Kidko Performing Arts School & Chambers Music reviews
20The Kidko team were absolutely fantastic with my autistic daughter so understanding and patient! Thanks
3 of my children learn with Kidko and we could not be happier. The founder Rebecca is an incredible role model for young performers and all of their teachers are experienced, friendly and enthusiastic. My kids love learning piano and singing through Kidko and have also built their confidence in performing on stage in front of others.
In addition to the exemplary musicianship established at this simply outstanding establishment, this musical haven extends the soul beyond the reach of the four walls where it is contained. Rebecca and Greg are the warmest people and you'll instantly fall in love with them both. The teachers are committed and driven and make practicing a pleasure, and playing a joy. Could not recommend any other music school more than Kidko
It is unfair to give an overall rating of one star when the teachers who taught my two children were amazing, however, this rating is called for in reflect of the communications made by the Directors themselves, Rebecca and Greg. The tone it carried were condescending, the language used were repulsive and personal attacking, the facts were twisted and so on. This had been brought to the school’s attention where a meeting was called to find a resolution but was ignored by Kidko.
I inquired a $668 invoice where I was expecting $258, and it escalated with the refusal to amend my invoice, where I asked for it to reflect our contractual agreement of lessons being conducted on particular days of the week. They took it upon themselves to change the dates without prior consent or notification. I requested that my invoice is to reflect accordingly, they refused (as screen shot) then gave me the option to withdraw… over a 3 lesson dispute. I read over their T&Cs and it does not state that Kidko has the right to make changes to scheduling as they see fit, on the contrary, they put in a clause that clients are only permitted to make change request once per term in writing. Within the Consumer Affairs it clarifies this as an Unfair Contract Term and it was raised to Kidko but to no avail. I reiterated what my options were and they confirmed I either accept their forceful approach of adding lessons on dates I did not agree to or I was given a choice to withdraw.
I previously had another school parent community approached me with the feedback on their repulsive & ego-driven communication style from their management and I took it on as feedback only, and possibly a one-off bad experience only, as I personally had not experienced the same treatment at the time, but I have now experienced it first hand after 1 year in and would not be recommending Kidko to anyone. This can be proven in their response to negative reviews as I expect to receive one on here as well. I am in awe, at the same time amazed, at how my original intent of inquiring an incorrect invoice of +$400 difference, to then becoming as they quote the one requesting a refund, AND refusing to pay AND disputing over a “$41” charge AND I became the reason why my children & the music teachers then became penalised for. I am highly offended, and baffled to say the least, on how I could possibly request a REFUND for something I have not paid for and was not requested for in the first place! No service, no product, no agreement, no payment. There shouldn’t even be anything. Then the accusation of my REFUSAL to pay, well yes, I refuse to pay for the x3 lessons I did not agree to having but am happy to pay for what I agreed to.
Overall, I do not recommend to even start at this place, otherwise you will eventually one day become as they quote one of “those families who are equally awful”.
My daughters have both atteneded Kidko for over 4 years from an early age. - both learning piano. The teachers have been fantastic & the mini concerts (pre-COVID) were excellent. Highly recommend)
Kidko have greatly supported our 2 children’s musical learning for nearly 10 years. Rebecca and her teaching team are highly qualified and passionate professionals, who take a genuine responsibility in developing their student’s learning and love of music. Kidko provide students many opportunities to challenge themselves with live performances to close family and friends, as well as closely supports student through the examination pathways. Our family has always found their services value for money and flexible timing to cater to our children’s multiple interests. I would highly recommend Kidko as a wonderful way to begin any young person’s musical journey.
My 3 children has been attending various musical instruments lessons at Kidko over the years and the team has been fabulous. Quick response and accommodating to my children's needs in trying new instruments.
My two older kids have been having lessons at Kidko for over 5 years - including piano, singing and trumpet. The teachers have all been excellent and Rebecca and Greg who run the school are so welcoming and supportive of all their students. Can't wait for my 3 year old to start lessons here soon!
We’ve learned piano and violin here for 3 years. Really love the school and the managers especially Rebecca. Very responsive, flexible and passionate. They instilled a love of music in my child.
My daughter has been going to Kidko since Prep to learn piano (about to start Grade 6!). We love the caring teachers and the flexibility to have her class across the road from APPS during the school day so we don’t need to squeeze another activity after school.
Rebecca is the most wonderful piano teacher who I've ever met.
She knows how to encourage my boy to keep practicing and helps him realise technique and music history in an entertaining way.
She allows me to attend the lesson. My boy and I always look forward to every Saturday morning to see her.
We have known Rebecca since our children started piano lessons almost 10 years ago. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have Rebecca as the piano teacher for our kids, not only is she an exceptional pianist, but she is also a brilliant teacher who shares her love of music and makes learning fun. The Kidko team have been a wonderful support during a particularly difficult year, and our kids have continued to progress. Thank you Kidko!
Highly recommend booking into Kidko, the teachers are all amazing and make my daughters weekly lesson not just educational but super fun for her.
Outstanding school of music, friendly staff, fun and encouraging atmosphere, high quality instruments and run by one of the best music teachers that we have had the fortune to experience, highly recommended!
My 10 y.o. Son has had piano lessons with Kidko for the past few years and I have been exceptionally impressed by both the genuine care for the individual student and the quality of teaching at every stage. Rebecca and Sam (and previous teachers) have all been absolutely fantastic. They are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the learning experience is tailored to the individual needs of the student and most importantly, to keep it as fun and enjoyable for kids as possible so they are actually motivated to learn music! I cannot speak highly enough about them.
My family has been with Kidko for nearly 7 years having piano and performance lessons. Teachers are always very skilful in their art. Kidko looks after their families and listens to the parents and the kids
We have had our 2 boys attend Kidko throughout their primary years at Albert Park and they have both had such a great experience. Sam in particular was a very attentive teacher that customised his teachings for each child to get the best out of them.
My daughter has been part of the Kidko family for 8 years now and loves it. We are so fortunate to have a group of highly skilled music professionals in the area. Kidko offers a great blend of professionalism, flexibility, warmth, and friendliness. Rebecca & Greg seamlessly transitioned to online lessons during lockdown. The connection was a saving grace during this time.
My daughter was a student at kidko for over 5 years. It is a wonderful music school with excellent teachers and is very well run.
Fantastic music school with great facilities and studios. The teachers are enthusiasts and extremely supportive of kids learning and enjoying music.
