Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum reviews
56Never knew about this place untill we visited Lake boga. Museum has great staff and awesome exhibits. It's a must if your into Australian wartime history.
Great place to visit, and the history to be learnt is very interesting and explained in Great detail by staff in attendance.
This is a great museum to visit. Just might find out something you didn't know about Lake Boga. Definitely worth the look.
This is an amazing place. I was so glad there is a cafe there because there is so much to do. You are greeted by happy staff ready to give you a introduction to the museum and the history of the flying planes. Then they leave you to absorb the amazing things on show, but if you would like to use their computer and look up family militarily history they are there to help to go to the right places to get the best info. I'm hoping to go back soon to take in some more. I got caught on the computer looking up our farthers who served in WWII, so missed out on spending more time in the gallery.
As a history buff I loved the bunker.
If you like history, planes, or just some decent coffee with some nibbles, it's a great place to drop into for half an hour or 3 hours as we did.
Lake Boga is a lovely place to park yourself with a kids playground, free BBQ, lovely grass, sand and water for all to enjoy.
Happy Exploration of the area.
Very interesting but make sure the cafe is open because it was closed in April 2022 because of covid when I went there. Was going to buy my lunch there to fill in time because the bus going back to Swan Hill wasn't coming thru until mid afternoon.
History of the Catalans flying aircraft, there is a large model inside the building along with other artifacts relating to world war 2, also check out the underground bunker that was used in the war, recommend this museum highly.
A very interesting museum, and the staff member was absolutely incredible and explained everything so well. We had our pictures taken in the jeep and watched a short 20 minute documentary too. They were very accomodating and allowed our dog into the museum too which was great. Lots to read on the information boards too, and plenty of artefacts around the museum. A great cafe next door too, and highly recommended to visit!
Interesting experience learning about the Catalan flying boat, there is an original model on show along with other artifacts, there is also a film about the Catalan and Lake Boga during world war 2, check out the bunker that was used during the war, highly recommend this museum.
Great display of WWII memorabilia of the workings in Lake Boga for maintenance and repair of the RAAF & US flying boat aircraft. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Lovely little military museum about the flying boats and under ground bunker. Thanks to the local lions club.
So much history in this place there are people here who have put so much time money and obviously alllot of themselves in to making sure this is a well appointed and important part of not only Australian but worldwide history,
The flying boats where an extremely important part of life in Australia and other parts of world
Only 5 remaining in flying conditions worldwide now.
A fantastic collection and display of memorabilia from a little known aspect of WWII. The collection is extra special as it is dominated by an actual Catalina Flying Boat.
Great introductory video of about 20 minutes not to be missed.
Great to learn more history of the area. You can spend hours looking over the exhibits, pictures, and documents that are well presented and preserved. The flying boat is impressive.
Very interesting war history exhibit featuring the amazing Catalina’s and the part they and Lake Boga played in the war effort as an inland base.
This is for the cafe. Staff if you’re required to wear a mask, then wear a mask, both the order taker and the coffee maker keeping their chins warm only, dishwasher unmasked, only correct usage was the waitress delivering (couldn’t see the cook but given precedents it’s not promising).
Really interesting museum with a good 20 minute video on the history during the war which was quite surprising. Definitely recommend if you’re in Swan Hill.
Wow what a great surprise. I learnt some Australian history which should be taught in our schools. It's very well ran and the lady that was working today was great
Really helpful, informative staff made our visit here terrific.
We kept saying to each other - "I had no idea! " Fascinating - and so many congratulations to the many volunteers over many decades for this very high quality installation.
We're so glad we didn't miss it.
What a special piece of history, never really understood the full details Lake Boga played during WW11, so if you have a spare couple of hours definitely a place to visit.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to try the dare at the cafe, hopefully next time we will have more time.
Very interesting and could have spent longer here as I like to read all the plaques. My down fall was I had two children with me that were not as interested. Spent a good 2 hours here but if I was on my own could have been the entire afternoon.
