Lochiel Luxury Accommodation reviews
17Nice, but exy as you would expect in the Dandenongs. Can hear traffic in front bedroom accommodation smells musty this was a little off-putting for me.
This place is clearly recovering from some pretty significant storm damage. Don't expect it to look like the website, do expect to have tradies on site and on the balcony. The balcony and lower level were out of bounds during our stay.
The kitchen and lounge and rooms were lovely, perfect for what we needed.
Communication was patchy but we got there in the end, and had a nice stay.
Dirty, smelly, mouldy. The room I stayed in was basically a hallway with no curtains on the windows and sheets over the doona which had blood stains on it. The house smelt like mould and all the cutlery and crockery was dirty as was the house. The balcony had been blocked off as it was in disrepair and the shower was one of those low flow cheap caravan park showers. Great location, lots of potential, beautiful surrounds but the word 'luxury' in the title of this place is a joke.
The photos of this place look amazing, but the reality of it wasn't that nice. We booked the place and recieved confirmation, but between the time of booking and getting there, there was no communication of how to get to the room.
I contacted the number I had and they sounded great, and explained that the key should be in the door (I was a little confused about this), they had also mentioned that the heaters were all on. Went to the cottage and there was no key in the door and it was locked. Called them back and they give me the code for the key safe.
The bathroom looked amazing in the photos, but their were rubber mats all over the floor. We were walking around in there and the tiles underneath the mats felt loose, we lifted the mat to see cracked tiles, a hole in the floor and the steel plate that you can see in the photos. The smell from the mats was bad because they were damp, and the bathroom door was not able to be closed without the mat being lifted. There were spider webs in all of the down lights throughout the cottage, and in all the eves outside and mould on the inside of a window in the bedroom.
The lower balcony railing had ash from cigarettes that had been put out on it.
Though the website specifically said WiFi, and access to netflix and other streaming services we were unable to get the TV to connect to the WiFi. We called to get some help and were dismissed with 'I can't help because I'm not tech savvy'. There was a sound bar for the TV but no remote and we couldn't get that to work either.
Overall what concerns us the most is the lack of cleaning and attention to detail especially considering covid/flu etc. For $330 a night the standard of 'Luxury' is definitely not there.
The perfect escape! Surrounded by nature. The cottage is gorgeous and extremely cosy. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will recommend this for anyone who needs a nature recharge
Great location but found the place needed some serious TLC. Roll down blinds needed a serious clean, windows very dirty with heaps of cobwebs. Worst thing was from main bedroom to the spa / bathroom / toilet room there should be a bi fold or concertina door, there is NO privacy.
Pure bliss this little treehouse - everywhere you look it’s just nature - just beautiful and peaceful - the spa bath & fire is a bonus - loved it & The botanical Gardens being a short stroll away are worth a visit
Beautiful, very private cottage in very heart of Olinda. The OriginalCottage is very spacious, has 5 bedrooms (1 more the advertised). The views in the woods are amazing. And the vouchers for delicious breakfast at the Ranges cafe was appreciated. The host very responsive and accomodating. Great experience
I can't discribe the experiance in this place, it is more than amazing! The place is clean, nice and cuzy. There is small kitchen where you can cook and enjoy small meal. The location is magical, and there is so many things to explore. We saw a gazal from the balcony!
Windows need a good clean! You book it for the view, but all you see is cobwebs and spiders.
Spa is awesome
Horrific stay
We couldn’t find our lodge so we rung reception. The man on the phone gave us a code 9751 and we went to one of the cottages and opened it and someone was in there! So they used a generic alarm code for ALL the cottages. So security was compromised in this place!
The toilet and bathroom had no doors and was directly connected to the bedroom. And plus there was no air circulation. It was so stuffy. So it’s vile to have toilet smell being trapped in the whole house!
The jacuzzi had a shower head over it claiming as a “shower”
Also there was a hole in the wall as well.
While we were in the lodge an intruder came in, but we later realised it was the handy man who came in without knocking and had the generic alarm code to go in.
Free breakfast was provided only to realise it was just a thirty dollar voucher which doesn’t buy much for a free breakfast at the ranges cafe.
Do not recommend! Rather stay in a hostel
My partner and I spent 1 night in number 2 Treetop Cottage for our anniversary and it was perfect! Very neat, clean, quiet and an amazing view, an amazing spot. We will definitely be back again, next time we will be spending more then 1 night here. Alan was super friendly and a pleasure to deal with!
Breathtaking views, elegant accommodations, special inclusions as a surprise including breakfast at the ranges on olinda. A host that respects your privacy and is very accommodating and courteous. After being in months of lockdown this was the perfect place for my husband and i to have some time alone ro reconnect. Will be back
Stayed at the guest house, upstairs. Beautiful open living and kitchen area with fireplace, good size bedroom and nice bathroom with well designed spa. Great location with easy walking distance to main tourist spots and not too far from second set of shops and dandenong botanical gardens. Loved it
Very nice little cabin (treehouse #3), the images online are accurate to what you get. Very warm and cosy. The firewood is restocked each day. Bed, couch and pillows comfortable. Great location. Reasonable value for what you get.
Just watch out when using the spa, put a towel over the controller because water can get in there (even just touching the buttons) and cause the Jets to randomly turn on and off (we had to trip the safety switch in the cupboard to get the Jets to turn off at one point lol)
Amazing secluded location only a few minutes walk from the centre of Olinda.
Stayed in the one of the 3 guesthouses, nestled amongst the trees. Well appointed, contemporary fitout and centrally heated. Also enjoyed the fire on the cold nights. Service was quick, helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed in the guesthouse, beautiful location, peaceful and well appointed. Super close to everything but secluded at the same time. The staff were very easy to deal with and it made our anniversary extra enjoyable. Will definitely be back!
