InterContinental Melbourne reviews
26Amazing place and well taken care of by the staff. The location is perfect as well and the building has so much history.
We stayed in Melbourne for a week after staying at the Intercontinental in Sydney, which we loved.
Pros:
Location
Comfortable bed
Good sized room
In room dining was tasty
Cons:
With the exception of the amazing gentleman who checked us in, the staff didn't acknowledge us once in the whole week we were there unless we initiated it.
House keeping was not good at all!
The air-conditioning was terrible so the room was constantly hot and stuffy
We'll continue to stay at the Intercontinental Sydney but likely won't be back in Melbourne.
Nice rooms that have a nice large desk to work from. Lobby area flanked by the old buildings I nice area to dwell.
Stayed at the intercontinental during mandatory hotel quarantine during Covid. The king bed room faces an indoor atrium area meaning no natural light enters the room which is very poor, especially if you aren't able to leave the room for two weeks. The Wifi has been deplorable, only reaching speeds of 500-600Kbps despite multiple requests to increase the speed / rectify the wifi strength.
In my room, the A/C controller is set to 16deg C however the room does not cool below 25 deg C and hotel staff have been unable to rectify this or offer a change of room.
Apart from the above, the shower is quite nice and the bed is comfortable but that is about it.
Would not stay here again. 1/5 Stars
Staff were great, accomodating and helpful. Rooms were clean. Internet didn't work, bar fridge didn't work. There are other hotels with the same star rating out there that are much better for the same price. Would not stay here again.
All hotel quarantine meals are pathetic, at $60 of food a day or $20 a meal. This is what you get for Christmas lunch
Service is good here The hotel is a good location for business travellers. Mr Kishore the director takes great care of the customers.
Beautiful hotel and very comfortable bed with lovely light doona. Wd equal the Langham if it had a chocolate fountain and baby toothpaste/toothbrush.
Beautiful building. We didn't stay here this time but just popped in for a couple of quiet drinks in their public bar. Nice cocktails and relexed atmosphere. A piano player would be a great addition to this bar though.
Beautiful hotel with excellent service. The rooms were beautiful, sparkling bathroom, quality king bed, generous space and remote controlled blockout blinds. We stayed here for one night during White Night festivals and it is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in.
Beautiful facade, amazing how they connected two buildings to firm an awesome atrium.
Service is friendly and helpful.
The rooms are pretty typical of would one can expect from an IHG hotel.
Very disappointing that they designed balconies (not part of the original buildings), but deny access.
Great staff, spacious and elegant atrium between the two buildings. Comfortable rooms, a wonderful experience!
The atmosphere was such a peaceful one, making the hustle and bustle of the busy Melbourne streets seem so far away.
This property offers the high quality service I have come to expect from the Intercontinental chain, but is a disappointment in several regards. The rooms feel dated and small, lighting is poor and aircon not very effective. It also has some annoying quirks like tv being mounted on wall on side of bed. Those that like to take baths will be further disappointed that the bathrooms don’t have a bath. Apart from the service this hotel was akin to a Four Points or Hyatt Regency as opposed to a flagship 5 star property. There are much better and newer options at same price point in Melbourne. Don’t be fooled by the brand name.
Amazing weekend to celebrate my partner’s Birthday. Stayed in one of the Signature Suites and could not ask for more. Service was excellent and the extras (flowers and champagne) were provided with impeccable professionalism. Bedroom and facilities were amazing - pillows are to die for! Thank you to the staff (especially Owen) who did everything they could to make the weekend a little bit special.
Amazing place, the hotel had the remains of the old building it is built in as well as a very modern and classy style also. Room was small but we didn't need bigger. Nice food and drinks, bar staff know their craft.
CORRUPT! The hotel owners still owe me money from years ago; They have been gangstalking me for over 5 years.
I will remove this post once they have rectified the situation.
Glorious old building. A little on the expensive side for the value you get, but have the most amazing pillows for a hotel I have found anywhere in the world.
Amazing experience, love all the Intercontinental Hotels as they are all 5 star hotels and there standard of service is the same at all there hotels. Only hotel i like to stay in Melbourne. As its central location to all places in Melbourne.as shopping, restaurants, casino, walking to the stadium, Southbank and the tram is out front on Collins street and train station on Spencer st which is ust perfect. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are so comfy that you don't want to leave. Highly recommend The Intercontinental Hotel Melbourne
Went out of their way to make my daughter a strawberry milkshake and used real strawberries, good wine list and free popcorn.
