Jang go mama (장꼬마마)

I ordered Jinmicae kimbap, tuna kimbap, and jjolmyeon, and it was the most delicious I've ever had in Melbourne. It was made quickly, so it was still warm and savory, and there was a large egg omelette in it. The amount of rice was just right, and the rest of the kimbap was full of ingredients. The Jinmicae was not too hard and was soft. It was easy to eat, and the chewy noodles went really well with the sweet and sour kimbap. The sauce was especially delicious

Food is consistently good, very cute and cozy vibes with a lovely Korean ahjumma who makes the best gimbaps. Staff very friendly too!

Cosy little joint run by a Korean family, who were nice and friendly. I had their naengmyeon, which is a vegetarian cold soup with chewy buckwheat noodles, kimchi, cucumber slices, nashi pear and boiled egg. It was the first time I had it and it was delightfully light and refreshing! Will be back!

Really nice gimbap filled to the brim with tasty combinations. We tried the spicy chicken, spicy beef, beef and basic. My favourite was the spicy beef. Paired with a side of kimchi. Service was really good too. Seats are limited though but takeout is available.

Delicious flavoursome freshly rolled kimbap. Kimbap is filled with generous amount of ingredients and has a nice sesame oil coating to it. I like that they all have egg, crab stick, ham and pickles so no matter what flavour you get, it’ll be guaranteed meaty and tangy. And the kimbap slicing machine is cool.

So hard to find authentic homemade gimpap! So fresh and delicious. The owners are are such lovely people and always friendly.

I can say it has the best gimbab in Melbourne! My favorite is the spicy fish cake. The atmosphere is just like a street food stall in Korea.

Really cozy gimbap place. Gimbap is freshly made upon order and the ahjumma is super friendly! The takoyaki and crispy dumplings are worth a try too! And the fishcake soup is great for cold days

Originally i thought it's a bit expensive for kimbap, but i'm surprised at how massive the serving size is.i already feel so full after eating just half.service is fast and the lady who makes it is very friendly as well! I can't wait to come back again and try different variations~

Warm and friendly local restaurant. Delicious dishes. Highly recommend the gimbap - mine was served warm, freshly made and I'll be going back to try all the other flavours.

A homie spot for the best gimbap in Melbourne so far. The spicy pork gimbap was so on point with spicyness and flavourful. Jang go mama tteok was yum! We really liked the sauce (spicy, sweet and salty). I would not recommend ordering the crispy prawns, better order another gimbap!

If you know, you know. This is the best kept hole in the wall homely korean restaurant in town. The lady running the show is lovely people and a mean cook.

You can find popular foods outside of bbq fare as well as lesser known korean meals that are totally worth the adventure.

Expect elbow rubbing in this cosy estery, not for big groups but bring your darlings one by one and convert them to hidden korean cuisines.

In an era where most places are chasing speed, cost and modern decor, the couple running Jang go mama is all about authentic, hearty food full of character. Bibimbap is good, pancake is better, soup is out of this world

It's a small family busienss by a korean couple so don't expect fancy experience
The atmosphere is pretty humble but I like the family feel as watching the couple prepare and serve the meal. Love the pancake, tasty and crispy as it should be but not all chefs do it right like this one! The only dislike is price of dishes is relatively expensive compared to other Korean places in city but it passed for the authentic food:)

TLDR: kimchi cream prawn was amazing, other dishes ok, service average, slightly expensive for the average lunch

Full review: lunch out with friends. There was one man who took orders, looked after the cash register and served food all by himself. However, it was a small place and it wasn't super busy so it was manageable. We had 4 sets of plates and cutlery but had to ask twice for the 4th cup. The kimchi cream prawn was a real standout dish. I will probably return just to eat this. The other dishes did not particularly impress me but caveat that, though I don't dislike Korean, it's also not a favourite.

Amazing shop authentic Korean, similar to what I’ve had at home (feels and tastes like my mum cooked for me) really kind customer service

Rude owner. Your customers were having a good time, eating and laughing. This is a good sign but owner decided to come shut us up. Won’t be coming back again

Absolutely delicious food, however I did find a small piece of plastic in one of the meals. I’m sure it was a one off issue, definitely recommend if in the area!
