Kissaten Alphington きっさてん reviews
23Cute cafe in leafy Alphington. I ordered the vegan ramen and it was ok. Presentation was also a lot different from the online menu. I was looking forward to the hojicha but was disappointed with the lack of flavour- should have opted for the matcha.
Lovely and popular cafe in the Alphington area. Decent sized indoor area but also great dog friendly space outside. Cute little takeaway coffee window accessible from the outside, reducing crowding and foot traffic on the inside. Japanese inspired menu with classic ramen on the menu too. Friendly efficient staff, never had to ask for water top ups as there was a fresh bottle every time we emptied the previous. I had the tonkotsu ramen and friend had the breakfast ramen. The pork did not have a strong flavour but the ramen was cooked to perfection. Coffees were great too. Worth driving a little ways out for this. Will be back!
Had lunch here on the recent labour day public holiday. The ramen was nice enough with a flavourful broth. The Azuki toast was a problem though, with the shokupan being very dry. Apparently it’s sourced from Cobb lane which was surprising and made me wonder if there could have been an issue with supply over the long weekend. Although at around 60-70% seating capacity, it was a 35 min wait for food which is a little longer than what I have come to expect for brunch/lunch at cafes. Overall, probably closer to 3.5/5 but I do have to give benefit of the doubt due to it being a public holiday/long weekend and the potential for staffing/supply issues.
Got bad coffee and toasted take away bread, was not offered butter with bread or napkin and it was barely toasted.
Very friendly. Great place to relax after a kayak on the Yarra. Ride your bike up to the take away window out the back. Also nice inside or in the shaded outdoor area.
Loved our time here. Quaint little modern cafe with display cakes, pastries, and a whole menu which we didn’t get a chance to try. But their hot choc was amazing. I asked for a weak and I got a perfectly balanced weak. Order can be made online by scanning a QR code on the table.
Fantastic coffee and vibrant menu as well. Always fresh food with a Japanese spin, not your typical old cafe menu for sure!
Great out door deck for a place to relax as well. 10/10.
Nice coffee, a bit noisy at the main street side but they have a back yard. We liked it and will come a cross to take away a coffee or two.
Love that you can sit outside in covered courtyard. Service great. Great food. Sometimes the codes on the table do not work to bring up menu. Courtyard area dog friendly
Great cafe in Alphington to go for a coffee or some authentic Japanese inspirers food. Lots of outdoor seating out the back. Staff are friendly and efficient.
Ramen for breakfast? Hell yeah! Tried @kissaten_alphington for the first time the other day. It’s not bad- I had the breakfast ramen, which had this super delicious sausage but sadly the soup lacked the depth. My kiddos’ charsiu in the charsiu ramen is really good too, but once again the depth of flavour is not there?
What I was really impressed with it’s the Loaded Okonomiyaki Fries- now that- was amazing! Do you like wiggly bonito flakes? It’s so cute!
It is the best to have soba on a sunny day, so refreshing! The pork in ramen is nicely roasted. Very friendly staff!
Popped by Kissaten for the first time!
Thoroughly enjoyed the coffee and matcha brownie!
Love the aesthetic atmosphere inside dining
And the staff where so warm and inviting,
I appreciate all the details:)
Thank you! I'll be sure to come by again and again!
Below average cafe with unfriendly staff, namely the blonde woman behind the counter. Courtyard is a mess. I miss the old APTE.
Great cafe. Lots of food options - not all Japanese inspired so the uninitiated like me are catered for. Very friendly and helpful staff. Indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of room (not packed in like sardines!), parking at rear. Happy, friendly atmosphere and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Great Place, highly recommend.
Took the plunge and tried the breakfast ramen. I liked it! Not sure if I would have it all the time but I enjoyed that it was different.
I love breakfast ramen and usual coffee with single origin options (dbl.espresso & magic) Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will return
After seeing that Kissaten was on a list for top ramen places in Melbourne, I had to try it out. I can confirm that their ramen is amazing, and so is their coffee!
Very Slow service. Their food description is not accurate so if you have any allergies do ask the extra question dont order by what you read on the description! Not good experience overall.
Kissaten at Alphington is one of my all time favourite cafes. There are loads of options on the menu, the food is first class and the service is brilliant - really friendly staff who know their clientele and make the effort to make sure you’re being looked after and made to feel welcome. I’ve recommended this cafe to so many of my friends and nobody has ever been disappointed. I can’t recommend it highly enough - you can thank me later!
