2 A GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR PRISONERS TO BE REINTEGRATED INTO SOCIETY
The building is a bit stark with solid brick walls and reflective film on the few windows.
The idea is a good one - provide intensive case management for prisoners prior to reintegration into the wider community. After leaving the centre, individuals are still subject to parole conditions and supervised by a community corrections officer.
The centre is named after Judy Lazarus who was the CEO of the Victorian
Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (VACRO). Thanks Judy for your enthusiasm and insight in getting this service established!
The centre is immediately adjacent to the Melbourne Assessment Prison
Its located on Adderley ST near the corner of Latrobe St in West Melbourne.
You readily access the centre by tram (Latrobe Street route 35 tourist tram) or by train (Southern Cross Station is just a few minutes walk away)
