What an awesome place to get fit and learn new skills!

Hesitant to start a brand new activity in my 30s, after playing ball sports my entire life, Kando and incredible team for instructors has made my first 6 months of martial arts so much fun.

The professional and practical way every session is run, along with the welcoming and friendly community of athletes makes training an absolute blast.

I strongly recommend checking out Kando Hughesdale if you are even remotely curious about learning martial arts, I only wish I had started sooner!

Can't recommend highly enough. The entire team is so generous with their knowledge, support and encouragement. Great ethos. Above all, so much fun.

My son is not good at ball sport so he was not very confident and thought he was not good. Kando provides and very positive environment for him to develop his movement skills and his self-esteem improves. All the Sampei are full of positive energy and kind. I am so glad to find a place my son can continue to develop his strength and minds.

My young son started at Kando Hughesdale in Feb 2022. He is an only child who had his kindergarten & first year of primary school significantly impacted by Covid.

I had heard about Kando from 2 other families & decided to do a trial. Neither I or my son's father have ever done any martial arts.

It has been just over a year since my son joined and I think it's time to review.

The staff here are amazing. Professional, engaging, and articulate. From helping parents/guardians or young students they are always friendly.

The Renshi, sensei and senpai are ideal role models. Their communication with students of all ages is always encouraging. I have never heard any aggressive, negative criticisms - only feedback & guidance given with positive, proactive speech. I have enormous respect and admiration for them and the reception staff.

Kids are encouraged to support each other, focus on self (perseverance & courage) & develop goals for growth. I have seen my own son's resilience grow through his time here.

Mat Chat is part of the program for kids. It involves discussing a range of topics from learning from failure/loss, peer group pressure, making things right when you do the wrong thing, and being true to yourself. As kids progress there is also a Leadership Program available that looks quite detailed.

Beyond tests for belts that occur a few times a year, Kando Hughesdale also host special events, school holiday programs and support to parents and students via online channels. This helps build the friendships between sensei/senpai & students. It's building a community.

The facilities are clean. Parents/guardians can watch their child in comfort. There is on-street parking available but it can get busy so it pays to plan your travel/parking time accordingly. Equipment is well maintained as are the dojos.

Consistently good instructors with great positive attitude. Full compliment of virtual classes during the COVID lockdowns to keep everyone engaged - great job!

I trained with the Team at Kando for 8 years - I started because one of my childern was training there and I kept going when he stopped! The approach is to keep it fun but the standard is always high, no paying for belts here! I enjoyed my time a great deal and can't praise the staff enough: From Shihan Paul, Renshi Jesse down to all the Sempais - they are a great group of people. My training buddies were great too. I am 60 now and just stopped training due to an injury (nothing to do with karate!). I'll miss it.

My 6yo son started a 4-week trial at Kando Little Dragons after the start of term 3 - although he started late in the year the teachers and staff have been nothing but kind, considerate, encouraging and helpful! He took some time to warm up, but with constant gentle encouragement from Sensei Brent, he has really enjoyed his classes in the dojo and online since lockdown. I would highly recommend Kando Hughesdale to anyone!

Awesome family dojo with classes for all ages. The teachers of the kids classes all grew up training at Kando so they make great role models for the kids.

Had 9 6ear old child attend for lessons weekly for a little while.
Not recommended.
School, classes and teachers seem ok.unfortunately it’s the complicated administration that lets this place down. Poor value for a lesson a week when juggling all the budget/kids activities.
Quick to sign you up, but after that very poor service.

Then they add little things in they didn’t tell you about included in the price, extra for insurance (!) etc.the cost they initially quote you is not what you will pay - you will pay more with the add ons

They make it very complicated to cancel your child’s membership, they keep taking money out of your account long after you stop your membership.

If you go here only do it on the basis you pay as you go - Cash - Do not give them your banking details / use direct debit or pay with card at there counter where there Card machine does not show You how much they are charging your card.

Wonderful, dedicated team of staff and instructors. Absolutely terrific with young children starting martial arts for the first time. Kind, patient and best of all, firm! Wonderful training for kids needing work around focus, concentration and discipline.

Kando is the Best Martial Arts club in Victoria! I have been training there for almost 10 years and have always loved it! Kandos not only a martial arts club but also a community. The people involved in the club are always awesome, friendly and the staff have the best customer service! I’ve learned so much growing up a part of Kando and not only in Martial Arts but also Life skills. I’ve also been involved in the Leadership and Instructing program since 2012 and that has helped me to grow as a leader and as a person so much more.

Not recommend at all!
this is not a place for traditional Karate.
It is run more like a business than a dojo.
Besides this I’m not recommend Kando Martial too anyone if you may have an interest do yourself a favor go to different school.
Reception very rude very bad customer service.

Great teachers. Great for kids. Though some classes are way too overcrowded now. And they could be better at communicating changes to the schedule.
