Kumala Fish & Chips

Batterd fish was golden crunchy as was chips and potato cakes. Salt and pepper salmom was cooked perfectly. Service with a smile and workers smiling while working.

Utterly disappointed! The batter was possibly for worst I've ever had. It was about 10mm thick on each side with the texture of custard on the inside and looked like porridge when scraped off the lifeless imitation looking flesh. I had to rip all the batter from off from 1 side just to make it edible. The fish inside tasted old and processed like a fish stick from Coles! No flavour what so ever, Rubbery and didnt flake at all. Pardon the pun. The dim Sims and potato cakes are standard generic ones from Coles freezer which is OK but far from special. Even the coke cans were flat and tasted as though they had been left out in sun. With no passion from the owners I don't know why they bother to keep the doors open. Regular customers must just be too lazy to go to captain gs. Absolute disaster. 5 thumbs down

Friendly staff, always give generous servings and very fresh food! A go to when the craving for fish & chips hits.

We are from Adelaide staying with relatives in Bayswater. We saw this Fish & Chip shop as we were walking to the supermarket and as we had decided previously that we wanted fish & chips for dinner we decided to try this take away.
All I can say is ‘WOW’.
The staff were really lovely and the food was perfect. We had Barramundi (both fried & grilled), chips, potato cakes and salt & pepper calamari.
The serving sizes were extremely generous (none of us could finish our meal).
We will definitely be repeat customers whenever we are in Melbourne and I HIGHLY recommend Kumala.
