Kedai Satay in Wells St reviews
30Good little place for fast, tasty and decent Indonesian cuisine, staff are friendly, price is pretty good too.
Great food, quickly served - but what pushes this place to 5 stars is the value for money which in this day and age is excellent.
Great flavours but portions are quite small. Left hungry after having the $17 grilled beef balls on yellow rice.
I had the grilled chicken and it was delicious. Well cooked and not dry. Will be back for more.
The ribs here are to die for! Perfectly cooked, slide off the bone ribs with a yummy satay sauce. The sambal packed a punch and the turmeric yellow rice was a perfect accompaniment to the dishes.
The Soto ayam tasted fragrant with nice hints of lemongrass and was a good dish for a cold winter night.
Really good spot if you are in the area. Friendly staff who will seat you if there are free tables
Dropped in for an early lunch take away, so can't comment on the atmosphere, other than there appears to always be people in there eating, a good sign. Nasi kuning (yellow rice), Ayam, tempe, tahu (tofu) sauces and a small salad. Indonesian comfort food, made by a nice Sumatran man. Made my tummy very happy. Only been there once b4 for take away, but definitely going back to try some of the other dishes. Not a great photo cos I was too busy eating.
Always have great meals here, low prices too grab a beer and the beef ribs with yellow rice. Oh and the home made chilly is to die forr!
Kedai Satay in Wells St is a pretty cool place with some really fresh and tasty food on the Menu, the Satay Chicken Skewers were the soul reason for my visit and they were not a disappointment although the girl who served me told me a entirely wrong price which had me feeling overcharged and confused, it wasn't until I called back and asked the price over the phone that I was told how much they actually cost, so that being said, the Skewers were Delicious, 5 Satay Chicken Skewers costs $12 50 and comes with some Chilli Sauce and a small Salad, the Skewers were definitely not the best I've had, but I think that just comes down to personal preference, I look forward to going back to try some other Menu items, I do Recommend checking out Kedai Satay in Wells St Melbourne.
The lamb ribs just fall off the bone. Delicious. The beef ribs were just as good but chunkier pieces.
Yummy food

Prices have increased, unfortunately the food portion and quality both dropped. Used to be my favourite but not anymore.
So tasty! And extremely reasonable price on their menu. It was a fairly quick service especially during busy lunch hours. I will definitely visit again.
Found this little gem by chance waiting for the Mrs at her appointment up the road, so me and the baby decided to go for a walk. Came across this place and glad I did food was really good and cooked to perfection! Will be coming back soon!
Best indo food I've had! Beef ribs and chicken is fantastic. And the peanut sauce gives some real childhood memories. Double meat serve is a great affordable option if you've got rice at home. Cendol definitely gives me some real nostalgia too!
BEST satay in Melbourne - hands down. The beef ribs are great - and satay chicken out of this world. Comes with yellow rice and a small tasty salad. Friendly service and very clean
I used to enjoy coming here every fortnight until they wouldn’t correct items missing from my previous order despite me calling when it occurred and reminding them today. 2 yellow rice was missing (no issue, these things happen), however when I came back today to order my usual 2 meals, they wouldn’t give me two yellow rice to correct the previous mistake. They charged me again. So for the $7 or 2 complimentary rice, you lose my $43 every fortnight forever. I refuse to support such poor customer service greedy businesses.
Great Indonesian food. I lived in Indo for a year and this place is as good as any there. Pure gold!
Cost effective lunch with the best and punchy flavoured food! Definitely will come back to this place.
I love this place.
The meals are super quick, super affordable, and very easy to demolish.
I highly recommend the assorted Crepe Cakes they have served with Ice cream, and would take photos to share.
Unfortunately the spoon keeps hitting the cake before my camera does.
Loved the place, thanks management. Excellent tasty food. We ordered onthon (chicken and sea fish meshed), grilled chicken salad and their signature item chicken skewers with yellow pilaf rice. They are not specialised for tea but on request they made milk tea; ok type. Thanks for welcoming customer service.
Downside- they don’t note down order, so they forget things
So happy to find this authentic Indonesian food. Too tempting that we forgot to take a picture of the food Had the gado gado, bakso and lamb ribs with yellow rice. The lamb ribs was so good but the overall spiciness is just so not Indonesian enough. Despite that I enjoyed the food very much and will definitely revisit for dine in after the lockdown. Keep it up
