Koonung Creek Reserve reviews
26Have always been riding my bike passing this awesome reserve. Apparently a private light plane also made an emergency landing there! Not sure if the pilot would pat himself on the back for a technical landing or thank the City of Boroondara for keeping such a space that saved his butt!
Long narrow strip park which is very popular with locals for walking, cycling, picnics, dog play etc.
There is street parking alongside the park and toilets, picnic shelters and playgrounds sprinkled along the length of the park which runs parallel with the Eastern Freeway.
. And recently, as of 06/02/2023, an impromptu emergency landing strip for an aeroplane, a Piper Cherokee Six, Registration Number: VH-UST, which landed here safely after an engine failure whilst on its return trip to Lilydale Airport.
The pilot did a textbook landing magnificently, performing an emergency landing in a highly populated area, on a very short strip of fairly bumpy, hillocky grass with only metres from its wingtips to trees on either side of the hillock on its approach to land.
You can check out the final flight on "Flight Radar" by typing in its registration number and selecting it's last flight.
Awesome place, beautiful location and atmosphere. Bike trail, hiking trail, ponds, natural beauty, picnic areas, playground it has everything your heart needs ️
Fenced playground with a BBQ facilities, only one table available. Toilet isn't in used, unfortunately. There are walking trails available and good for biking too.
Nice little fully fenced playground with a shelter, bbq and toilet. Easy parking and a great path for bike rides right beside.
Amazing trail. You can literally walk from here all the way to Ringwood facing east or to the city facing west.
Expansive parkland with toilet and bike repair station. A pity that the noise from the freeway impinges on the peace and quiet of the park.
If you live in the area it is one of the best places to walk your dog, bike ride or just exercise in general.
Great place to walk or ride. Could do without the motorised scooter, skateboard and Bike which spoil the ambiance
Great park tucked in right next to the Eastern Freeway. Lots of trails with nice wildlife to see. There's also a playground and even a little beach for dogs to swim in. It's definitely worth visiting and has something for most people.
Its a good park for walks, bike rides and taking the dogs for walks. I take my dog for a bike run. Great place for exercise esp during this lockdown
I love walking from my home to this park, it is beautiful! Good for families, dogs, cyclists and runners.
Great commute trail with lots of green space for picnics, fairly level path for those who need an easy pathway, no steep inclines. Peaceful pond to take a break at and watch the bird life.
Small playground next to an bike trail and loads of grass area to kick a ball.
Major down side of the place: noise of the nearby freeway.
So much green space, huge areas for moving around, child-friendly, dog-friendly. Bike riders are usually courteous but can be grumpy when there are walkers or children on the path. If you like dogs, this is the place to be in the afternoons!
Great place to walk your dog without a lead. Great for a jog and great to ride your bike. It has water spots for people sand dogs, public gum equipment, even a bike repair station next to the toilet.
A nice long and very dog friendly park. Perfect for an evening stroll, There is a bike path that runs through the park, but plenty of open areas to let your dogs run free. Fitness stations are dotted along the length of the park and are rarely used, but in very good condition.
Nice place, playground, lots of exercise equipments, running/walking/cycling tracks available. Toilets, water and bike repair centre are there.
What an awesome Walking Running & Cycling Track along the Freeway. Beautiful Birds. Greenery and facilities
Almost perfect. Rolling slopes, water, BBQ and toilet. Leash free area nearby. Just needs one more BBQ and ideally something a bit more exciting in the play equipment area for older kids.
