Lambs on Lygon St reviews
23This place has fallen off badly. $20 for a terrible kebab. A real shame as it used to be amazing. Recommend going elsewhere.
$20 for a souvlaki and nothing else.
What has this place become?
My parents always talked about this place form their date nights as kids, I remember coming here for an amazing slice of Greek street food.although it seems it has lots touch with its customer base… or maybe that was always drunk tourists unaware of what basic value is.
For this price I would goto Jim’s Greek tavern and have the whole Greek food experience with plentiful value and authentic service.
The guy here laughed at me when I asked if this price was right!
Such a Shame considering the place was completely empty.
Music is insaaaane! Been coming for years, can’t get tastier lamb anywhere in Melbourne (other than at Lambs!). Great selection of wine too. See you soon! Thanks
The only thing sadder than the lamb that got slaughtered was the bloke serving it.
Food was a bit burnt and salty, but not too bad otherwise. Bit pricy for what it is.
I came back for nostalgic reasons. Frequented this place alot 30yrs ago. Gone down hill alot. The old guy and his wife appear to run it without help. If restaurant is busy, takeaway is very slow.
Absolutely overrated, so expensive, small souvalaki, asked for extra chicken guy was wanting to $6.00 for 4 small pieces of chicken, gold plated chicken.
Do not eat here!
Bad attititude from owner
We felt we were imposing!
Not fresh, serving was smallish hardly wrapped, bread was disgusting- oily flavour meat was old.indigestion all night!
$20 per 1x souvlaki are you guys serious. Disgusting!
I used to come here many years ago and it was nice but this time I went it was terrible.
1 - the meat was low quality and mainly the fat and just tasted like eating fat only!
2 - there was only a little meat and only had salad inside it very small portion for 20$
3 - even tho we said hello how are you the staff was very unpleasant and didn’t event answer back only looked at our face like we did something wrong.
Very bad service and tasted terrible we felt sick! Doesn’t even deserve 1 star.
Have been a customer for 30 years, never again, bread overcooked and cracking, $25 for a double meat souv that was smaller than a regular souv a few years ago, rude service, he's dropped the ball big time
What a horrid place I accidentally walked into.
After the owner acknowledged my existence, I said I’d like a souvlaki and weather did chips. He started cooking while rambling about how you don’t need chips with a souvlaki and finally said he doesn’t serve them. Within 20 seconds he gives me the food and I swear to god I didn’t get a souvlaki I got a maths puzzle. He didn’t wrap it, just just chucked a bunch of meat, sauce and veggies on a pita, crumpled it together like he was scrunching a piece of paper and somehow I am supposed to eat this without it completely falling apart.
Finally got to my car and thought, yes this will be hard to eat but worth it if it’s tasty.
The meat was just fat! Like lard had been spread on my lamb before he put it in the pita. And of course it all ripped apart and fell out the moment I unwrapped the paper. I then spent the next 20 minutes picking apart edible pieces of meat, cutting little handfuls of bread and veggies and hoping my car doesn’t get covered in sauce and lettuce.
What a waste of $20, barely got through half of it before the taste of fat ruined the food and the experience of trying to solve how to eat it ruined my appetite
Hadn't been here in years and ended up getting a feed after our night out on Friday, still so damn good! Delish food & good coffee.
Dont believe these 1 star reviews saying the food is bad and the service is bad. One of the best authentic souvlakis ive had in Melbourne and the service was great.
Old guy behind the counter was rude and abrupt. We were visiting from Sydney with Melbourne locals. Service was bad and his attitude was just as bad. Clearly he is over serving people.
Chips were terrible and expensive. Lamb was nice but the Souvlaki was rubbish because the bread was overcooked, crisp and cracked and everything just fell apart. I couldn't pick it up to bite it so i just had to pick at it with my fingers. Don't think I'll be back
Still Lygon Street's best Souvlaki, great service and a friendly atmosphere. Delicious meats and fresh ingredients.
Owners a pig, dry and expensive kebabs.probably won't come here again.dont mind paying if it was good but $100 for 3 people and portions are small, dry meat in souvlaki and service was ridiculous.toilets were revolting - never coming here again.
Finally took my daughter here after 27 years. While it lacks the polish of current restaurants, did not fail from quality of a great souvlaki.
Probably the worst souvlaki I’ve EVER had in my life! Soggy, meat was extremely chewy! YUK
Old guy, the owner is getting extremely rude. He was making some souvlakis behind the counter. I was waiting for mine. I mentioned how the adjacent room was quite busy on this particular night. He snapped 'oh you like to chat do you, well I like to chat too! ' He then disregarded me. His behavior was appalling. I ordered a double meat souvlaki. It came out as a single meat souvlaki at best. I called him over to show him he hadn't given me a double meat that id paid $25 for. He took a glance at me and walked off. He couldn't be stuffed addressing my complaint or that he had overcharged me. Meat was poor and fatty on this particular night. Normally the souvlakis are good. To cap it all off he greasy stared me on the way out. The owner needs to take a good look at himself. Loyal customers will start leaving. I've been going there for 23 years.
Got a lamb souvlaki, staff didn't seem to interested in customers. The souvlaki was ok at best. I know everything has gone up in price but $20 seems a little pricey.
