Kimchi Grandma Restaurant reviews
70Absolutely delicious food, the pork bulgogi is to die for. I have it for dinner once a week. Service is great as well!
We ordered Bibimbap, spicy pork bulgogi, sweet soy fried chicken and seafood pancake. The sweet soy chicken is coated with too much sauce, chicken not crispy. The rest are just ok.
Used to a great Korean restaurant decades ago, but now is just the shadow of its former success.
The outfit seems desperately need some renovation.
We ordered bulgogi, pork spare ribs, kimchi jigae and seafood pancake.
The food were mediocre (the pork spare rib was nice though) and on a weirdly sweet side.
On positive side, the staffs were attentive and polite.
Worst response from the staff. Restaurant is so big and no one responds to customers and they say long wait time, they say it on face to leave if we cant wait. Worst service ever
They need some improvement especially under new management. The staff looked frantic even when it was not super busy. Also, it seems that the food quality has dropped a bit. The staff was extremely polite but seemed a bit confused as to what they needed to do.
Been here many times. Don't think Korean chef cooks dishes any more. Can only see Chinese staff. Not sure what it is.the food isn't Korean food. We are so disappointed. FYI I am Korean so I know our dishes.
Popular Korean restaurant, authentic homestyle food, prepared by a couple of Korean halmoni (grandmothers). Weirdly don't provide any Banchan like nearly every other Korean resto we've been to, but you can still order side dishes.
Ordered kimchi bibimbap and ate here with friends during odd hours. Very filling and delicious. Owner is very kind.
Decent Korean restaurant if you select the right menu items.
Had the spicy beef bulgogi, spicy cold noodles and kimchi don. The spicy beef bulgogi is decent and popular. The spicy cold noodles were bad. The kimchi don is great and very filling.
Expect to spend around $20/person.
This restaurant is extremely nice and delicious. The food felt very authentic and the flavours melt in your mouth. The staff never fail to make you feel welcome and the quality of food makes you craving back for more. Was pleasantly surprised!
The restaurant has been opened for more than 20 years, the food are always good. However, the lady staffs are not friendly, they need to learn how to smile. The toilets need an improvement. Overall is ok. Thank you
They must have a new owner and no korean chef!
Last visit a few years ago and I am one I knew the original owner.
I experienced a few different owner thou. Last night was the worst
We were the only one there at 6.00
Green tea had no flavour, gyoza very poor, fried tofu bonito sauce not the nicest. My son’s beef teriyaki ordinary.
We use to get side dishes with our main courses but not anymore. They charge the steamed rice as well
Over all I will not go back there
I think this place deserves higher rating for the food! Sure it's a bit pricey BUT for 2 plenty of leftover food to take home.
And taste wise really damn good! Worth a try and visit
Widely touted as one of the best Korean restaurants in Carnegie but left with a disappointing experience.
Went with the spicy beef bulgogi and cold noodles which were both disappointing dishes. I would not recommend either.
Felt like I chose the wrong dishes when I went.
Poor service, guys do teach your staff to look at the delivery devices & if you can't keep up with the orders than close the devices. It won't waste driver time.
The food here was barely edible. For starters the quality of the beef used was awful, it had such an off taste to it I had to take it out of my bibimbap and yukgaejang. The soups and sauces are also so incredibly oily and don't have an authentic korean taste whatsoever. The taste was more reminiscent of chinese cuisine. The bibimbap completely lacked any flavour whatsoever even after adding copious amounts of Gochujang. The food is also quite expensive for a modest korean joint. Not recommended at all, avoid if possible.
My favourite Korean restaurant. Especially love the Fried Chicken and Beef ribs.
Takoyaki lacked a lot of flavour, not crispy.
The chicken ginseng soup lacked ginseng flavour. I assume they used a packet rather than it being home made but still enjoyed it and meat was tender!
$25 for seafood stir fry udon? I’d pay $30 for that! It was amazing full of flavour and seafood ingredients. I recommend everyone to try it
Decent, basic Korean food, busy, very loud (hard to hold a conversation), good service, good prices.
Everything’s on average. I like the sauce of the ribs. First time being charged for sides in a Korean restaurant.
