José Zarpan

Jose is the highest quality tailor in town (I suspect in Victoria!). He will give an honest assessment and you can trust his judgment. If it can be done well, he will deliver. Just as importantly he will say if it won’t work. He does it all with a smile and charm.

José has been my go-to alterations guy for around 6 years, both personally and for my Menswear business. He’s extremely knowledgeable and is one of the few tailors left who can work on high-end handmade garments.

He’s honest, too. Will openly admit when he can’t do a job or if he’s not satisfied with his own work.

I would highly recommend José for any alterations job, whether a simple hem or full suit reconstruction.

José did an incredible job of altering my skirt. So efficient and precise, and such a lovely man! Will definitely return.

Jose is the main tailor I use in Melbourne. He has made me a pair of trousers with double forward pleats and hand-stitched details with some fabric (Minnis Fresco) that I supplied to him. They came out very nicely (i will attach photos at a later date) and I intend to have him make other things for me in the future.

He is also currently making a pair for my girlfriend as well, due to be completed this month.

One thing I would like to highlight here is that Jose cuts your pattern and makes your order all by himself.

Jose is awesome at pressing - particularly jackets. I don't go anywhere else to get my jacket pressed.

I have also used Jose for minor alterations, but he can also do major ones such as complicated jacket armhole adjustments etc.

As another reviewer said, he is a lovely guy. Always enjoy popping in to see him.

Jose is very skilled at his craft. My dream wedding dress required significant alterations and Jose did a magnificent job. With lockdown in Melbourne lifting just recently, there wasn't a huge amount of time to have my dress altered prior to the wedding. Jose worked tirelessly to alter it by hand. Thank you Jose, I feel stunning in my beautifully fitting dress.

While having my dress altered I saw a number of ladies coats hand made by Jose. They are unique, only one of each design exists and I could not resist the temptation to buy my favourite 3. I will be the envy of all my friends!

Now that I have come to know Jose's work, I intend to visit for all my tailoring needs. No doubt I'll see you again soon Jose.   All the best in the meantime.

I have been going to Jose for a few years now. He is just fabulous. I highly recommend him!

Wow, just wow. It has taken me too long to write this review, as José deserves all of the praise. He met with me 5 months before my wedding and tailored my dress to perfection- including a 2nd skirt that I decided to throw in there towards the end. In addition to everything he did for me- one of the guests needed a last minute alteration 2 days pre-wedding and he fit her in and gave her another perfect piece. She said to me prior to leaving- “you know you’ve made it in life when you have the phone number to an incredible tailor. ” As much as I used him to alter pieces I already had- he also makes pieces from scratch that are absolutely stunning. I hope to one day come back to have items hand made in my wardrobe.

Never fails to impress me as to how he can make anything fit me perfectly! And such a lovely lovely man too.
