Kwan Studio reviews
16I’m glad I found Zara’s class. It made me happy returning to ballet after long time since I danced ballet as a kid.
Zara is the most wonderful teacher. She is so knowledgeable and the corrections she gives are well explained and demonstrated. The quality of teaching and classes are incredible value for money and really push you to improve technically in a supportive, totally non-judgmental, and more importantly, fun environment. The balance between fun and technicality is a hard one to strike, especially in adult classes- but Zara has got it absolutely spot on. The students are a gorgeous lot too, always celebrating each other’s success and helping each other out if someone is struggling on a particular exercise. I can genuinely feel myself improving week on week- and my confidence is growing with each class. Try her- I promise you’ll love it:)
I found Zara on Instagram during Lockdown 5.0 in Melbourne and have been going to her classes for almost 10 months now. Zara is an affable and understanding ballet teacher who brought my love for ballet back to reality after walking away from it for almost 18 years. There is a lovely supportive environment in her classes where she makes you feel like you're definitely dancing, even though we're only beginners, but also challenged to excel and respect the art of ballet. I started with one Zoom class, but just kept going back, nerves and all, and I never regret it!
I started at Kwan Studio for ballet with my sister! At the beginning it was just for an extra activity but I can definitely now see myself enjoying it and getting better at it every lesson. I’ve always wanted to try dancing and didn’t see myself as the most graceful type. However I can say Zara caters for all and is super approachable and kind. Corrections are never scary and supportive. Thankyou for such a fun class Zara.
Zara is an incredibly patient teacher, she indulged both my younger sister and I. Definitely give Zara a try you won't regret it.
Zara's classes are what I have been looking for the last ten years, and I found them exactly when I needed them most!
Coming back to ballet after many years away due to injuries, I was incredibly nervous to go to class but Zara was really welcoming, as were the other students and I immediately reconnected with my love of dance and felt right at home in the space she has created.
I highly recommend all of Zara's classes, this studio is built around community, support and most importantly correct technique! Zara encourages artistry and corrects her students technique more than some of the teachers I had when studying at a professional level, if you commit to coming to class regularly you will feel and see yourself improving pretty quickly, and make some new friends at the same time:)
I want to highlight too the environment is body positive, gender inclusive and honestly just an all round delightful vibe!
Kwan Studios has helped me reconnect with my love for ballet again and has really helped me improve in my technique! 10/10 recommend
I don’t think I would ever dance ballet again if I didn’t come across Zara’s class. Tried her class over the lockdown via zoom, and I was warmly welcomed and felt like there was no expectations on the table during her class. She made ballet feel like there was no pressure at all and I was so calm and at ease the whole time.
The Monday and Wednesday classes I attend are the highlights of my week and I really feel like everyone of all ages and experiences can learn so much from her. For someone who did ballet at a young age and only recently started getting back into it the last few months, I really feel like I’m at home when I’m under her wing. Thank you Zara.
I started learning ballet with Zara over Zoom during a lockdown, and was so pleased when I could finally attend a studio class in person. I love the way Zara teaches beginner adults - not so tough as to be off-putting, not condescendingly so we feel like babies. The classes are supportive, and Zara works really hard to adapt each class to the individual needs and skills of each student. If you've ever wanted to start ballet, I can't recommend Kwan Studio enough.
I have been attending ballet classes with Zara at Kwan Studio for a few months now and look forward to every class! Having not done ballet since I was a teenager over 10 years ago I was apprehensive to start but Zara is very approachable and provides a non-judgmental environment. Her classes are the perfect mix of fun while still improving your ballet technique.
I would highly recommend her classes!
Zara’s classes are relaxed and fun for adults of all experience levels, and the students are so supportive and encouraging of one another. She provides correct ballet technique, while maintaining a casual atmosphere, and encouraged me to go en pointe, which was something I didn’t think was possible for me, having started ballet in my 30s. Highly recommended for anyone who is on the fence about returning to ballet after years away, or adults who have always wanted to try it out.
Love my classes at Kwan Studio. Zara is an amazing teacher who is super encouraging and supportive while still correcting my technique which is hard to find in a ballet teacher. Definitely recommend to anyone whether your a beginner or have a few years of experience
Have had private and group classes with Zara and can say that she is an amazing ballet teacher for adults. Group classes have a great relaxed energy but she still makes sure that everyone is using the correct technique and she will give individual corrections which is very useful and I think the mark of a fantastic teacher. She is also very positive and supportive and I have improved a lot under her teaching. Can't recommend Kwan Studio enough if you want to get into ballet!
I’ve tried almost all the adult ballet classes in Melbourne, and Zara is by far my favourite teacher! Classes are laid back and welcoming, but the Zara makes sure to give unique and helpful corrections to each individual which makes a world of difference - I feel like in a few classes I improved more than I had in years!
Zara is an excellent teacher. She's patient and always pushes you to do your best. The group classes are very welcoming; her private classes are great too, if you wish to focus on more specific things. Highly recommend!
Being a good dancer and a good teacher are two very different skills. Zara has a talent for both. So not only will she teach you well, but she’s beautiful to watch at the same time. She is just the right blend of warm, funny and articulate. Like most ballet teachers, she doesn’t have a physiotherapy degree, but she has a very good eye for correcting technique. When I’ve done enough pre pointe conditioning, I will be going to her to learn pointe work for sure.
