Jimmy O'Neills Whiskey & Alehouse

Absolutely disgusting and rude. I stood at the bar for over 5 minutes to order a drink and was just overlooked the whole time. Others approached the bar well after me and was served immediately. It wasn't busy and it was like I was invisible. Maybe as a 62 year old I didn't fit the pubs image. I will spend my money elsewhere. If I could have rated the service as zero I would have but it doesn't allow.

I am DISGUSTED with the treatment of the staff here by the manager/boss of this establishment.
Myself and my friends all attended Jimmy O' Neill's for the Dermot Kennedy pop up concert. We were all so excited for this event and could see all the staff working extra hard as it was a very busy and stressful environment for this high profile event, which the managers of Jimmy O' Neill's should be considering themselves lucky to host.

The staff went above and beyond for everyone. There was a large number of people attending this event and the staff had many people shouting their drinks order etc at them. They all dealt with it so well and did the most to get everyone out their drinks and to make sure everyone paid.
We then are able to both see and hear the manager screaming at the staff to stop playing music (once Dermot Kennedy had finished) amongst many other things she was shouting about. The way she spoke to her staff was HORRIFYING to say the least. She degraded her staff who were clearly run off their feet. She embarrassed them in front of customers, as this screaming was heard all around the pub, and she is ungrateful towards the work they were doing and the pressure they were under.

I can't praise the staff enough for the work they did for everyone tonight and the top service they provided. The boss of this establishment wouldn't have the place running to the standard it is only for the staff she is currently employing. She is lucky to have them and clearly doesn't appreciate it or respect her staff.

I have been to Jimmy O' Neill's a number of times and I have returned due to the level of service and attention provided to me and my friends. The staff are all beyond lovely and most of them are Irish, which provides a lovely feel to the place. However, after seeing how they are all actually treated tonight, I wont be returning. The manager of Jimmy O' Neill's does not deserve my business.
I wish all the lovely bar staff there the very best.

We went on Irish night, which is a Thursday. As a result, there was live Irish music, which added to the amazing atmosphere. Lots of Irish people here so you know it’s authentic. We didn’t have any food but the Guinness was good.

Ordered the 4in1 best dish I have had from Jimmys followed by great service from the bar staff and manager. Always friendly and go out their way to accommodate customers.

Went here for the spice bag. It was INCREDIBLE! Fresh out the fryer, fries and chicken perfectly crispy, onions grilled and caramelised, peppers nice and smoky, seasoning on point! The curry sauce was absolutely delicious too and the portion was more than generous! Would definitely come back!

Left my phone in bar and quick acting and considerate bar lady ran down the road to return. Exceptional customer service & saved me a night of woe. 5 stars

We were down for the Melbourne sevens and as good as the pub is, nothing will ever beat the bouncer Sam maguire (silver fox). All jokes aside he made our weekend and we cannot wait to get back to him again! Ps. Next time we hope Sam is coming home again #absolutelyairlocked

My daughter booked a table for my birthday, got there and no tables available, they told us the only available spot was at the bar. We didn’t fancy eating our dinner at the bar so we left. Pretty disappointing to be honest we were looking forward to a feed and a few pints of Guinness.

As a hospo worker, i’m very disappointed. I convinced my friends to come down here because its our only day off and once we get there we get couple of shots and then we were denied drinks because we had couple round in a row which we understand you gotta respect the RSA. But then we were asked to leave because apparently the girl in the bar said you guys are not buying food so you need to leave! We were shocked that first we can’t but drinks and then we have to leave because apparently we not buying food? I’ve never experience such thing like that before. They didn’t even gave us a chance to be there long enough to get more drinks or food. Pretty sure lady behind the bar was having a bad day and it was little bit busy but thats not an excuse to turn away your customers. VERY DISSAPPOINTED.

This is a hidden little gem on Acland Street.
Staff was amazing, great vibe and amazing energy throughout! Good prices and delicious food!

Already look forward to next time:)

Great wee pub offering a range of foods suited to our Scottish taste buds. The big breakfast was spot on and the friendly service was well received. I’ll definitely be back for dinner soon.

I was in this venue recently on Saturday 12 Feb with my husband. What a lovely picturesque Irish bar. The staff that were on duty were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel at ease as we sat at the bar. The three members on duty had a great connection and banter with each other, which is lovely to see in such a hard time to work in hospitality, if only I was younger I would be looking for a job here. The food looked amazing and we will be returning again to sample as we were rushing on the day.

Amazing atmosphere, but if at all concerned with covid steer clear. Yet to see a staff member correctly wear a mask (a lot of safe chins though), not checking anyone walking in and letting people walk in without wearing a mask and linger, plus tables not cleaned down between sittings.

Delicious food! It takes a lot to impress me with food. But the tastes and flavours were really good.

Nice little bar for a quick quiet drink at the end of the tram line. Looks like the place would go off later in the evening

If I could give zero stars I would.
On Tuesday 7th of December at lunch a man was working who has dyed blonde hair at the top. To start off with, he was arrogant and unfriendly throughout the whole time there.
When we ordered we sat down and faced him therefore I could see clearly what he was doing behind the bar. Throughout the whole time we were there he was wearing his mask around his chin, he was coughing, sneezing AND blowing his nose and he never once washed or sanitised his hands. I was appalled at what I was seeing. He was then using his hands to serve drinks, food and serve people (including ours) Fast forward a day later my partner and I are BOTH sick! We have had to have the last few days off work we have been that sick. I purely wouldn't of come back because of his bad attitude and people skills but to see someone be so unhygienic that has caused their patrons to be sick he should not be working in hospo if he cannot follow personal hygiene. I am so disgusted and mortified.

Great live music, great night & great staff (Emma & Leona). Can't beat a night in Jimmy's. Crisp sandwiches served on request.

A quick beer out on our long long walk on a beautiful morning. The beer was long and cold. It hit the spot very nicely. The staff seemed good here. Nice outdoor spot out on the street too. It works.
