Jimmy Buttons reviews
22 Old school shop, old school experience. The front doesn't even look like a shop at all, and the interior can be very overwhelming. The owner can be outspoken, but not more or less than any average human. Just behave like a normal down to earth person too, and I can't see any issues arising.
All that aside, one truly has to appreciate that a shop like this still exists. If you take your time, you find everything here, in the exact shape, size, material or colour you require. No other physical shop that I know of offers this; you're typically dependent on online shops where you are forced to order larger quantities than you require and pay shipping costs on top of all that.
Final word of warning: the owner strongly prefers cash payment, especially for small amounts. They were kind enough to allow me to pay electronically regardless, because I didn't have cash on me. I'd be happy enough to bring cash next time.
In summary, from a pragmatic point of view, this is a gem. Don't expect special treatment nor the sterile environment of a "modern" shop, but you're almost guaranteed to walk out with exactly the things you need at a sensible price.
Throughly an unpleasant experience from start to finish. Shelves unorganised making it difficult to find what you are looking for. Owners arguing loudly, swearing at each other and yelling across the store.
When I finally got service at the counter and tried to pay on card for my $9.50 purchase. The owner (Jimmy) yelled at me for spending less than $20, claiming that the store requires purchases to be over $20 on card. He then blamed customers who pay on card for the reason his business is failing…….
Would not recommend, go to drapers or the fabric store on Brunswick street, and darn cheep fabrics on smith street for better service and quality trims.
So helpful and even with the most wonderful selection of you can’t find what you are looking for Jimmy will come to the rescue
When you first walk in, you can be almost overwhelmed by the sheer variety of buttons available. Fortunately, assistance is not far away. With a little help, you can quickly find whatever you’re looking for. There is a minimum of $20 for credit card purchases, so be sure to bring cash if you’re not intending to buy a lot of buttons.
Amazing. Tricky to find but a creatives Aladdin cave of treasures and trims! Found everything I was looking for and better than hoped for. At a great price. And great, really helpful and patient service. So glad I found it. 10 star.
What a collection! Jimmy Buttons is certainly an amazing maze of all forms of hardware, trims, attachments and closures. It has a small entrance and can feel a bit tight but for the amount of stock it has, it's quite a bit store.
Some of the hardware is very pricy. The same things can be bought at other stores for much less but majority of it is really good and the quality is amazing.
Jimmy Buttons is a great hidden gem. Highly recommend if you're having trouble finding something in other stores.
Paradise,
This shop is a pure Gem. I didn't see Jimmy today, but his fabulous sister Dezzy.
She helped me finding my special request. Original, modern unique and chic buttons!
Don't worry you can find every styles, shapes, sizes and colours. Paradise.
But it's as well a fantastic Haberdashery.
Drove 30 k. And I wasn't disappointed! I will be back.and merci again️️️
Don't be surprised like me by the entrance. I thought it was closed Lucky I called the number on the big blue garage door And yes It was the right entrance (little grey door on the left side) and it was open! Bring some cadh. Better then using credit card if you can!
I went back and met The Jimmy! Never again! Absolutely unbelievably crazy and rude.
Jimmy treats you like a friend he has a heart of gold creative and fun knowledgeable and gives you the time of day! Thanks Jimmy the world needs more creative fun people like you!
What an amazing treasure trove of a store! Jimmy is absolutely fantastic. He has an incredible supply of everything you could ever dream of including piping, buttons and trims. On top of that he has an amazing eye and was so helpful in picking out the exact buttons for my projects. Can't wait to go back! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Jimmi Buttons is a place of haberdashery including craft material, buttons, diamontees and anything what you are dreaming off to create fashionable outfits.
Highly recommend a visit, yoh will not be disappointed
Super rude owner, doing such things as openly admonishing a customer because they had a (small) backpack on and it was to hard to get past, really Jimmy? Your shop is a borderline safety hazard with shelves collapsing into isles and you are complaining to a customer about their backpack? Barely anything is priced, and Jimmy complains if you don't bring cash. I've been here about 4-5 times and hated it each occasion. I wont be back.
An Aladdin's cave of treasures. Jimmy always finds the right buttons or trim for my makes. It is one of my favourite places.
Jimmy Buttons is the best for pimping your costumes! Jimmy is very eccentric & an absolute legend!
What a sensational find for me. Buttons are a big part of my making platform and WOW did I strike the button jackpot with this gem of a place. Yay Jimmy. Thanks for the magic.
Consistently good service from Jimmy who will always go the extra distance to source quality trims including these matte gold belt trims that I had made into this belt.
Best place for buttons, fasteners and associated bits. I recommend a visit to see the diverse range.
This is one of those shoppes. Hidden behind a single door entrance down a side street. The entrance corridor is lined with shelves of boxes of buttons. Into the main part of the shop, there are several Isles of zips, cords, wigs and tassles. I love this place.
Amazing range of buttons, beads, trims and elastics so much more than than the website can show, it's like an Aladdin's Cave of stock.
Helen was a great pleasure to deal with when I arrived ill prepared and helped as much as she could with helping me find what I needed
Every trim, button, lace, fur and everything in between that one might need. Tiaras, feathers, ear rings, studs. Our 6 yo was mesmerized and found it to be a treasure trove, running up to me to point out all the 'goldie things' and 'colorful ribbons' complete with multi colored pompoms.
Will need a guide to look for things but generally well run.
Old school business with great service from a friendly owner. Highly recommended for buttons and similar accessories.
Maybe we got Jimmy on a bad day, but he was downright rude! We laughed it off because we were shocked, but on reflection I wouldn’t go back. There is an amazing array of trims but not so much with the buttons which are in a narrow sort of corridor along one side of the shop. Jimmy appeared next to me while I was choosing buttons and I asked him if he wanted to get passed us. His response was surprisingly aggressive. Then when I took the containers of buttons to the counter to buy a few of each, he was furious that I hadn’t put each selection into little snap lock bags because he apparently he didn’t want put all the containers back! I don’t know how you’re supposed to know that because no one came near us while we were making our selection. I put all the containers back happily after my buttons were removed, and I don’t know how the woman behind the desk would have known each individual cost if I hadn’t provided them as they were all different. It was really bizarre!
