Kambo Chinese Restaurant reviews
27 Rubbish restaurant bad service that I never have!!!
If you are a boss and you care about your customers, you should read this Please !
First of all, I was waiting at the door to be seated. Your female employee was at the counter and stared at me very rudely and said "halo" to me. Then she asked me how many people there were and I said 6 people and took me to a small round table by the window. We were allowed to sit on only 2 stools. I was surprised that there were so many tables and we were allowed to sit on this one. I sat down around 9 o'clock, so there were only 5/6 customers there.
Second, I won’t mention the bad attitude your employees have when ordering our food!
With a look of disdain on my face, I can bear it, it’s okay. After ordering, I asked you if these meals were enough to place on this table. The male employee also said very rudely that you should only order these items. It will definitely be enough!
In the end, we actually spent more than half an hour waiting for our meal to come out. I didn't understand why we were asked to wait until we got impatient. Then we explained to us that it was a little late because the chef was eating.
What I am most dissatisfied with is the middle-aged man with glasses and bald hair and the girl in black.
Food is tasty. Standard Chinese restaurant style of service nothing overly fancy which is fine, here for the food not furnishings.
Kambo Chinese Restaurant is a traditional Cantonese restaurant in Forest Hill, Melbourne. It is a family-friendly restaurant with good consistent quality. The restaurant has many fish tanks with plenty of live seafood. The manager, Jason Fong, is always friendly and attentive to customers' needs. However, when the restaurant is busy, the staff can get overwhelmed, and service can drop. Overall, Kambo is an excellent restaurant with authentic Cantonese Chinese food, which is increasingly difficult to find in Melbourne.
I'm not one for reviews but this place deserves 5 stars! Took my mum here for mothers day and the service and food were great! Ordered the banquet for 2 and everything was staggered perfectly and tasted delicious.
Definitely recommend Kambo Forest Hill for any occasion
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The service was appalling - the waiters were uninterested and unfriendly. The food was very slow to come out of the kitchen, even though the restaurant was not particularly busy. After two hours, we had only been served three dishes. During the entire meal, none of the staff bothered to explain the reason for the delay or show any concern for our experience. To make matters worse, one of the dishes had a piece of plastic in it, which was a major health hazard. Overall, this was a completely unpleasant dining experience and I would not go back or recommend it to anyone else.
A True Chinese Culinary Experience: Kambo Chinese Restaurant
- Consistently delicious Chinese food
- Friendly staff that feels like family
- Highly recommended local Chinese restaurant
Kambo Chinese Restaurant is my go-to place for amazing Chinese food. They never disappoint with their flavourful dishes that keep me coming back for more. The staff is always friendly and makes you feel right at home! I highly recommend this local gem for an authentic Chinese dining experience.
Very nice. Crowded. Live fish and lobsters etc in tanks in the entrance. Food very nice and lots of it. We had a banquet B for 7 of us and it was xlnt. We were full by the end. Just a bit hard trying to get noticed by staff, but any staff member would attend to our needs. But they were very busy but very efficient.
I felt racially profiled. From the looks given from the host and the reluctance to give us a table yet there were many free tables. Very disappointing
On New Year's Eve, the set meal for 8 people plus other expenses was nearly $1,000. It was originally a happy dinner, but I didn't expect the dishes to be so "authentic"
The first and last time!
Although the blind cobia is picked up fresh, it has a strong muddy smell
The chicken is cold when served, and it is more chickeny
The ribs keep biting, and there is a bit of pig show
Seafood mixed vegetables, seafood is marinated with too much salt and only tastes salty
The abalone is eaten until the teeth come out
They are constantly biting!
The price is not cheap, so I hope the restaurant can improve its standards.
Chicken and pipi were not refresh and tasted very bad. Every watermelon slice has soil on it. They probably don’t even wash their ingredients.
I’ve been eating from this restaurant for a few times. Ow and I haven’t received any good service up to now. The food is good but the staff must learn to communicate with good manners. They have been kinda rude towards me even if I have been very kind and respectful. Also last time I ordered from this and I wanted to change the order 5 seconds after I made it and they said they can’t as they have already started cooking. I asked the cashier to go and check and he just went to the kitchen side and came back without even asking I saw it with my own eyes. Also please don’t buy the fried noodles they have if you don’t want it to be CRISPY fried noodles like chips. It is very misleading. They should name it crispy fried noodles and not fried noodles as fried noodles means something else like fried rice. But I’ve seen them treat the Asian customers well (I’m not pointing out anything). Just a bit of respect, flexibility and clear menu should be great. The food then again is good!
Ordered 2 meals for a total of $24.80 on their website. No ingredients listed or photos of the dishes. I Got a text saying wait was 15 mins. Went into the store 18 minutes later after struggling to find a close park available (I ordered at 8: 50, many parallel parking spaces available depending on time) the food was already waiting for me:)
Man at counter barely acknowledged me, I didn’t want to interrupt him because I thought he was busy but after a few weird looks I realised he was waiting for me to talk first. Bit awkward and a customer service no no. He was neither rude nor friendly during the interaction, just a bit neutral and annoyed to be there. He put the change in my hand and that was it. (To be fair I ordered take away for the food not the customer service so I’m just gonna ignore it in my personal final verdict)
The food was a bit warm but not at all hot when I got home (I live 5 minutes away) my meal was cold shortly after beginning eating but I put it in the microwave (easy fix, can’t really complain) The beef and vegetable noodles ($15.80) came in seperate containers. The noodles were hard (to be softened with the second half of the beef meal) but there was nowhere near enough sauce or liquid to soften the surface of the noodles let alone the whole container. Decent and reasonable sizes, very impressed with the proportions and will definitely have for tomorrows lunch and dinner.
Flavour was good, a little average but I definitely enjoyed the meal and would eat it again, there was not really many veggies so take that as a positive or a negative depending on your preferences.
The only true main concern was with the special friend rice. ($9) Very yummy, a little big eggy but I like that in a fried rice. Then I stumbled upon something a little disturbing. Early into my friend rice there was a weird hard and crunchy texture but I didn’t really think anything of it…. Until I found literal egg shell in my food. With egg still attached.egg shell I guess is edible and the ingredients aren’t listed on the website so I almost let it slide except for the fact that it was big. Double the size of my nail? And definitely would’ve been bigger if I hadn’t munched on it without realising earlier. I still ate the rest of the fried rice tho, it wasn’t the best I’ve tasted but for $9? Yes please and Thankyou! (minus the egg shell)
We were surprised when we walked in as this Chinese restaurant is packed on this Sunday night! The salt and pepper Chinese noodle fish we ordered is very delicious and reasonable big serve. Service is quick and good too. Recommended!
Among the best middle range Cantonese food restaurant in Melbourne. Good food and good service!
Oh my god, I love this place! Amazing food! Great service, friendly staff. Will definitely will be back.
I live around the corner and have never had a good experience here. But decided to try again seeing as it's been years since I last ordered food. Same unfriendly faces and horrible service. They serve who ever pushes to the front of the line. They don't care that you are orderly. Or that you are first in line. Don't bother. It will ruin your night.
Supreme service and delicious food! Thank you for taking such good care of us. Everything was delicious.
Food was reasonable but the service was terrible. Manager that served us was very sarcastic and rude when we didn't take his advice on the recommendation to order 3 dishes instead of 2. Bad experience and will never visit this restaurant again.
Food was just ok.not really authentic guangdong food. We ordered beef, lamb, chicken, they all tasted similar as they used the same sauce.
Very authentic Cantonese cooking. Would recommend to anyone looking for a real Chinese dining experience
