'Locale' at De Bortoli Yarra Valley

Visited today for first time to Yarra Valley.
First vineyard lunch there.
The building and vineyard views were lovely.
Reception was very friendly and professional
the menu looked great- my favourites- Rabbit & Quail.
Price was reasonable compared to others- $85 for 2 courses + a side of veges.
Wine was nice.
Unfortly the food looked good, but was a bit overcooked-
especially the pototo gratin, which didnt look good, but rather dry.
The rabbit wasnt that tasty, but was beautifully presented.

Also the service was very slow - especially considering that there were only 2 others there. I had to ask the waitress if they had remembered my main. She was not very friendly and seemed to take offence.
Also would have been better if the Tasting Flute could have been taken to the restaurant to have with the food... (some people cant drink wine without food, for medical reasons).

Overall a bit disappointing experience, compared to many vineyard lunches I have had in NZ- all superb. So good that I seek them out, as some of the best meals I have ever had.

Went to this restaurant on 10/9 to celebrate my partner's birthday. We paid 100/person for 3 courses. Every one of her meals was delicious. I cannot say the same for mine. The tagliatelle was 2 min shy of al dente and there was no seasoning at at all in the pasta sauce. My chicken was cold, dry and tasteless. The puree under and the mushrooms were extremely cold. When i sent this back and got a medium rare steak, it came out rushed, charred and medium well done. I couldnt eat this and wouldn't serve it to my dog. My panna cotta was disgusting and inedible. My server only offered to charge me for 2 courses instead of 3 which is a disgrace. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Incredible experience. Delicious food and wine. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Some lovely dishes and great ambience. They did seem a little desperate for patronage though after 2 sms messages and 3 emails to confirm the booking.
Also watch out for their booking provider that does not honour Australian anti spam laws. Recommend phoning instead to Berk.

Wonderful restaurant on site at De Bortoli Winery. Worth the drive to the Yarra Valley.
