Laurent Bakery reviews
38I am a transgender woman wearing a dress earrings hair back, and a rainbow lanyard and the staff member still calls me by the wrong gender. And no apology when I correct them. What does a woman have to do? Won’t go back!
Ordered a latte and a mushroom toastie. Very good mushroom and bechamel sauce combination. Cheesy bread is very crispy. Morning time was very quiet and looked not busy. Latte was also good.
I really appreciate the lady who is working on a day that I visit it. She let me in while they were closing the store. I just wanted a pain au chocolate, to try their Croissant. Plus as I heard they are famous for it.
It’s looked great very nice and flaky. It was good but not as buttery or soft but that could be due to being bought at 3pm so not so fresh
Also looked dry. Little bit but overall not bad. I definitely to give it a second try when I’m in Melbourne again.
Worst meat pie ever! Not only that, but I had food
poisoning from eating it. It was served tepid with unappetising salad leaves. From what I could gather the pie had not been refrigerated. I would like to be refunded $14 for said pie and coffee. Please contact me.
Good coffee and food and mainly friendly young team BUT one very rude waitress who always seems to be working there each time we go…awful to interact with. I’d rate higher but for her.
Great cafe and the same very friendly staff who have known me for years at this location. Always enjoy the food here and the great coffee many thanks.
Wonderful hidden little gem I stumbled on while exploring Collins Place. Couldn’t decide between danish blueberry and apple strudel, so ordered both! The pastry was light and fresh but I preferes their danish blueberry. I took the opportunity to refresh my French with the French waiter who is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Highly recommend very authentic French pastry.
I wanted to love this place. It’s cute and the food looks great. I thought I’d start with a coffee to try the place out. The coffee was really burnt. I had to dose it heavily with sweetener to take a second sip. I did mention it to the barista and all they said was ‘oh’.
Very average service. This cafe manages to be both incredibly slow and chaotic at the same time. The staff don’t seem to know what they’re doing and lack basic communication skills.
Would give zero stars if possible,
Your staff are incredibly rude and disrespectful, sort it out.
Wonderful to stumble upon this place while exploring Collins Place. Couldn’t decide between the coffee or chocolate eclairs, so ordered both! They are both nice, but I prefer the chocolate eclair.
Lovely ambience, and looking forward to try their other mini cakes soon!
Disappointingly slow. Waited >30mins for a takeaway coffee.
Pretty sure you need 2 baristas on the machine.
The girl who served me for the 2nd time took 10 minutes to take my order. My coffee order was then incorrect, they had to make it again.
The waitress was nice.
My croissant was served to me still cold in the centre but she was happy to fix it for me.
Great refurbishment and fresh produce. Extremely disappointing to have a staff member think it is acceptable to serve food without proper food hygiene in this day and age, and use her hands without gloves or utensils. I dare imagine what food safety practices are being employed (or should I say are not) behind customer viewing. Very off putting: - (
This is a must visit cafe for me every time I am in Melbourne. I am absolutely addicted to their French Style Apple Turnovers. But I have tried many of their other items and they are all outstanding in taste and quality. While the location is not necessarily conducive to a relaxed cafe experience, the food is worth going there even just for some takeaway. The coffee is good but so is it elsewhere in Melbourne, so you would not go there for the coffee but the pastries alone.
Just stopped for a quick lunch before the theatre. Shared a smoked salmon on rye and and egg and bacon brioche. Absolutely delicious. Very generous fillings, and obviously the best quality. Definitely will come back. Highly recommend.
This Laurent Bakery was the first part of a two-part saga, wherein I was looking to locate a cake.on really short notice. This location was super helpful in helping me figure out what size I needed and recommended a few delicious looking cakes. My time constraints meant I needed to walk out of bakery with the cake and this location didn't have it. However, they called around and found which outlet did. While I didn't buy anything here, I appreciate how they helped!
Rude staff!
I tried to clear my table after I finished my "dine in" sandwich which was served in a paper bag. Head over to the counter and asked the guy to clear it for me. All I got was a head turn of him looking at the trash bin inside the counter saying "over there"!
No eye contact, no thank you, no nothing!
And it was a busy time at all! These people shouldn't be in the service industry.
Great spot to grab a takeaway coffee before business meetings. High standard and always friendly staff!
