Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre reviews
18 As a student who is finding a good spot to study, I guess Kathleen is not a perfect place to revise. Although the location is convenient, study space is limited: o
EDIT: Hygiene can be improved. There are flies on the tables in the study zone.
Incredible venue space, thankyou so much to the library for letting us hold our writing group here. Highly recommend looking into the meeting rooms if you want to run a workshop or anything similar.
Very nice library, quiet and comfortable environment. The staff are very kind, competent and attentive.
My contact with K Syme has always been enjoyable and constructive. It is a great resource for Carlton residents and I look forward to many more visits.
Excellent library and facilities. Even has a coffee shop and picnic tables outside near the entrace.
So many resources, so little time. Yes, it's a library, we know what that means. It also has E-waste recycling right at the entrance. There is a Makers Room to learn new skills. There are DVDs and access online to Kanopy for film streaming. This library is ace
Very friendly library with family. The only thing is that some people were talking very loudly here. Might not be a place for studying.: (
This is a hidden gem of Carlton. Beautiful quiet place to unplug and enjoy a read and a coffee.
Great community centre and library. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Great bookable rooms for super affordable prices (small rooms for 4,20$ an hour) even got a recording studio to hire for 8,60$ an hour!
I must say, compared to the many library + places I visit to work from, I found the Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre very underwhelming. Especially as I had read that it was considered by some to be one of Melbourne's best libraries.
This place for me lacked vibe + inspiration. It is a bit like a rabbit warren and workspaces at pushed to the sides of narrow hallways, etc.
It is also tired looking compared to its other local peers.
WiFi + Power is good though.
I am shocked at how the people who frequent this library feel it is ok to have loud phone conversations in the designated quiet study areas. There is also a lack of seating with tables so be prepared to have to rest your laptop on your knees.
The library itself is a lovely, clean space with great, up-to-date books and other resources. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wifi is great. The noise levels, however, are unacceptable. Unfortunately I have found the staff, even moreso than the patrons, relentlessly share the banal details of their lives with no consideration for those seeking a quiet space to read and think.
Nice Library. Good Collections. Lot of Programs for Kids & Adults alike. Neatly maintained. Customer Friendly staffs. Five Stars *****
Nice place has a games room which is SO entertaining!) Although one of the playstation 4 controllers is broken!: - (
Hidden gem around the University of Melbourne in Carlton. Friendly staff, great facilities, and best cafe in town.
Absolutley love this library come here often, such a warming atmosphere. Great staff and so nice to have a cup of tea!
Liked the building - Victorian. Arrangements neat. Decent collection of books. Nice and quiet. Reading area good for studying. Outdoor coffee shop and seating. Very well managed library.
Within walking distance to Melbourne uni and a fantastic place to borrow books, with a great collection!
