A bit disappointed in this place. When we arrived I read the history of the Jones family's involvement in the development of the winery which was displayed inside the cellar door, and thought it was a lovely story. Also noted that the current owners and winemakers, Arthur and Mandy, were conducting the tastings, which I thought boded well for an enjoyable and informative tasting.

On taking our seats we were served initially by Arthur, who, it has to be said, doesn't present as the friendliest cellar door host I've come across. He would pour a taste, recite the blurb about the wine, then walk away. Mandy was much the same, which, given she is the winemaker, was really disappointing. I tried to engage her in conversation about the history of the winery and she just wasn't interested.

And unfortunately, the wines just aren't very good. Some are OK, and a couple were pretty ordinary. They are far, far from being standout wines in the Rutherglen area. We had initially opted for the $20 tasting, which would have given us tastings across their entry level plus their premium wines. After making our way almost through the entry levels and being pretty disappointed in both the tasting experience and in the quality of the wines, we decided against paying the extra to sample the premium range. So these comments don't reflect that range.

But all in all, a pretty disappointing cellar door experience.

First time here and the venue was lovely. We had reserved a table for lunch, it was laid out beautifully. Lunch arrived.the 2 serves of roast potatoes were so tough, we all had trouble cutting them. They'd been sitting there for a long time to be like that and/or, reheated. Definitely not freshly roasted. 2 of us had the "fish of the day", it was overcooked, dry, no moisture in it whatsoever. The meals aren't cheap but we knew that.but, so disappointed in what was served

Food was amazing, service left a lot to be desired especially since we were on our honeymoon and were pretty much ignored. Considering everyone recommends this for food it was a disappointing experience.

Rude, unhelpful staff, outrageously overpriced. We were a group of 10 wine lovers. We booked the wine and food experience for $20 per person in anticipation of a special experience. The two wines we tasted were good and the two mice sized canapes were good but the experience is exorbitant. Compared to other local wineries which charge $5 for a proper wine tasting experience, we felt fleeced. Worse, the staff member who served our food and drink was so miserable, rude and unpleasant, not one of us was prepared to try any other wines (for another $10 each) or make a purchase. The winery might be a great place for expensive dining, but their wine tasting experience was a rip-off and inhospitable due to the rude, unhelpful staff member. If you are looking for friendly service - go somewhere else.

What a special place. Fabulous food, a friendly welcome and superb wines. Jones is a true family business, with a long history in Rutherglen. Don’t miss it. You can even stay over in their tiny house in the vines! Thanks Mandy, Arthur, chef Briony and your fab team.

What a nice and beautiful place for food and wine! When you can interact and be welcomed by the business owners, Mandy and Arthur you know you are in a special place where passion and authenticity is not the rule but the norm. The Chef Briony is an artist and the all team is warm and attentive. Bravo! We will definitely be back when around Victoria.

Fabulous food and wine in a beautiful part of the country. Well worth a visit to Jones Winery - they know what they're doing.

The food here is incredibly good - every dish we tried would sit comfortably with the hatted restaurants I've had the pleasure of eating in over the years, without the price tag. My partner and I had a 3 course lunch (without wine pairing, though that looked tempting). Each course was flawless. Particular highlights were the goat shoulder with peach, and the frangiapane and pea dessert which was sublime. The decor and the service are pretty relaxed, but the food and wine are well worth a trip from Melbourne.

First time dining here, and absolutely loved it! Fabulous dining experience deserving of a high Chef's Hat rating and well worth a journey from Melbourne! Got to try several of the entrees and mains, and all were winners. Loved the fine touch and magnificent sauces that elevated each dish to another level. For our meal, pick of the mains was the Duck Leg Ballotine. Dishes featured innovative use of produce like mulberry, kiwifruit, hazelnut, blueberry to create flavours that interest and match. Make sure you go for the desserts too, they were superb. Just look at my pics - Sugar snap pea and fennel in a dessert, who would have thought, and so delicious! Dined with my elderly mother and she loved it (thanks for fitting us in for inside seating!). PS. Make sure to book ahead

We enjoyed our wine tasting very much My husband especially as he bought some 2012 Shiraz! We checked out the cellar door menu which honestly looked lovely, didn’t stay for lunch this time but will next visit. A dog friendly Cellar Door too which our Whippet loved

Greeting was poor, unorganised & assuming.
Wait staff poorly trained, food lacked in quality & portion compared to other local wineries.
We booked for 6 courses & left the third course on our plates after the 1st mouthful. Bland, uninteresting & way overpriced for the quality we experienced. We won't be going back.

Had lunch at Jones Winery a couple of weeks ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service was lovely and there was a good vibe with the staff where they were just happy.

The food is delicious and well presented. I felt the portion sizes were fair and I left feeling satisfied.

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is friendly and welcoming. The winery is also dog friendly and that's a win in my books. I will be returning to Jones Winery when I visit the region again.

Lovely family run cellar door and restaurant. Arthur was fab on the cellar door. Service was a bit leisurely, so make sure you have time to enjoy. We left full, happy and with armfuls of wine.

A bit disappointing really. We paid for the wine tasting (6 glasses for $10) but received very little explanation of any of the wines. As one of the biggest wineries in the region we expected better. They get all the promotion online but didn’t match expectations.
