students to be "young ladies" which we honestly don't even follow. Loreto Toorak is a bad school especially if you are a different race. I do not recommend attending the school.

I would never send my daughters to this school, the teacher care more about how you look then your education. Exams in year 7? That is crazy, I would stat them in year 9 and only do main subjects. All the tests don't even relate to what you "learned" and there are so many teachers who don't like their job. I would never think for a second to send my daughters to this school, the timetable is not good, you have long lessons, and the teachers don't even let you go to the bathroom. I think this school is very overpriced for the education. And most of the students who passed researched in their spare time. I also think there is a lot of drama in this school, when I first came to this school I was a witness to a lot of drama. I also think some kids get bullied here. I also think that the teacher get mad at you when you ask one simple question. Now language, I know one of the teacher said to me when I got a bad grade on a test "no surprise there" and on of my friends in the same class as me the teacher whistled really loudly straight in her ear, she then could not hear out of that ear for about a week to two weeks. The teacher is still teaching even with 10+ complaints by students. I would rather go to a public school then ever go there again!

I have been to this school myself for over 9 years and have not learnt a single thing. I had to learn everything myself and to be frank, it was not an enjoyable experience. Hate singing those awful songs during assembly. I will not be sending my future children here. Maybe do your research

Hi all, Karen here! As a mother of four children, I would never send my kids to this school. I think this school has many problems and more that I won't address in this review. First of all, an only girls school? This school does not fit the 'woke' (what the kids say these days) community and should include both genders. As well as this, the advertising of ATAR scores at the front gates of your school is something they shouldn't be boasting about. Yes of course, getting 99.75 is good and all but I have never seen a Loreto student achieve a 100 ATAR, that is not good enough!
Anyhoo, to end this review, I recommend to not associate with this school and I will end this review with a quote I heard one of my kid's friends utter: "Loreto Toorak? More like LOLreto Toorak! "

I went to this school for six years, it's not worth it. The teachers hardly ever know what they're even talking about. Every student who got good grades was learning everything for themselves. Not to mention, if there was ever an issue (whether it be involving students or anything else), the school would just ignore it. The students are treated like ID numbers and nothing else. Overall, I wouldn't send my kids there even if it didn't cost me anything.

Great school

I've put two daughters through, best money I've every spent.

They have entered as C/D students, they leave as confident straight A students. We have had a twelve year relationship with Loreto, and have seen the school just excelling year after year. The school nurtures on every level, academically, sporting, musically, artistically.
The attitudes my daughters have acquired here are that achieving academically is cool. Have never had to make them do there homework. They put in the work, network with other students, and get results.

The building, facilities and grounds are good, but the education and attitudes are what makes it great. They also have a excellent rowing program, which they are very passionate about.

A school like no other. I can only give 5 Stars but Loreto Mandeville Hall is worthy of so many more. Thank you for nurturing, continually providing positive reinforcement and giving my daughter the opportunity to shine in diverse facets of school life. From the leadership team, teachers and staff; all should be commended accordingly for enriching my daughter’s schooling experience and in the process a continual parent welcoming journey. I have no hesitation is recommending Loreto Mandeville Hall and will forever sing your praise.

This school is absolutely FANTASTIC! The tour was amazing, and the girls were very respectful to us and acknowledged us all.
