I was surprised to see some one star reviews. I give this place a solid 5 stars. Tasting was great, food was great (yum) and timely. Service was EXCEPTIONAL - we interacted with 3 staff members, all of which were cheerful and helpful. This was on a public holiday, no less. Thanks for the great afternoon, and we'll be back!

JimmyRum is fantastic we walked away feeling like we’d been at a friends house, lots of things for the kids to do great kids menu. The cocktail and Rum is amazing and very extensive the food is perfect as well.
The service was out of this world I don’t remember being to somewhere that the servers where so attentive and chatted like old friends, we’ve found our new regular place that we’ll happily take the kids and everyone will come away happy

Love this place! Popped in today, with no booking, straight in, (time we were leaving was getting busy) service was awesome, friendly staff, food was perfect, drinks, even if you are not a rum drinker they have you covered.

Did a rum tasting - the instructor was really informative and was really nice. The food and drinks are a bit pricey but the rum tasting was really good value. Waffle fries were top notch!

BEST RUM TASTING EVER. I’ve done the Beenleigh and Bundaberg rum tastings and tours, and this was by far the best. My partner and I went to Jimmy Rum on a Monday afternoon after booking last minute. For $15 pp, we tried 6 rums and stayed for an hour learning all about the distillery process and easily could’ve stayed chatting and learning for an hour more. Great jokes too. 10/10, would absolutely do it again.

Jimmy Rum is a craft rum distillery located in the industrial district of Dromana. Their main aim is to change the way you think about rum and it definitely changed ours.

Our group walked in late afternoon without a booking, there were many tables available in their outdoor area. Every cocktail was a hit, and considering most of us weren’t rum drinkers this was impressive.

Highly recommend the Bananana Suprised, Red Rum, Espresso Martini and Pinot Colada. They also have a small food menu, we ordered the flatbread to share, which was so nice we ordered another?

An elite spot for cocktails especially on a nice day. Family and pet friendly! Staff are very laid back however if you don’t enjoy some gentle bullying you might find them a little offensive.

I’m at a loss for words. Chris at Foxey’s recommended this to us. OMG. The Distiller’s Specials tasting paddle is a masterclass in the rich art of rum distilling. The food! A simple salad is infused with perfect flavours of mint, dill, crunchy green tomatoes. The kingfish ceviche is a lesson in how simplicity and freshness can triumph. Try it! OTOH maybe its the rum talking!

Very friendly staff. Good drinks, I had a mulled wine and it was perfect for the cold winters day. Fun atmosphere. Will be going back!

Came to JimmyRum as part of a tour from Grape Explorations Australia. Matt took us through a tasting of all the different rums and he was great. 10/10 recommend to everyone and will definitely be back.

Thanks for your feedback to my original review James. I have had some time to think it over and I am more than happy to revise it for you, so here you go!

Upon arrival my friends and I were greeted with friendly, smiling faces. We were shown to our table and began ordering food and drinks, all was well and we thought we were going to have a wonderful night celebrating our friends birthday, boy were we wrong.

Not long after being seated, a staff member, who I believe is the manager? (James, I’m sure you can clear this up for me?) approached the table to inform us that we were being too loud and could be heard from the other side of the venue. Of course we took her word for it and tried to lower our voices.

Not long after this we were approached by a different staff member, who politely told us we were being too loud and that she was asked to come and tell us to be quiet. By this point we were confused as we felt our volume was at a reasonable level.

Some more time had passed and we were approached a third time and told we were on our “last warning”. While there was the occasional loud voice or celebration (keep in mind their was 30 of us) we weren’t yelling/screaming or even dancing and singing, we were sitting at the table eating and drinking, some people were even playing uno so we weren’t an overly rowdy bunch… We have been to plenty of venues before, for other birthdays and celebrations and have never been told our volume is too loud or our behaviour is inappropriate, so you can imagine this interaction was quite confusing for all of us.

Not long after our “last warning”, my girlfriends returned from the bathroom and appeared quite distressed, when I asked them what was wrong, they informed me that a man (who we later found out was the owner “James”) had approached them in the toilet while they were doing their makeup, stood there watching while they did so, they were then told by this strange man (who did not identify himself as the owner until much later in the night), that they need to “move along” because it was a “family venue”. This comment, understandably, made them extremely uncomfortable and a bathroom wasn’t the appropriate setting for a middle aged man to be approaching young women.

By this point, as a group we were becoming increasingly disappointed by the obvious discontent with our presence in the venue by particular staff members. A few of us entered the main area of the venue where the bar was located and began discussing why we were being treated like we were not welcome (after all, they had accepted a booking for 30 people). As these discussions were happening, we noticed a man (James the owner) standing to the side snickering and shaking his head.

My friend (who he had approached in the bathroom) decided to question his behaviour, questioning why the presence of a young woman in the toilet fixing her makeup is not appropriate for a “family venue”. I stood back in disbelief and watched this situation unfold, as his response was abrupt and demeaning. My friend became increasingly frustrated as this grown man spoke down to her, telling her “I’ll give you three seconds to pull your head in”.

It was then mutually decided by James’ and my friends, that it was time for us to leave, so, we left and went home and drank for free and Jimmy Rum missed out on a night of 30 paying customers!

James, I wish you all the best! I’m not sure why you decided to make unfair assumptions about my friends and I. No one is perfect, and I cannot speak to everyone’s behaviour that night, but, for some feedback, a little bit of kindness would go a long way!

How dare this place be so good and so far from Melbourne. Its probably for the best as I might be tempted to visit a bit too much. Fabulous and knowledgeable staff who love their craft. The tasting is great fun, and the food offered is great local fare. Loved the Thursday trivia as well!

It was the best tasting we have ever had. Matt went through everything from the journey to make rum to how to drink it. We have experienced many tastings before but nothing has ever matched the experience we had here. Would highly recommend to anyone, even those who do not enjoy rum as you may change your mind after you enjoy a day out at jimmyrum

Jimmy (James) is a man doing everything to prove that rum and "cane spirit" are the next big thing. I went in to try two of the spirit paddles and I was impressed. Jimmy personally took us through a tasting of his varied and imaginative spirits and I'm looking forward to future releases.
He makes great products that are worth the awards he's won for them. He and the team deliver a great service, and Jimmy even provides a rum history lesson to boot.

Best rum bar ever! The owner James is a legend and Steph went above and beyond. Our taxi kept canceling on us and she drove us to our next venue herself. Customer service is 11/10. Get this girl a raise.

We booked a table for 8 on a cold wet Saturday, for my birthday lunch. The staff were happy and attentive and very knowledgeable about the products. The food and drinks were AWESOME.

Cozy bar with good pizzas. Watermelon sour is delicious! There’s a nice outdoor area with beanbags to laze on a Summers day, with plenty of room for kids to run around. In winter, the indoor area has big leather couches, overhead heaters and had a solo guitarist who was great.

We had a great time at Jimmy Rum Distillery on the weekend. The drinks were tasty and the food was great. Looking forward to going back.
