Kent Hotel

Ran out of carlton draught beer on tap. Wouldn't serve stubbies as they were for a function. Chips were under cooked. Very disappointing this time.

Have been going to the Kent Hotel for some 52years and have never been disappointed and have referred many friends there, until the last few times in the last 6 months. Not sure what's changed lately. The meal l had there last night was probably my LAST. The Fish & Chips ($28), was nothing short of disgusting! Fish was a tasteless mush and the batter was oil soaked. Chips were soggy as well. I don't like doing bad reviews, but feel they need to know. Hopefully they can turn this Iconic hotel around back to where it used to be. Bring back the Quality & Service.

This pub has gone shockingly downhill in the last 12 months. No idea why, but the food is barely acceptable, service is lacking, and there’s simply no reason to go here. I hope they can pick up their game, because it used to be pretty good.

Refreshingly great experience
From the friendly and professional staff to the extensive and enticing menu and the lovely outdoor setting, across from a large park, it's hard to fault this place. We've driven past it for years, always thinking - must try it. It's menu is modern Australian, but whoever is at the helm really exceeds any expectations - it's way beyond pub food. Great wine list including plenty by the glass. We booked a little early for dinner which made parking much easier (6.45pm). Second visit we went upstairs. Not a great choice. Very dull atmosphere and decor. Stay downstairs if possible. Dined again January 2024. Another great meal and lovely atmosphere just inside with doors all beautifully wide open on a sunny day.

Just had my birthday party in the function room upstairs. Staff were very friendly and professional. My guests were raving about the food all night! The food is very fresh and you could tell that they use quality ingredients. Gosia was great in helping me plan my night and working with me to make sure my night was perfect! Would definitely book again and be back for a meal!

Dropped by for lunch had the salt and pepper calamari which was tender and slightly sweet. The small side salad and aioli added the right amount of acidity to offset the fried seafood. Sat outside and was able to enjoy the slight breeze and sunshine. Had a couple of persistent wasps float about for a few minutes but they were easily shooed away.

Never had a bad meal there, and the staff are great. I always look forward to ordering homemade yummy doughnuts.

Ordered the swordfish only to be served Dory as a substitute and not told about it, until we instead that it was not swordfish.asked by senior staff member to send email to manager this was met with complete Silence not a reply or acknowledgement or apology. Spent over 300 dollars for four for very average meal especially the so called swordfish. Give this place a big miss overrated and they do not care about their customers just the money

Absolute amazing staff. We were upstairs for my sisters bday and food was great as well.

The Staff the way they are makes the nights just that mor great.

I just celebrated my 30th Birthday upstairs in the function room. We had the most amazing time, all the Staff were fabulous on the night and helped make my 30th birthday a memorable one. The food was so delicious, my guests have not stopped talking about it. Big shout out to the chefs on that night.

If you have an event for the future, look no further. The Kent Hotel staff went above and beyond and I can’t wait to come back for future events.

They are ok Carlton pizza, mushroom>moz imo.just noted my partner said his margarita tastes like chemical and he disliked it.but the opening time is Pog.this place opens before 5pm so I didn't need to starve until 5 which I'll say I'm happy with it.

Great hotel and lovely food as always (we were there for "Steak Night" this week!) I would be happier if the staff wore masks though.

We have family friends who rave about this place. I've been longing to visit the great Aussie pub since Covid (given that I live in the US) and am here visiting for the week.

The Kent is a cracker of a place. Service is excellent, what a great location on the corner and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. More importantly the food punches well above its weight. I had the fish and chips (rockling was excellent), my Dad had this amazing Cavatelli pasta in a wagyu and pork bolognese sauce (this was amazing) and Mum had the scallops.

The Kent represents the best of what a Melbourne pub can and should be. Not pretentious, excellent food and service with a smile. This is why I miss Australia!

Talented staff will do anything to make you stay number one. Will sing and tap dance on a table if necessary or unnecessary. Food service A1.

The Kent never disappoints. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, and the food was great. Terrific wine list as well. A great local pub with that Carlton North atmosphere.

The new manager at this place is rude. We’ve been coming here for ages but the new management ensures that I would never go there again.

I never have a bad experience at the Kent Hotel. Perfect spot for a casual catchup. The food is delicious, the service is great and I love the non-alcohol options on the drinks list too.

Love this place. It has stood the test of time since I moved into the area 35 years ago! Lovely ambience lovely Park Outlook lovely menu wines staff eccetera.

The staff are all super lovely and the food is great. They also have an excellent Chardonnay by the glass!
