Love the ice kacangs…Malaysian dishes are nice as well. Very friendly hosts! Malaysian hospitality!

Had lunch with my friends recently at Jonker street.

This restaurant has been a local hot spot since opening in 2016.  Seven years on and it’s still going strong with a second branch now in Mount Waverly.  The portion servings are generous, great for group gatherings.  My all-time faves and highly recommend dishes are the vegemite chicken ribs, yam ring, bean curd & chicken rice with chilli sauce,  lobak.

I know what you’re thinking - vegemite? Its actually a real Malaysian dish, however in Malaysia they use Marmite so the dish has been adapted with using Vegemite in Australia. Its sweet & salty flavour with that tinge of vegemite.  Its not overpowering and is very tasty. Goes well with steamed rice.

The yam ring is usually a dish made for lunar new year. Also known as prosperity (taro) basket. Its deep fried ring of mashed taro filled with meat & vegetables of your choice. We picked Sweet & Sour pork and omg so soo delicious

The home made chilli sauce has a really great kick and goes so well with the popular steamed chicken rice! The chicken is very tender and silky smooth with fragrant ginger garlic rice.

The soft bean curd with mince meat on sizzling plate is a fave go-to especially with my family. Very tasty and comforting. The salted egg prawns is a must order if you love prawns. The salted egg is flavourful Just a lotta work bcoz you gotta de-shell the prawns!

The CKT was not bad just a bit too oily for my liking. The Lobak is very tasty with lots of filling inside.  The Kuih Dadar pandan crepe was a great way to end the meal. Filled with grated coconut & palm sugar.  Its so soo good!

Had laksa, char key teow and crispy noodle. Horrible taste. The worst we have ever had. Don't let the pictures of the actual Jonker Street deceive you. Wanted some chilly sauce to add flavour to the tastless dishes to be told rudely that we have to pay for them.

The lovely owner took our order and she was so kind and such a jokster while we waited for our food. She was such a fun person to be around and talked to us the whole time. The food and drinks were amazing and I would recommend the Salt and Pepper Chicken Ribs. Sure to come back with the rest of the family. Grandma would love talking to her since she seems to speak a variety of languages.

Had takeaway last night. Price was exorbitant and food tasted old and reheated. No way it was fresh. Nearly $200 for 5 dishes in plastic containers that were filled only to the quarter mark at best. Worst Asian takeaway I’ve ever had. Will never ever buy from there again. Feel totally ripped off.

Always great food, and good lively service. Not only do you get good Malaysian food, but Malaysian atmosphere.

Called to order takeaway and my my my, I felt like I was being reprimanded for trying to buy food from them. It’s almost like I had to beg them to take my order. Asked if they sell Hainan chicken, got replied with “Hainan chicken rice”. I said yes I know, I am wondering if you sell the chicken only, and the person taking orders kept repeating herself “Hainan chicken rice”. I had to rephrase my question so many times, chicken only, chicken itself, chicken no rice? How about the WHOLE chicken only? Finally phone got passed to a lady and it’s downhill from there. Impatient, cocky, loud voice, even felt like she was leaning towards being angry at me.

Food is decent, not great, and I wouldn’t go to Jonker Street again for the food as I know so many more better Malaysian restaurants around and I certainly don’t want to feel like I got reprimanded by anyone for ordering food from a restaurant either.

Salted fish with pork were actually quite traditional old country flavours most definitely recommended.

Butter prawns were semi disappointed not good with the seasoning probably frozen prawns.

Four season vege were also quite watery sambal also same problem seasoning is also not on point.

Imperial sauce with barramundi sauce and seasonings are decent, very shallow fried fish weren't crispy enough but not bad.

Been a while since my last visit but after tonight I won't be visiting again. Ordered Hainanese Roast chicken on rice based on the picture on the menu (with cucumber slices and a bowl of chicken soup), but I got none of these, just some roast chicken and some sad bean sprouts with rice, no soup. Don't know if it's forgotten or something but I didn't bother to ask. Two staff there tonight seemed to be welcoming but somewhat aggressive.

Tasty, quick and cheap hawker style Asian food. Clean and busy lunchtime atmosphere. What more could you really expect?

Great service by the 2 sisters and all the staff. Food is really good, we are vegetarian and they catered for us. Their sizzling tofu is the best.

Horrible customer service. The restaurant was only half full when we walked in and were offered a table straight away which was great. However as soon as we told them 3 of our group would arrive in 10 minutes, we were kicked out of the restaurant just because we couldn’t place order right away. Seriously? !
No second chance. Will never come back…

Service was very Slow. (1) Shortage of Waitering Staff, (2) Restaurant too Small and Not enough tables, (3) Not Enough Cooks and Kitchen hands or people working the kitchen, (4) Worst of All was the Toilet to be shared with people with Disabilities are Full of Chairs inside and No Yoklet Papers. ***
Hope the Restaurant Owners will rectified these, B4 the Council Health Department Inspectors Come.

Went here tonight and was extremely impressed. Amazing food and fantastic customer service. Can not wait to come back.

Fantastic food great service. Our only regret was we live in Queensland so visits will not be frequent.

I love the pork noodle soup. The taste is authentic and wonderful. Definitely will back to order again. Other than that, nasi lemak is good but still hv room for improvement on fried chicken wing.

Amazing food and customer service. We always take away from Jonker Street. Nasi lemak is our go to and fish is amazing too.

The food in this place brings back so many great memories of the food in Singapore and Malaysia. I haven’t come across this quality for these types of foods anywhere else in Australia. Awesome service too, great people!

Definitely a good restaurant for authentic Malaysian cuisine. Generous serves and I love the spice levels. Highly recommended.

The nasi lemak is excellent! The sambal was superb. Perfect in every way. It's reputation has met my expectations.
