We have stayed here many times and we just love it! The owners have great communication and are very thoughtful. Ironbarks has everything you could need. Including a veggie garden to use and all the right tools to cook delicious meals using the fresh produce. The warm fire on arrival is amazing. It is very well presented and feels like a home away from home. Thank you again for having us

Fantastic outing for a group of 6. Well equipped kitchen and firewood for heating as well as electric heating in bedrooms. We enjoyed picking a variety of fresh vegetables from the garden for our meals. And our dogs enjoyed running around the property!

Decent place with a cool fireplace and pretty spacious. It's about 45 minutes from Bendigo but there's closer shops at Dunolly.

The data connection can be also be a bit spotty but you can still get connection so it's not too bad. (Better if you're on Telstra.)

Nice clean farm stay. Great for families with kids. Great in winter having the wood burning stove cranking, and always plenty of wood. Summer is another story. There is aircon in the main living room which is very effective, but there are only fans in the bedroooms and when it is oppressively hot sleep won't come easily.

Arriving late on a Friday night to a roaring fire was the best welcome you could have. Ironbarks is fantastic and we all loved the property. Our kids were kept busy with the 'treasure hunt', swinging in the hammock and playing on the impressive swing set. The house is gorgeous and, most importantly, the kitchen has everything a good cook needs. Not sure what we enjoyed more - exploring the property or spending time at wineries & clambering around the rocks at Melville's Caves. We will be back!

Loved it! We had a fabulous weekend in the serenity and beauty of Ironbarks. The house was immaculate, and every effort had clearly been made to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. We will certainly be returning soon, and telling all our friends.

I have been needing to "get away from it all" for some time

This is the place to do that

The weather was beautiful, the house comfortable with everything you would need, including a well stocked library

I didn't see another person all weekend

Perfect

We had such a wonderful time at Ironbarks. The house is amazing and we didn't leave the property the whole time we were there. I think my boys may have walked every inch of the 100 acres - they were captivated by the old tree house and were up, dressed and out searching for kangaroos with the sun each morning. I especially loved the kiwi CDs - a little bit of home among the gum trees. Thanks so much - we'll be back for yabbying for sure!

My family and I had a FANTASTIC time here again! Cant wait to get back there. A truly relaxing holiday where the kids can be kids and go and explore the great outdoors. They were outside most of the time doing what kids do. My son loved catching yabbies, we loved the night walks and the early morning walks. Managed to spot kangaroos, rabbits.
The house is lovely. Has a fantastic fire place, the beds are comfy.

What a fantastic, fun, exciting, relaxing and picturesque place. The house is gorgeous and everything inside and out is immaculate. There were 5 adults and 1 child staying for the 3 nights, we all enjoyed walking around the property exploring the 100 acres, we saw lots of wildlife including kangaroos. Relaxing by the log fire was great, listening to the cd's and having a sing a long was fun. The property was so private been at the end of the road. Beds were comfy and the rooms were spacious and warm. The best part of the stay was at night when we went outside to gaze up at the sky, it was amazing to see so many stars I'd almost forgotton how many there are, living in the city you never get to see that many. Rick and Sarah were fantastic hosts, and did everything possible for a hassle free stay. We all can't wait to go back again and have some more relaxing fun. Anne & Rod.

Awesome weekend for two families. Adults enjoyed the open fire and rural setting. Kids enjoyed slides, swings and throwing rocks in the dam.

The house is in a fantastic location - very peaceful. All the rooms are well appointed and the kitchen is well equipped.

All round - it is a fantastic place to stay for some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Ironbarks was a trip down memory lane as my husband grew up on the property -The house was beautifully set up, and the wood fire kept us lovely and warm on the cold nights. We had a great time exploring the property surrounds, especially our 3 year old, who loved the play equipment and playing 'boat races' on the dam with his dad! The toys in the childrens' bedroom were also much appreciated!
Highly recommended as a lovely quiet getaway from the city, and we hope to revisit in the future. Rick was also very helfpul with the booking and suggestions for activities/eateries etc in the area.

The photos don't do the property justice. The house was so much bigger than expected with heaps of room for the kids to enjoy. We loved the modern touches that helped keep the workload down. It was wonderful to see the kids yabbying and spending time near the dam. We definitely didn't want to leave and could have stayed another week. Thanks again. Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to taste the country life and relax.

We had a wonderful time at Ironbarks. It was perfect for the kids and we all had plenty of space, with 8 people, we needed it! The fire was marvelous and so were the views. Will definitely be coming back!

We recently had a family get-together at Ironbarks and all agreed it was a perfect place for such a function. We loved the house and the open spaces, and those energetic enough happily went on bike rides on the bush tracks near by. The area is fascinating with a lot of history and interesting walks to do. The large decking was wonderful at the end of the day to enjoy a quiet red. Judy & Jack

This property caters to all your needs. The kids couldn't believe their eyes when they woke up to see a playground outside their front door! Along with the yabbying in the dam and space, space, space, the kids were taken care of, so the adults could sit back and relax by the roaring fire. This property was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Once we had recouped our energy, we could enjoy walks around the property and the local mountain biking tracks.

Jan 13th 2012. Ironbarks is a marvellously spacious house and property. Secluded, tucked away beyond the brow of a hill it gives a sense of isolation, yet is only a few minutes from Dunolly. At their first glimpse, our boys said: " Wow! We`re coming back here! " Yes indeed. This is a real haven for peace-starved city-dwellers. The facilities in the house are absolutely first rate. Would recommend wholeheartedly to anyone else.

Our Ironbarks stay was very enjoyable, the accomodation was nothing short of excellent, very relaxing, very scenic, very secure. We found it and excellent base from which to explore the golden triangle and would have no hesitation in recommending it. Would we stay here again, YES.
