Independent Walwa General Store reviews
23Great place for coffee and a quick bit. Seafood basket was great. The general store is amazing. More choice that Woolworths.
A cute, quaint small town with big heart experience.
We stopped off for afternoon tea, and was suprised with the home made Almond Finger and Chocolate cookie (it was twice the size of a biscuit)
Inside, a warm fire and beautiful retro kitchen furniture.
Parking. On road only, even middle of the road.if the garden Gnomes dont mind.
Wheelchair access is easy.
One of the nicest towns I've ever experienced it was great to get a nice iced coffee and a fantastic burger.
Also just across the road is a fantastic op shop and the ladies are absolutely wonderful.
Fantastic coffee, friendly and super competent young lady running front of house - a perfect spot for planning the next stage of your trip (and asking for advice on where to go). Great simple Cafe food (egg and bacon, burgers, etc) and an impressive selection in the grocery section!
Bacon, egg and cheese toasted rolls are excellent, coffee also very good. Look forward to coming back soon.
OMG BEST BURGER AND CHIPS ON THE PLANET.
My wife and I drive from Albury to Thredbo or the South coast every couple of months and always take the Walwa route so we can stop at Joyce's store for lunch. Great service and freshly cooked food.
Just can't be beaten!
A quaint general store that offers all the basic supplies for camping, fishing etc. Fuel available on-site and good food.
Beautiful country service and fresh product that is a relieving and refreshing break on a journey.
If I could give this place zero stars I would, the owner is most rudest person ive ever came across and the food is less then advage too. I really wish I didn't waste my time stopping there it made me feel dirty walking out of there. I don't understand the other reviews as my experience was honestly horrible the owner should be ashamed of herself and the establishment she owns I feel sorry for the locals that rely on this place.
OVER PRICED SHOP! Campers BEWARE bring own food donot I repeat donot go here unless you want to waste your money.
SIGNS OUT FRONT CLEARLY SAY "NO MASK- NO ENTRY" BUT THE GRUMPY STORE OWNER, WHO IS VERY RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY, WELL SHE WEARS HER MASK ON HER CHIN OR NOT WEARS IT AT ALL, TOTALLY DISREGARDING THE RULES. YOU CANT EXPECT ONE THING FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS IF YOU WONT DO IT YOURSELF!
Stopped here for lunch with the missus and kids on our Saturday drive, large range of cooked foods available plus much much more. I really loved the "Walwa Wopper" burger. Pretty reasonable price too.
I just read the last 2 reviews how lovely and welcoming Joyce was. I’m not sure who was just working there but we had the complete opposite feeling. The lady made up feel completely unwelcome and unwanted. We left all feeling quite shocked. There is no way she could have been the owner.
Joyce makes a great coffee and welcomes locals & travellers alike. Yummy toasties too. Wonderful hospitality!
Absolutely brilliant! Joyce is a treasure. Welcoming, great good and amazing coffee. Her staff and so lovely and highly recommend you visit them. Their groceries are very reasonably priced and heaps of variety.
The egg and bacon rolls are great, and the coffee is also really good.
I time my departures so I can have breakfast there when I'm in the area. Lunch has also been good. Very friendly staff.
Great place for a pit stop when travelling the Upper Murray. Good food and drink plus other needs. Old school shoppe.
Lovely general store with great take away food. We only had bacon and egg rolls but they were possibly the best I've ever had. Care was certainly taken when they were made. Fantastic decor with original 1950's tables and chairs throughout and a lovely tea room full of collectables to view. Their is lots of old colectable and historic pieces throughout the store to have a look at. Service was very friendly and the coffee was good. Will definitely re visit if traveling through this area again.
Absolute friendly bunch, amazing brekkie and service with a smile. We'll be back next time where in town
