At the age of 16 I was told I needed to watch my uniform as there were male teachers around. My skirt was only a few mm above my knees. I would highly discourage any girls attending this school since the male teachers apparently can’t handle themselves around underage teenage girls.

This school also is completely ignorant to other cultures, it was within uniform policy at the time I attended that we were allowed to wear cultural or religiously significant jewelry, but the white staff decided my culture jewelry wasn’t ethnic enough for them. I was forced to remove a very significant necklace that I wore every day since 3 months old, never ever took it off prior in respect to my culture and family. I will never forgive this school for taking away such a beautiful and significant part of my culture just because it didn’t fit their aesthetic.

Now on to mental health, I was 17 years old, I had the rights to medical privacy. I was dumb and trusted the school counselor as I was desperate for help. The school took my trust and spat on it, got in contact with my abuser, revealing to them that I had told someone about the abuse I was receivingand let’s just say, this school is lucky I did it end up dead or killing my self after that incident. I should honestly be sending them a bill for the years of therapy I have had after just to try to move on from this traumatic experience

I saw another reviewer who was from the class of 2015 talking about poor mental health care and discrimination against LGBTIA students and I honestly couldn’t agree more, experienced the same thing myself years later. This school called the police on me due to a panic attack I was having, I wish I could scream louder to warn everyone to stay away from this place.

This school will do what ever they can to make them look beautiful on the outside, including cherry picking the rare and few students of color to look like a diverse place, but this is the place where I learnt that because I don’t look like the majority I will not be treated the same.

My main take away from what they seemed to focus on the most: they cared more about how girls looked then our education. Having your education docked due to having the wrong colour hair tie is ridiculous. Basically teaching us that women won’t get anywhere if we don’t make ourselves look presentable to other peoples standards, prioritizing aesthetics over quality education. Telling me about female empowerment while punishing girls for not living up to their aesthetic standards.

Kilbreda has been such a great school for our daughters. They offer a huge range of opportunities for students, the staff are great and so are the facilities which are always being improved. Our daughters have been really well supported and encouraged to take up leadership roles. They offer a lot of wellbeing programs and the academic results have really improved over the last few years. We’re so happy that we chose Kilbreda.

I have had the privilege of attending Kilbreda College since 2017 and have just recently graduated as a member of the Class of 2021. I found I was welcomed into a school community that values and supports each student to give things a go and to do their best. I was lucky to be involved in many varied and unique opportunities such as sporting teams, immersion trips, leadership teams and social justice initiatives. My time at Kilbreda was made special due to the wonderful people I was surrounded by each day- my peers, teachers and the whole of Kilbreda will always hold a special place in my heart.

As a recent graduate of Kilbreda College 2021 I feel so blessed to have been a student in such a welcoming community where everyone is encouraged to express themselves and inspired to create positive change.

I was provided with countless opportunities to be a member of sporting teams, school productions, choirs, bands and ensemble groups, as well as being a leader and learning the importance and efficiency of team work and motivating each other to do our best and achieve goals.

I am so grateful to have been surrounded by such genuine, caring peers as well as the teachers over my 6 years at this special college who put so much into their lessons and who always took the time to ensure each student feels valued and heard.

Kilbreda like any school has positive and negative aspects. I found some teachers went above and beyond to help me and encourage me such as Ms Wallace, Ms Smyth, Mrs Everett and Mr Murrill who inspired me and are people who i will cherish forever.

But there is a large amount of forcing students to fit into this box of what the school wants to be perceived as. There is great pressure put on uniforms, hair and jewelry when other topics such as mental health are seen to be glossed over. The bullying isn't overt like many reviews say but more passive aggressive and understable why it is difficult for teachers to resolve.

I am happy to now be graduated but i learnt a lot from kilbreda some good some bad like any high school it will not be perfect for everyone.

Firstly, let me just say that some of the reviews on here for Kilbreda are beyond ridiculous. I have nothing but praise for the teachers who go above and beyond to ensure the students have all the support they need, beginning with the Year 7 transition from primary school and throughout the years to graduation. The school encourages students to develop independent ideas and opinions and prepares them for life after school. The teachers make themselves available should any extra help be required and the school caters for all interests. I highly recommend Kilbreda and am extremely thankful this was the school we chose for our daughter.

My sister attends this school and when in online learning the teacher kicked her out of the call bc she didn't have her camera on. She wanted to type in chat to say her laptop was lagging and wouldn't let her unmute or turn her cam on but she couldn't click the chat button. So Mr Moore forced my sister out of a class so she didn't learn anything in that period of science.

I don't like this school.some teachers are really mean.they overload you with homework.so many kids vape on school grounds.don't send ur kids here unless you want to pay for their therapy for years to come.

This school is horrible. It doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Miss brown is the worst teacher in the school and no other teachers do anything about it when they know how bad she is. Bullying is a big problem in this school and no teachers care about it except the nice ones which are very rare and most of them left anyways. This school cares more about the uniform then education and mental health.

Lovely school, teachers kind of mean but the students make up for it, especially shreks toes, they really share my passion for plungers and the ones at this school are immaculate.very delicious, touch is so smooth

I don't even want to give this school one star. Graduated class of 2015 and hated every day of it. The bullying is rampant, especially for queer students. Staff could not care less about students with mental health issues or special needs, I myself was left, at one point, to have a dissociative episode while 5 teachers watched, less than a few meters from me and did nothing, aside from shoo off my emergency contact when she came to help me. The school only cares about their image and reputation.

Students are not obeying covid rules on public transport. Most students were wearing their masks at their chins and not even trying to social distance and the train was practically empty before they got on.
I also witnessed two girls kicking each other. Not impressed.

Teach your students how to respect others space and that wearing masks isn't just for them, it's for everyone's safety.

We found Kilbreda to be true to its values of strength and kindliness. Our daughter had personal struggles through secondary school and she, and we, as parents, received so much support from all staff. Despite not making strong friendships, she left Kilbreda much more confident than when she joined due to the care and support of the staff. We have noticed and appreciated the many positive changes that have been made in recent years at the school to improve academic performance, broaden the opportunities for girls, as well as the many improvements to buildings and grounds.

I had an amazing experience here at Kilbreda College as a student (graduated 2016). I was offered the chance to study further in so many different fields-performing arts, language, science and social justice via extra curricular programs. The school has a passion for social justice which changed my perspective on life forever. The community is encouraging and warm and the school was my second home. I loved all of my peers and teachers here!
