Independent Wine Store

The lady that served us really knew her wine. She matched a perfect pinot for our beef Wellington dinner and gave us a few other good wines to try next.

Simply brilliant. The ladies are so friendly and helpful. Such a nice place. Wish I found this sooner. And it comes with a view. Such a Gem. Keep up the good work ladies.

This is an undiscovered gem of the Mornington Peninsula. However, it’s not a cafe but rather a high quality wine cellar that serves antipasto platters with the wine and provides a nice coffee too if you wish. Make no mistake, it’s good wine that’s the key focus here and rightly so. The selection of Australian and international wine is excellent. There’s expensive stuff, there’s very reasonably priced wines. People come from all around including Melbourne to buy here. We had a wonderful time this afternoon. Sitting in the sun at the front was idyllic. The wines we selected - one riesling and one shiraz - were superb. The accompanying antipasto platter was a cracker too. Beautiful cheese, olives and meats. Couldn’t fault it. Add lovely friendly service and the ongoing Indian summer sun and you’ve got a perfect day. We left very happy with an armful of great wines and cheeses.

Nice wine store and bar. The only wish I have is, that the store should extend the offer of their dishes! Everything else is perfect, including the service.

I went to the Independent Wine Store at Rye to sample their best wine as well as the best produce that our local and international producers have to offer. I started with a platter of cheese, fruit and charcuterie washed down with couple of glasses of Portsea Estate Pinot Gris.
The quality was first rate and the atmosphere of the place which is opposite the Rye Yacht Club made for a very happy and relaxed Sunday.
Everything was perfectly matched and the staff really made my experience totally relaxing and enjoyable.
I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

The best little wine store and bar on the Peninsula. Stimulating and knowledgable selection of Australian and world wines at reasonable prices. Beers and liquor too. A selection of deli items and nibbles for in house or to take away. A most civilised store run by very civilised people. Unqualified recommendation. If you have not been to the IWS you are missing out!
