21Cosy little spot on St Georges Road. Oysters were amazing and the cocktails were spot on. Menu is small but still plenty of choice to fill you up.
Incredible queer energy at this beautiful yet unassuming bar.
Excellent array of season European adjacent food if not slightly over priced.
Broccoli with macadamia and miso, saffron risotto, ghocci fritta with talegio all rich and delicious morsels that left me and my company satisfied but not full to the state of bursting.
Impressive wine list with a great blend of local, international and experimental blends.
Service were on the whole fairly friendly if not a bit “too cool” and too inattentive with regular wine and water top ups which would have won them more points.
Food had a fairly good balance of vegetarian and meat forward dishes, although a limited selection for vegan colleagues.
I will certainly be back and look forward to capturing more of the fabulous atmosphere but would wait for a menu change before I eat there again. The food was delicious but nothing that I would want to eat “every time” I go there.
Cool little spot with a really chilled atmosphere, they can make a smashing negroni & margarita. Food is also pretty good too, highlight dishes were definitely the broccoli & risotto!
Lovely vibey spot with cocktails and decent wines (wines are mostly by bottle). Customer service was a bit average. Good spring / summery date spot
LongPlay is a cozzy environment with dim lighting, friendly staff, and excellent food. A Hygge experience with someone special.
Plump green olives and red wine were a mouth watering treat.
The Gnocchi served in a paella style dish was delectable. Perfect spot for a supper date.
The staff were amazing. However, the acoustics of the room in which we had our event was terrible. It was like having a group of 20 crammed into a turkish bath room. No one could hear others or speak to the person standing next to them. I couldn't stand it more than an hour and left the birthday event way before the cake being served to save my ear drums.
A pretty cosy place for a meal and drink. As far as the small screening room at the back goes, which could be great, they could improve the audio situation. The main issue is an old and noisy air conditioner in the room and the lack of a decent sound system. It was stereo or mono, couldn't tell, and just a set of PA speakers. The image quality was very good as was the seating arrangement. The vibe in the room was warm. A lot of potential in this space.
Loved the menu had a great magareta then joined a group of wise women for story telling in the cute and intimate theatre
Came here on friday night, staff were so lovely and welcoming! Really nice to have a quick chat to as well.the venue is super cute and laid back, lighting is perfect, so cosy.great music- they were playing kelela when we arrived, love.drinks and food were bang on for a date night too, oysters and cocktails are a match made in heaven.i think the angels behind the bar might’ve forgotten we ordered lol but they gave us complimentary olives to make up for it.new fav spot, thank you honeys! X
I too was at Longplay on Saturday the 31st. I too had the kingfish crudo dish. I did not get sick in any way. Its a great dish. It tasted perfectly fresh, pale pink with firm texture (like sashimi) and a sweet rich flavour. Beautifully cut through with the citrus slices. The simplicity of the recipe doesn't lead to a lot of scope for what might have caused a problem for others. Longplay is a great spot, with thoughtful food, a good drinks list, and friendly masks looking after everyone.
Really terrible, overpriced food. Kingfish crudo gave me atrocious food poisoning for two days. It was warm, slimy and marinated in olive oil.
EDIT 3/08/21: In response to your questions, it was Saturday night 31/07/21. I am certain it was Longplay food as I hadn't eaten anything since 1pm and was feeling fine. Within two hours of dining at Longplay, I started to feel very sick, which continued for the next couple of days. I didn't eat or drink anything after dining at Longplay.
Loved this cocktail bar, awesome chill ambiance inside, where you can actually hear each other talk.
The legend that served us was so great. Really knew how to host. The menu was simple & and not over expansive. We ordered pisco sours and another sour and both were crisp & yum.
Will definitely be back here again.
Great ambiance, good cocktails, and interesting unique menu. The food took awhile, but we were told it was due to a large group booking. Would give 5 stars next time if the food doesn't take so long next time. We will definitely be back.
My partner had the rabbit lasagna, he said it was excellent!
Great wine bar in the North Fitzroy suburbs in Melbourne, great wine list and friendly service. Tasty food
My local, absolutely gorgeous interior with cute booths, feels like you're in new york in the 1920's. A fab range of drinks, i'd recommend the beautiful lil cheese plate!
One of my favourite places in Melbourne. Cosy, beautiful ambiance and decor, great drinks and food, plus you always run into utter babes! What a pleasure! Don't miss it.
Really chill, beautifully furnished and softly lit bar without any pretension and really friendly bar staff and nice range of wines and cocktails
A beautiful little multi purpose space at the back that houses possibly Melbourne's best weekly Chicago style improv comedy show 'Lost Weekend' every Wednesday night.
It also has film screenings, plays and live music and more through out the week all of which makes Long Play one of the best little bars in Melbourne.
Good staff. Jumpin on a weekend in a good way. Great tunes via vinyl. Teeny tiny kitchen but super sophistico menu. Oysters served live as they should be.
Lucky to live so close to this super nice little bar with venetian blinds, a couple of booth's, & an all round excellent fit out that's not too designery. Feels great. Excellent small menu to choose with super tasty semolina gnocchi. Great staff & music.
A really great little bar.
If you get the opportunity to go to Longplay I really recommend It as it is quite unique and a very stylish place to spend an evening. It has a, I wouldn’t say secret, but an interesting room at the rear that is well worth visiting if you hear of an event happening there.
