High prices and the clothes were not dry clean properly and when I asked about the service the person in charge was so rude, and his response was “the clothes never will be new anymore”

While many people come to this dry cleaners for their wedding dresses & other 'special' clothes we have been using this family-owned business to take care of our regular clothes (eg.business suits, coats, knitwear) & bedding (eg.blankets, doonas). Over the years our garments have been restored & rejuvenated into pristine condition.

Emmanuel overees all aspects of the cleaning process & his recommended resolution to a few garment mishaps has saved several favourite pieces. He has ensured that all items are presented in ideal condition with creases pressed to perfection, according to individual preferences. His ebullient presence at the counter transforms trips to the dry cleaners from a chore into a social outing.

The level of customer service here was really impressive compared to other dry cleaning places I’ve been to in the past.

Seriously the best dry cleaner in Melbourne! We travel twenty minutes to take our clothes to Irene's Dry Cleaning because we know that Emmanuel and his team will take exceptional care of our garments. We first used Irene's at the recommendation of my wedding dress maker, who advised that they will do an excellent job at a very reasonable price - and they lived up to the recommendation. We have since trusted them to clean and repair a family heirloom christening gown and were extremely happy with the results. We also use them for our regular dry cleaning and garment repairs because they are always professional and quite reasonable. We've never had an item lost or damaged in the ten or so years that we have been going there; rather, our clothes have benefited from the careful treatment that they get at Irene's. Highly recommended.

I was recommended to use Irene’s Dry Cleaning in Melbourne as a team who allegedly specialised in cleaning designer gowns.

I had sent my Maticevski gown from Canberra to Melbourne based on this dry-cleaner's 'experience'. When the dress was returned it was ruined. An independent review from Maticevski concluded that the spot treatment used by Irene's was a chemical burn. The burns had damaged the fabric and was impossible to rectify. Extensive restoration would minimise the stains however it wouldn’t remove them completely. This type of circular mark lead the inspector to believe that the cleaner had applied a spotting agent, which is evidenced by the bleed and circle shown in the pictures. Over time, or possible immediately, this area had discoloured due to the agent not being thoroughly flushed from the material prior to the dry cleaning process. Silk is sensitive to variance in PH - too high acidity would most definitely cause this area to yellow from such a treatment. The likelihood that there was staining in this area, and the yellowing resulting from treatment is the chemical residue from spot cleaning.

After discussions with Irene’s Dry Cleaning, Emmanuel took no responsibility nor offered any compensation. The value of my dress was $1,500. I would never recommend this dry cleaner to anyone.

My 16yo son took in his new school uniform pants to have the hem taken up. He was advised at the shop to have them taken in as well as taken up and told, "It will cost a little bit extra, but they'll look better. " My naive teen agreed. He collected them a few days later and paid the total cost of $90! The alterations cost twice the amount of the school pants, not to mention they're now too tight.

I know my son agreed based on the premise it would "cost a little bit extra", but a decent business person would have been upfront and transparent about the cost. He was a teenager, exercising a bit of independence by taking them down himself to be hemmed up as requested by his parents, but was convinced that more work needed to be done to make them "look better. "

The person my husband spoke to when he complained did not apologise, but consistently stated that they needed to be taken in. When we said that we could have purchased two more pairs of school pants for the cost of the alterations we were told, "But you'd still have the same problem. " Perhaps so, but we still would not have spent $90 to have them altered.

I could have taken them down the road to the new alterations business on Bay Street and saved $75, which is definitely what I'll be doing in future.

Very happy with the service and the result. Irene explained to me what she could and couldn't do, and gave me some great advice on what I needed to do with my wardrobe. She cleaned a number of items for me and they were all done well. One jacket she removed some marks which we hadn't even discussed beforehand. Excellent service. I will go back. Highly recommended.

Just wanted to say thanks to Emmanuel and the team at Irene’s dry-cleaning for looking after us! Over the last year you have always been courteous thorough and very friendly…I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dry-cleaning!

Undoubtedly the BEST dry cleaner I have ever known. Attention to detail is incredible. Staff are delightful. They understand their clients needs and I know I can rely on them for consistency.

My mother recently used your service and I was incredibly upset with the interaction she described to me with the owner -Emanuel. He was very patronizing towards her and she felt as though his general snobbery and sense of entitlement was very uninviting. He also seemed quite aggressive and controlling towards staff.

Emmanuel did an excellent job dry cleaning a very expensive but very old black suit that I had not worn in years. It came out looking like new! He was also very friendly and helpful, agreeing to do the job on the same day, as I needed it unexpectedly for a function that evening. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

Absolutely rubbish service! Ruined a brand new $300 top and took it back to them as I've been promised that they would try to fix it!
In the end not only they couldn't fix the top or offer any refunds, they had the audacity to ask for payment when they couldn't fix what they had ruined in the first place!
