Laurent Bakery Toorak reviews
45Unfortunately this long time favourite has really gone down hill recently. Service is absolutely terrible. Coffee is terrible, most of time. Really sad it was a local favourite for many years.
Waited over 10mins for a takeaway latte in the morning when it was super quite. The guy making coffee kept getting distracted by other things and disnt make our coffee. As we were in a rush we had to leave and not get our coffee as it took way too long.
Good cafe Staff very helpful
Why is sliding door to car park sometimes very slow in opening?
This has got to be the best coffee and pastries. I have tasted in a very long time, even since I went to France.
Absolutely delicious pumpkin soup at Laurent Toorak. I've been coming here for two weeks and always receive service with a smile from Rina and the team.
Each time I’m in Melbourne, I would always find time to have coffee in Laurent, alone as well as with company. It has never lost its appeal after more than a decade ️️️
Amazing desserts and pastries! Also fresh bread for every day. The interior is cosy, they have soft chairs.

The coffee not hotter very warm and the prices very expensive: I paid $11.20 one coffee and one
Great cafe that is open late afternoon. A good selection of cakes and pastry’s. The only downside is that it costs over $30 for cake+coffee for two!
Pros:
Hot coffee.
Castel was a delicious light cake which reminded me of a ferror rocher.
Cons:
Really cold air con. We went on a chilly day and I was shivering with the air con as it blew directly down at us.
Berry danish was soggy and almost inedible, not really acceptable for a French bakery.
It’s on the pricier side at $28 for 2 coffees and average cakes/pastries. Can definitely get better out there especially in and around this area.
I asked Teisha the manager at Laurent to authorise some vouchers for me. She came off of her lunch break just to do it for me. Teisha has a great customer service outlook- I would recommend Laurent in Toorak!
Really surprised a one shot coffee here in a café would be so insipid and weak. And I m not fussy about coffee.
Probably the worst Laurent out there (despite being located in Toorak!). Old run down venue, the sandwiches on display looked stale, coffee wasn’t great also. Cakes were the same as other Laurents’ though.
Love the staff here, always friendly and helpful. Especially the store manager. She is bright, bubbly and chirpy and always happy to help with all my French cake and pastry needs!
Excellent coffee and service. Chicken & mayo baguette is consistently good. Will keep coming back.
Laurent used to have quality and professionalism, however for the last 18 months or so, I suspect they may have cut some corners and been utilising some inferior ingredients. In all fairness, with C19 and shipping issues, perhaps they have been forced to lose a bit of the quality, but I suspect more to save a few dollars and hope no-one notices. Staff are still professional and that deserves a few stars, prices are still way up though.
I just finished having a Veggie Full Baguette with cheese which found was very good, which was also a healthy lunch. I found it fresh.
Laurent always has consistently made desserts and savoury food, with a very wide selection. Coffee is also great. It can get busy but there is usually a place to sit down and have a quick bite to eat with your morning newspaper.
